You're going to lose your mind when you watch Maverick.

I love your reactions! Top Gun: Maverick is great too. My favorite Tom Cruise SciFi movie is Edge of Tomorrow, you would love it. Oblivion is another great SciFi movie with Tom. A very early fantasy movie, maybe his first, was Legend (1985). Then there’s Minority Report which is based on a Philip K. Dick novel and it’s great SciFi too.

What a great movie, and I was planning on watching it this weekend. What a nice surprise, now we can watch together!

Great Tom Cruise movies Maverick Last Samurai and Edge of Tomorrow

I suggest Kat secures a set of backup cheeks before she settles in to watch Top Gun: Maverick

Michael clark

She is in a few movies but not a major star like Meg Ryan. Tom stars in many roles… there are tons….

The sequel Top Gun: Maverick is waaaaay better!

Kelly McGillis was in Witness with Harrison Ford

I'm glad that you didn't just like this one, Kat, but actually said "This is the GREATEST movie EVER!" at one point. A bit of a stretch but honestly not by much. It has everything, like a pizza with way too many toppings, which might be a sin against good taste but still tastes AMAZING. Bonus points for calling out the soundtrack on this one, repeatedly. As Awesome 80s Soundtracks go, this one is absolutely near the top of the heap. A few ideas for future watches. I'll second the recommendations for "Maverick" and "Edge of Tomorrow;" but if you liked this movie enough to want to literally watch it again right away, but with a fresh coat of paint, "Days of Thunder" is a guilty pleasure Cruise movie, that has almost EXACTLY the same plot as this one - just in stock cars instead of jets. To the point that "Tom Cruise Formula Movie" started becoming a meme before the internet was even really a thing. It can't match this one by a mile, but it DOES have some similarly fantastic cinematography (same director and producers even!), and most of the cast are clearly having a blast, carrying it through weak spots. Also, if you were swooning a bit over Young Tom Cruise here, don't miss "Risky Business" where he's literally playing a teenager and was barely older than that. If you think his chemistry with McGillis was awesome in this one, he and a young Rebecca DeMornay are absolutely off the charts.

No SGI here KAT - just models. Plane models that is. Basically this movie became a "recrutment video" for pilots. No - this is not Tom's first big movie. That would be a "Risky business" from 1983. After this one... You just "MUST" watch "Hot Shots!" 1991. Then "Rambo" movies (at least first 3 movies) and then "Hot Shots! Part Deux" 1993. You will see more of Kelly McGillis in "Witness" from 1985. I reccomand that one (Harrison Ford movie).

The Last Samurai is such a beautiful movie

Rhiannon

Wait wait wait.... Does that mean you've never seen a Mission Impossible movie?? Must remedy.
