Wow, I love this show. It's been a few years since I've watched it all from the beginning. Thank you for the excuse to do just that :) It's got heart. It's got unpredictability. It's got long, intricate storylines and lore. It's got short monster-of-the-week episodes. It's just amazing.

To answer your question, Poltergeist came out in 1982, and this show started in 1993! Loving these reactions so far, it's such a great show!

Such a great episode. Lake Okoboji!! Such a great place! I was introduced to it during Covid. Would stay in a cabin on the lake. Totally didn't know it had a history of UFOs. Kinda explains some weird stuff we saw one night sitting out by the campfire.

Kat I fell in love with these characters in 1993 when I was 36 years old, at 68 I am still in love with them today. While I have probably watched the episodes of the first 7 seasons 6-8 times or more, watching them again is like the twinge you get when you think about your first pet or first girl friend…. There is just something that comes back to you when you hear a special song or when you see old friends from a magical tv show…

Truthfully watching this again with someone who watches with such wonder….sort of like my 3 year old grand daughter who watched ET with me. When it was over she said, “That was awesome”. I can tell you feel the same way after each episode.

Also, as with just about every X-Files episode, this one does some borrowing from pop culture sources; in this case I'd say Close Encounters of the Third Kind is the reference as far as the boy.

I grew up in the Sioux City area. As far as I know, there is not a single flat street of even half the length in the residential areas, and very few in the business areas, either.

Though I do have to admit the things that stand out to me about this episode: Rubayyyy as the shout for Ruby at the start, and Scully doing some of the worst CPR 😂

There's an early episode, I can't remember which, where CPR is being performed in the background of a scene by doctors in a hospital and it is absolutely hilarious. Can't wait! hahaha

Yeah - so often there is someone who believes strongly about something and the rest people around are... "sceptical" about it. Whose right? Whose wrong? Where does the truth lies? The Truth Is Out There... What I was surprised about - that Mulder did not recognized binary code at first glance. I mean "We" all know once and zeros - right?? "TV people" - This was made way after "Poltergeist" wich was released in 1982... Also If You would have seen "Bloodsport"... You would recognized mr. Donald Gibb. Great character actor. Onto next one... :)

I love this series. I've made it a habit for the last few decades to watch the entire series every couple of years. It is very fun to watch it this time with you. You're filmmaking I.Q. is quite high. Are you a filmmaker? The only other complete series I watch as a tradition is FRINGE. It would be difficult for me to pick which of the two I like most.
