James At the Peak

A lot of Bunk time in this Episode. I like you are going to be sadden by the end of this Series. Here is to hoping that the final installment will leave some kind of closure.

It might seem like the conflict between Wash and Zoe came out of nowhere, but think back to episode 1. Wash was complaining that he and Zoe couldn’t have any time off unless “the captain says it’s alright.” Imagine being married, but having to live with someone (Mal) who is your boss and your wife’s boss. He owns the place, he controls where you go and what you do. He controls nearly every aspect of your life. Even if he’s a good boss, that would eventually cause some conflict.

That's the thing about this series: you can watch it over and over and never get tired of it. I usually watch it once a year, because I can never stay away from it for too long. One of my favorite little things about this episode is that Book says the Bible is "fuzzy on the subject of kneecaps", and every person he shoots, he hits in the kneecap! It just shows us a little bit more about his character without him having to tell us anything. And I think it's understandable why Kaylee is a little freaked out by River right now. River has been pretty helpless and whimsical (to use your description) the entire time, and all of a sudden, she shoots three men with her eyes closed? I've always read it as her needing to figure this out, especially since, like you said, she's not built for fighting and conflicts...so I think it makes sense that she needs space from River at the end of the episode.

Here's how it is. If you can't remember the lyrics to the theme song by the end of the season, we'll do a second watch-through, as you suggested, until you can remember the lyrics. 🤣

Yeah, suddenly your happy go lucky buddy turns into a ruthless murder machine and is "no big deal" about it? Kaylee's reaction is understandable, especially since we've already seen her have a go out of nowhere at Jayne.

What you should do once the series ends is watch someone else's reactions to it. Then you can truly understand how much fun it is for us to watch along with you. :D
