"OH NO. MORE KEANU REEVES." - Nobody ever

Comments

David Crabtree

I remember seeing this in theaters. I was 18, and this was my introduction to Charlize!

Eddie Perkins

That was fun, and I knew you were about to say that at the same time he did. I have seen this a few times, but it's always fun to watch others react, and you never disappoint when it comes to that. Now it's time to watch Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) with Keanu Reeves. Another movie I thought of while watching this is Angel Heart (1987).

It's always interesting to me when characters in movies speak like normal everyday people and certain audiences can't handle it and say that the movie "didn't age well". What does that even mean?

It means a statement/phrase is outdated, out of touch with current society. What once would be okay to say on-screen is now offensive or what ever was predicted at that time didn't come true in the present.

Ana Fox

You say fun, I say traumatic, but it was awesome to re-experience this movie with you.

But what he said wasn't even "offensive". He was making an observation about a certain person that people still make today. People really haven't changed since this movie was released, we just want to pretend they have. I think what happened here (and what happens a lot nowadays) is people listen for certain buzzwords and if they hear them they immediately call it offensive without even giving any thought to context. It's the equivalent of judging an article by only reading the headline.
