I can’t get enough of your X-Files reactions! My memory is that Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus. Please consider Fringe!

K, Zachary

After 4 days Jesus resurrected Lazurus Of Bethany. Yeah I love it here too. I can't find anything on the watches. My gf who is ARNP has watched children die before it's not like it is in TV shows and movies. However they have recesitated kids before, who have been dead for 5-7 minutes.

Loving these reactions. X-Files is such an amazing show! Man, for a minute at the beginning, I thought this was a different episode. One of my favorites. The girl in this one looked enough like the other one, that I just thought.... Oh well. I looked it up and the one I was thinking of doesn't show up until season six. Ha.

“In Sunday School the teacher told us about this guy Lazarus. He was dead, and Jesus brought him back to life. He said ‘Lazarus, come forth,’ and the teacher said if he’d just said ‘Come forth,’ probably everybody in that graveyard would have come out, and Jesus only wanted Lazarus.” -- Ellie Creed, Pet Sematary

I love it here too…. Yes Lazarus was raised from the dead. His sisters told Jesus that if he had coming sooner he could have saved Lazarus. They felt that after the 3 or 4 days it was too late. But Jesus knew better and called him from his tomb.

You're thinking of the time loop ep aren't you?

I love the X-Files, but I have to admit that the only aspect of the show that takes me out of the dream is how far fetched some of the concepts are... It's an odd mix of plausible and crazy town.

Oh man I forgot how AWESOME the novel of Pet Sematary is.

On cooking meaning fast, I think it's been adapted from "now you're cooking" which could be a shortening of "now you're cooking with gas" which would be an upgrade from cooking with wood or coals and probably faster. I think. Maybe? I may be a cunning linguist, but I'm no professor of words so I could be waaaaay off base.

I think that ER doctors try to strip their patients of anything metal when using a defibrillator, otherwise (depending on the voltage) metal items can spark and burn the patient's skin or arc back to the administering doctor. I know they specifically have to remove anything metal from the chest where the pads will be placed, like piercings or hanging jewelry, but I don't know if watches fall into that category. I'd imagine sometimes there's not enough time to remove belts and wristwatches, but I think if there's enough doctors attending and the time and space to be thorough, they'd take a watch off first. I believe the episode's ending is implying that Jack Willis' watch stopped when he was shot, though, and not by the later defibrillator charge as they try to resuscitate him. There's a lot of 'evidence' for near-death experiences, and yes, that group of people does tend to have a statistically significant issue with electrical equipment after an NDE (but I think 50% is an exaggeration for effect in this episode). Dupre taking over Jack Willis' body would be a case of what the paranormal community now calls a 'walk-in': a disembodied soul taking over a convenient (usually un-souled) live body. As is mentioned by Mulder's friendly professor, your average (non walk-in) NDE experiencers tend to come back different from before their experiences; some people claim psychic powers, some come back with impossible math skills or can play instruments or speak languages they've never been exposed to, others become channelers for the dead or other entities beyond the pale. As is par for the course in The X-Files, we get a story based on something from the fringes of acceptable belief that's heightened (a lot) for dramatic effect. Like Mulder says, "it means whatever you want it to mean."

. . I too luv it here K@t.

I'm only familiar with "now we're cooking with gas" expression. Which I believe means doing something fast - I guess... Anyway... another cool episode - don't You think? :)

"Now we're cooking" doesn't actually mean "fast." It *can* mean that. But it means that things have finally started happening. They've gone from being preparatory to energetic. You're actually *doing* the thing now. So, it can absolutely mean that things have sped up, but that's only one interpretation in one context. It could also mean you tried three solutions and the fourth one worked or that a project finally started coming together or that someone interjected a "Eureka!" idea that launched things into motion. It's a very versatile phrase. Anyway, I've been binging your X-Files reactions because they are SO, so good. I watched the series when it first aired and again years later. Rewatching it with your reactions is an absolute delight and worth every penny spent on membership.

Dr. Scully should have pointed out you don’t restart a heart with a shock!
