I'm concerned that Dorothy feels she needs to justify her actions like "My work is making everyone else's lives better." Joyce doesn't understand what she's going through, but "Aren't you supposed to be fulfilling my vision of the indefatigable constantly-working Dorothy?" is not really helping. And Dorothy isn't yet in a place where she can say "I realized I desperately needed a break, so I'm taking one."
