Ooh! You watched the version with the score! Originally there was no music. Phillip Glass was commissioned to write it in 1998 & it was performed by the Kronos Quartet.

I've been watching Dracula for over 60 years, and maybe it's just my opinion, but I believe that if it isn't broken, don't fix it. This version isn't the original with respect to the score. The original started with Swan Lake and had very little music, which I loved. But in 1998, composer Philip Glass and the Kronos Quartet created this score, which you obviously enjoyed, though I feel it takes away from the movie's creepiness. I agree that Dwight Frye's performance as Renfield was the best, while some of the weakest acting was from David Manners as Jonathan Harker. Dwight Frye appeared in numerous horror films, including Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, The Ghost of Frankenstein, The Vampire Bat, and Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. There's even a song called "The Ballad of Dwight Frye" by Alice Cooper from the early 1970s. He was a great supporting actor. However, I did not like the movie Renfield at all and won't watch it again. You should watch Bride of Frankenstein—I think you might like it more than Frankenstein. I'm also looking forward to Bram Stoker's Dracula with Keanu Reeves; it's a very good movie.
