Ominous

Mike Flanagan has done interviews about this show (which you should 100% check out if you get the time). He's said it's one of the most personal shows he's made. He grew up Catholic and doesn't really believe anymore, and said that the discussions between Riley and the priest during their meetings were sort of like the catholic side of him and the atheist side of him talking through it all. And Riley is sort of based on Flanagan's own struggle with alcoholism. I think the fact that it was so personal to him is why it turned out so amazing.

Hey I know somebody ELSE that's 83 and looks much younger!

I have to say, I find Mike Flanagan's dialogue jarringly unnatural. No one has conversations in his shows. People monologue at each other. Person A: "I have a problem. Can you help me?" Person B: "Sure. But first, let me tell you my life story". This style of storytelling completely takes me out of a show.

Mass hypnosis. Mass suicide. Accept your fate. Don't question. Just like 4 years ago. That makes you a ''... " denier!
