I heard the alt title for this movie was "Aliens: Same People, But Make it Vampires".

Awwww. Sadly, this one isn't available in the U.S.

It’s a good day to be Tony.

This came out a year after Aliens; according to IMDb, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, and Jenette Goldstein from the 1986 hit Aliens appear in Kathryn Bigelow's 1987 film Near Dark because James Cameron, Henriksen's future husband, suggested that Bigelow use the cast from Aliens. I like this one, but it does stray from the rules; vampires cannot enter a human home without first being invited. In folklore, a person cannot be turned back into a human once he has become a vampire. And so on. Interview with the Vampire and Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) are both worth watching.

the in camera effects work for Dracula is next level. I hate Coppola as a person. I think he's a massive piece of shit, but god damn do i love that movie .

Kathryn Bigelow is the goat! It's not a horror movie but she made a sci-fi murder mystery with James Cameron called Strange Days and it's one of the most influential films of the past 30 years but it's stuck on DVD. no HD master in the US. But it RIPS so hard.

Thank you Kat!!! I've been in the asking for Near Dark business for so long now that it's over I don't know what to do with the rest of my life.

Isn't every day a good day to be Tony?

Kinokind

Kathryn Bigelow! Tangerine Dream! That cast! And great cinematography. Imagine what a pain it must have been to get the timing just right on those golden-hour shots! And the word "vampire" is never spoken, not is there any reference to religious iconography: crosses, Holy water, mirrors and the like. A fascinating film. It might be my favorite vampire picture.

Kinokind

Oh, and of course the great Jenette Goldstein was Vasquez. That woman's a chameleon.

Kinokind

And the best part! Did you notice that as he's walking to the bus station, the theater behind him has "Aliens" on the marquee?

Jay_delachance

You know how some people get paid to stand in line for other people? Well you can now similarly offer your services to stand in for people trying to convince Kat to watch their preferred movies, now that you've proven your success at it. 😁

Edge

Oh no! I literally watched it on Prime (maybe Tubi) a couple weeks ago.

Edge

As a Toni, I agree.

Zensonar

The best vampire movie ever made and the most Bill Paxton that Bill Paxton has ever been in a role.

Code Monkey

Can I break off a lil' sumptin' sumptin' ???
