"OH GOD DOROTHY, WHAT IF I DAN IT UP?!"

jafortee

Next strip: “I just called to say I love her” on broken muzak

Andrea Andrew

This is sweet, sad, and heartwarming.

Andrea Andrew

Dorothy knows Joyce is a bigger deal, and Joyce wants to know it.

GundamBradley

I mean, we can mock Danny, sure, but he's also fucking up in his love life *profoundly* less than 90 percent of the cast right now. This is a guy who got Sal to admit she's got a soft side. He can move mountains.

jafortee

We can count on Walky to be the rebound, he’s getting really good at undanning things

GundamBradley

Joyce isn't wrong. It doesn't necessarily slight Danny or Walky that this *is* a situation that's a big game changer, and that there's a reason she would like them to know about it.

Sajuuk-Khar

Joyce, you can only pivot from feelings trouble to displays of incredible devotion so many times! It’s not an unlimited resource!

Jamie (QueenofSodor)

yeah joyce would probably really *really* want some parents-in-law to fill the void left by her increasingly estranged actual-parents huh

Lazuli

"dan it up?" oh you mean being honest with your partner, joyce?

KittyKai

Truuuuuuue. Do it for her, Dorthy ~!!!

Astariel

I still suspect there may be more behind Dorothy's reluctance than she's admitting here, though it certainly could be subconscious. Now I really her to tell them for Joyce's sake, though.

Andrea Andrew

I think Joyce needs Dorothy’s parents.

Rachel Baker

Dorothy, this relationship is definitely a bigger deal than Dan or Walky, regardless of Joyce’s gender! I was *such* a Dorothy. I cared about the folks I dated to varying degrees, but when I fell for my now-spouse, the difference in feeling was so stark. Dorothy cares about Dan and Walky, but how she clearly feels about Joyce is waaaaaay different. And that’s worth sharing with family.

Shane Wegner

I wouldn’t hold your breath for anything positive from your mom on this one. Dad? Maybe. Sister is already here for it. Mysterious brother might or might not even exist.

Maude Reads Things

Yeah, ideally it won't be a bigger deal. On the other hand I don't think any of her kisses with Walky or Danny ended up on the news so.

Tessea

Awww. Joyce DEFINITELY needs to see some positive parental figures in her life. Barring this, maybe she can meet Carla's parents?

Shane Wegner

I firmly believe depending on others to accept oneself is a path to disappointment. They get a vote, I guess, but it’s non-binding shares.

@C Dan: (/sneezes) (/to himself): "Hm. Maybe someone was talking about me, just now...." Sal: "Something on your mind, Wonderbread?" Dan: "Nope!"

"Dorothy, my last friend who came out was nearly abducted by her father and had to be saved by an actual masked hero [1]. "What im saying is, I'd like to see a coming-out that's a little less fraught before I have to deal with *my* mother, in this way. And also, how do you feel about masks and capes?" ____ [1] - Who I'm fairly certain we both still have a live crush on...

Gale Tazzin

joyce has totally forgotten dina's mom wiring her $200 for long john silver's

@KittyKai Headcannon: Dorthy is an entirely separate character from Dorothy. See also: Homsar [1] [2] vs Homestar Runner. [1] - "I was raised by a cup of coffee!" [2] - "I'm a song from the sixties!"

SHOW IT TO ME IN THEIR EYES

thejeff

I suspect it's more tied to other things than to being bi. Like abandoning Yale and her presidential ambitions.

Harold

@Gale Tazzin: The Spiders Saruyama are outliers and should not be counted (although they really *should* be, in terms of being role models for supportive parents)

Harold

J: "...how do you feel about masks and capes?" D: "Not as strongly as I feel about aviator glasses and bomber jackets... *Captain.*" J [flushing]: "Go upstairs and put on the suit, Madame President."

Amós Batista

"How is to live in a house with real nice parents?"

Astariel

Yes, I suspect that's a big part of it.

Samel da Camel

So I should use a dual-class shareholder structure to prevent hostile takeover?
