Buck Caldwell

Girl, you're gonna get yourself stabbed.

Andrea Andrew

The new Wordgirl, because she won’t shut up. Her voice is now her superpower.

Ragtime

Then Dorothy goes home and makes amazi-girlpesto, Joyce doesn't eat any..

Sajuuk-Khar

Oh, now we see the waffling inherent in the system! NOW we see the waffling inherent in the system!!

Dan Rabin

I for one welcome our new caped overthinker.

Dave Van Domelen

When used correctly (or incorrectly enough), oratory inflicts psychic damage.

Logibear

"Again my powers of rhetoric have confounded and dazzled the culprit. Truly if I were a contemporary of Athens or Thebes in the classical period, they would tell tales of me like those of Diogenes and Plato"

John C. Kirk

Typo in panel 3: deterrant should be deterrent.

Logibear

"I will pay you to shut up"

Omnithea

A Sternritter tried this shit with Kenpachi and got their throat ripped out.

Dan Rabin

Strange women lurking in capes distributing philosophy is no mechanism for a system of comics!

Empress of Robots

[Foldger's Coffee Commercial Narrator Voice]: "We've secretly replaced Backpack Stealer's regular Amazi-Girl with a Dorothy Keener substitute. Let's see if he can tell the difference..."

JMat

Holy shit, *THIS* is what an autistic superhero would be like! Also, I loved that Dorothy basically just talked herself out of being Amazi-Girl. Also, I love that none of her reasons were "this was a terrible idea from the start."

Dan Rabin

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... Superego.

Harold

Joyce brings Dorothy, still in costume, to Kitchen Doctor. KD does a double take and says, "What is this, a franchise?"

Maude Reads Things

Okay, Dorothy, so what IS your plan for people stealing from others on campus if AG style fighting isn't it? Because this guy's done it before and clearly doesn't plan to knock it off and while he may be a person and that is property, that doesn't make it okay to sit there with your thumb up your ass while some asshole is running around stealing other people's shit that they either work for or are given to them by someone else (especially since in this case it's probably stuff for school - school books and supplies are a bitch and a half to replace).

Tessea

It would be hard for Christian Bale's Batman to monologue like this while doing 'the voice'.

Tessea

@Jamie That we know of.

Bungo Boggins

Diogenes runs in and holds up this comic, “Behold — a hero!”

Shane Wegner

“I was just acting out to try and get the attention I didn’t receive from neglectful parents anyway.”

Shane Wegner

Dorothy successfully used Talk No Jutsu? Maybe she can become hokage.

Shane Wegner

I’m headcanoning his villain monicker as Snatch until disproven.

Miy Eterp

Hmm ok... Asslo she's gonna get stabbed. XD

Empress of Robots

He’s tagged as Backpack Stealer on the main site

Beck Chonigman

Actually, backpack thief, in a roundabout way, it IS. You still surrendered in the end, no matter the reasoning behind it.

joe mcguire

It’s almost like this whole Amazigirl thing was kind of problematic from the beginning and even the positive things that came from her presence were more just byproducts from alleviating her own compulsions, and vigilantism is never going to be a clear shot towards affecting actual change, and is- regardless of whatever good is done and whatever lives are saved- is ultimately a selfish act done to give the person doing it a sense of control where there otherwise wouldn’t be any, and if you don’t have those compulsions it all becomes even more pointless. It’s almost like that.

Johanne

What is it with thieves and carrying the backpack like it's on fire instead of just putting on the backpack which would look way less suspicious 😂

Jesse

Amazi-nerd

Michael Steamweed

I both really want to see that and really do not want to see that.

Harold

That's what the Amazi-Lozenges are for

thejeff

Actually, it is perfectly okay for her to "sit there with your thumb up your ass". It's not her responsibility to stop petty crime on campus any more than it's anyone else's.

Maude Reads Things

Normally I'd agree with you but she literally signed on to do exactly that. That is, in fact, what AG's taken upon herself to do and Dorothy took it upon herself to fill in for her.

Jayne Lindgren

Dorothy actually brings up a good point. It's pretty obvious that Dorothy should not be Amazi-Girl. But should Amazi-Girl be Amazi-Girl? Her most productive actions have tended to be to react to situations where legitimate (or "legitimate", if you prefer) justice isn't forthcoming. Like beating up Joyce's attacker, rescuing people from Becky's father, and protecting people from the police. But on the other hand, she does seem to spend most of her time dealing with very small-time property crimes like stolen backpacks and such. Is that worth the violence and danger and escalation? Is it effecting meaningful change, or is it just a deterrent that will go away as soon as she's not around? She clearly didn't deter this thief from continuing. And then there's the risk to both herself *and* Amber. They both could have died because of the situation she put them in. Yes, the blame ultimately lies on the police, but they would still be dead. And how long does she plan to continue this vigilante lifestyle? Forever? Until she gets hurt enough that she can't anymore? She was born from trauma, and the source of that trauma is already dead. What would healing and recovery even look like for her?

holdinglines

God I love Dorothy's look in that last panel

Astariel

If I'm remembering correctly, we really haven't seen her deal with this kind of petty crime since the timeskip. Walky pointed out that she was absent for about three months, and since then, I think we've only seen her deal with the Incelerator and cops at the protest. We saw her meet Joe and Joyce while patrolling, but we don't know exactly what she does on patrol. She has said she's trying to be less of a cop. So I think it's quite possible that original flavor Amazi-Girl has already learned this lesson, but Dorothy, obviously, hasn't.
