Kat your just full of surprises aren't you?

I love this film! It's so well made. Great acting, smart script, Good use of CG, great synth score. Color grading, for God's sake! I came across this film when I was looking for good, well made horror films that are lesser known. (First saw Tucker and Dale at the same time). And in this film I realized the difference between the "kills" that horror fans obsess over, and character "deaths." When Gertie died I realized that we knew and liked these characters. They weren't the disposable cardboard horror movie tropes of the genre films. And, yes, I cried, too. And let's talk about production! Get some talented, second tier actors (who have since moved up. Yes, that is the other Farmiga sister), give them a good script, and set the wheels in motion. So the producers filmed this in a real summer camp, but they built the cabin for the film. They needed a two-storey interior for the special multi-axis computer driven camera rig they were using, since it was so big. Go back and look at the insane camera moves in that scene were Billy enters the cabin. It does literal barrel rolls! BTW: They built the cabin, not like a set, but to code, like a building, and left it for the summer camp when they were done.
