I consider myself a X-Files aficionado. I've watched the entire series 3 times and I have zero recollection of this episode! WTF? 🤔🤔🤔 Great reaction (as always!)

Michael Gehrman

Great, Kat! I hope you watch the whole series with us to see where all of this great show goes! It's definitely keeping me a patreon (along with Star Trek),

Josh Link

Each episode in this watch along is reminding me why I loved this show so much as a kid.

This episode takes a very unanticipated hard left into the show's lore right in the final act. Originally this was supposed to be the first ever network crossover show, with the CBS series Picket Fences, a show set in a small town with very weird Twilight Zone vibes. The two shows' runners were really into the idea, but network execs were all "absolutely not"... so the X-Files episode was pretty heavily re-written into this, where showrunner Chris Carter ended up filling all the Picket Fences-sized gaps with show mythology (though the corresponding episode for Picket Fences still featured a visit from the FBI as the main drive of the episode). You may also recognize an alum from your channel: Mark Rolston, who played the Red Museum's leader, was also in Aliens as Drake (Vasquez's heavy gunner partner). He's had a long and solid career playing a lot of heavies and Very Reprehensible Men across TV and movies, so it's a fun turn for him here as 'eccentric but harmless cult leader.' If memory serves he's one of several actors who will have multiple appearances on the X-Files playing wildly different characters. Also one of the first times as a fan that I legit wanted to shake Scully until her skepticism fell out: "These shots the kids and cows are getting have the same chemical composition as the possibly extraterrestrial Purity Control stuff in that Erlenmeyer Flask!" "You mean alien juice?" "Mulder, that was never conclusively proven to be an alien..." Scully, you **held a frozen baby alien up in front of your face and then carried it around in a cardboard box for a few hours until Deep Throat got killed**, how are you still on the fence on this one?!? :D

Watched your feature work. You are an excellent actress. Any chance we'll get to do a watchalong starring you?

Michael clark

Do you really read all your comments??

Mo

Gonna retitle this episode Draining the Lizard.

The thing that surprises me the most rewatching the X Files with Kat is her unsuitable blood lust. Didn’t get that sense from the YouTube reactions.

John Beebe

Can’t believe my parents let us watch this as a family. I must’ve been under 10yo when we started watching.

Stephen Matthews

oh yes, the message should surly be "trust the creepy cult"

Michael Davis

Kat, the look on your face when Mulder wiped Scully's mouth, and she smiled, was priceless!

Michael Davis

The Sheriff was one of the guards on the plane in Con Air. A movie worth reacting to.

Totemkauf

omg do a whole video with that 'drain the lizard' kid's voice bit, like read a famous poem or something haha
