YES KAT! They don’t make em like this anymore.

Matthew McDowell

Fun to revisit an old horror comedy. Since you liked Ready or Not and the Babysitter, I recommend watching Freaky. An underrated horror movie that came out in 2020 and is so much fun.

Hey Kat for more Goldie please consider Overboard/Private Benjamin or maybe even Wildcats. Go Bruce ! loving the reactions, good luck with your Q&A with fellow Canadian Kristian Bruun. It should be good.

You know - I saw many movies with Meryl Streep (and of course Goldie and Bruce - but that is beside the point) and I think this is her best role. I really do. Yeah this is one the last of "good comedies" made by Hollywood. And with the right message too. And yes it is about time passage but "Substance" does not come even close to this movie. I can (and have) watched this one every few years. "Substance" I saw once in cinema and one time with You - KAT and that is enough. By the way - does anybody else finds Goldie Hawn eyes creepy?? I mean they fit here (for this role) perfectly. o0 XD Kurt Russell is a lucky man. Nice pick KAT - thanks for watching this one. :)

I would mind being young and immortal, but this version where you could possibly be trapped in a dead and deteriorating body really is a horror. I don’t think boredom would be an issue with new friends to be made, new books, and new media are always coming out. And simply the curiosity of seeing where humanity goes might be enough to sustain someone for several lifetimes. But some way to exit would be a necessity.

Omg I love this movie!!

I love Bruce Willis in this. People who only know him from his "Die Hard" era on, won't remember that his first major role was in the TV comedy series "Moonlighting" (1985-89). It's a lot easier to be an action hero than good at comedy. The answer to all your other questions, though, is that there's a butt-load of CG effects in this. A lot. Fun Trivia: The emergency room doctor (who's uncredited) is the great director, Sydney Pollack ("Three Days of the Condor," "Jeremiah Johnson," "Tootsie," etc.).

Apparently this film beat Jurassic Park to the punch in using cutting edge CGI effects that were first of their kind on film. Meryl Streep apparently hated acting in this way, having to pretend to be opposite Goldie when she wasn't there, and vowed never to do an effects heavy movie again.. She also gave Goldie a cut on the face during their "real" fight with the shovels.

Even the ending was similar. This movie had to have inspired the Substance.

Overboard is great. It's where Goldie and Kurt met.
