Thank you Emily!

What about the X-files? Did we give up on that? I watched Firefly with your Canadian friend Cassie. I don't know I don't think it was for me.

Beff

This is a nice surprise! It's such a great show, one of my faves. I was just about to start a rewatch soon so this is lovely timing!

jamesthevampyr

Firefly is a fantastic ride from start to finish.

Taco Wolf

YayayayAY! Got my tea and am ready to roll! Thank you Emily :D

Totally agree with you that this is one of the best pilots ever made! I personally consider the show to be one of my favorites, as well as the most perfect show ever made (and I include the movie in this). Now that is probably because there were only 14 episodes and there wasn't time for anything to go wrong, but there isn't a boring episode in the bunch. The characters are so rich and three-dimensional, and I'm glad you noticed how great the score is. I have the score in my music playlists and it's so great to have as background music! I'll leave you with this quote about the show and its characters, which sums it up so well: "Firefly is about nine people looking into the blackness of space and seeing nine different things." So glad you're enjoying the show, Kat! Welcome to the Browncoats!

EmilyKT

You're welcome, lol! I was just thinking about watching it again and was just curious and we ended up with a little treat! :)

EmilyKT

You're welcome!! Glad I asked lol :)

Rayve

Holy moo I am so excited!

Owen Kosik

I think the only competition for this as far as pilots go is LOST, but that really got ruined by how dumb that show got. Excellent episode

Justin Broadbent

Another great Sci-fi show is Babylon 5 you should check it out.

Kiki McD

i'm unable to leave a comment of me screaming in pure excitement & joy, so please accept this text comment instead. Phenomenal is the word.

Max Pujals

FIREFLY .. the score, the writing, the acting and the F/X . all incredible . a well done sci fi series . after, I do recommend SERENITY the movie .. M@x.

I believe it's a 12-gauge, but I'd have to go back frame by frame to tell you the exact model. Also since you mentioned Red Dead, you might notice that at least half the guns in this episode are models you can get in Red Dead, no joke.

Robb Bagalayos

Shiny! I'm happy you are reacting to this show.

TeatroGrottesco

It's a 40MM round. You typically see these used as less-than-lethal, but come in a variety of load depending on the situation.

Kthulhu

Fun fact: Jewel Staite doesn't like strawberries.

Kniggit

Came from the post on YouTube, and I too am glad you circled back to this one.

emocelot

This and battlestar galactica have possibly the best pilots of anything.

Wally Hartshorn

Just joined from YouTube. You called this perhaps the best pilot episode you have ever seen (and I agree), but somehow they had to make another pilot episode because the Fox execs didn't like this one. I'll never understand that.

Richard Flores

I was the exact same way. For years I kept being told "dude, you love Buffy, you love ATLA, you HAVE to watch Firefly". And I tried. Three attempts over six months - first stopped before the skiff, second not long after the skiff, third at the sticky. When I finally got over myself and through the first ten minutes and the rest of the episode, I must have watched it three more times before moving on to episode two. It was just so perfectly made. Also love the face you made at 'good dogs'. And when Simon runs to check on Kaylee. "They're laughing at me", you say. And all the things... script, actors, character depth, comedy, world development, group chemistry, all of it. Just perfect.

Siren Offspring

Nathan was so hot back then! He'll always be hot in my eyes.

Siren Offspring

I can't believe you didn't know it was a Joss Where's lol! Oh well, nobody's perfect lol!!

Siren Offspring

This wasn't the aired pilot. The Train Job was. Against Joss Wheden's wishes, they played it out of order because the execs thought it needed to have more action, but it ended up being part of the reason for the low ratings at the beginning.

Rhiannon

I'm joining the Patreon party after being a YT follower for a while in order to watch your reaction to this because I just KNEW you would Get It. I always feel so triumphant seeing a reactor love this show right out of the gate - HOOKED ANOTHER ONE, Browncoats!

Eric H

"Are you joking?!?! This script?!?" Yeah...we know. Best pilot and Fox hated it and started their path to try to kill the show. Twenty fours years later...and this show still lives.

Baron

A great 1 season show is Altered Carbon. Def worth a look. Strong characters, great action and lots of twists and turns. a Scifi murder mystery.
