NOTE: SFO adds many extra garrison units to none wall buildings.NOTE 2: There is submod that remove those.Do you think that we should lower extra garrison units for none wall/military buildings in upcoming update? New update will allow to make more armies so garrisons wont be that much needed anymore.

I think it should make thematic sense. If it does, infrastructure providing garrisons is fine. Like a mine giving you miners as dwarf.

one of the main reasons I like Grimhammer is strong garrison mechanic... that I can wander away from a super valuable settlement that I've poured TONS of money into upgrading the garrison and not worry about it doing down in one turn from the first army that happens on by. I'd love it if there were ways to make garrisons even stronger!

They are the definition of perfect as is rn. It makes sense for farms to have people to protect them in an empire of sorts.

I like how it is now, but I wish different tiers had bigger differences. Especially stuff like ports, which don't seem to change garrisons at all. Some upgrades make a huge change and some make no change.I also wish resource chains had garrisons, but I'm not a modder so I have no idea if those are problematic since they're shared between races.

Thats one of the main reasons i love Grimhammer! Its annoying to take a settlement, move away three turns later, after building and protecting, and then getting it razed by a random warheard of beastmen and you use the next 5 turns to recolonize and replenish your losses

Ever since total war remove the ability to have units without a general garrisons have been a complete pain. Having the extra units for buildings so a fully developed city is inherently defended (even if not invulnerable) has been fantastic. Having infrastructure buildings give units as well as military ones was a really good idea, please don't remove!

With more armys, garrison will be no issue, but a town with no garrison is just unheard of. Leave it!

Playing a vanilla campaign now and the most frustrating thing is that a half stack army can tear apart my entire economy base without barely any effort because my garrisons are so few

I prefer Military Only, i would much prefer more garrisons when you chose to build wall. The garrison could be a pain to deal when you attack, garrison should be an effort you want to make or AI want to wall-in. It should be not something you have to take out with a minimum of two full stacks if you or AI has not invested in the garrison.

Elin Weimarck

I very much like them as they are. If anything should be changed, I would like to see -more- garrison buildings be added, to give the option of further fortifying strategically important settlements at the cost of more gold and building slots.

I think that the infrastructure buildings should add a little to the garrison. Military building add more than that. Gatehouses the most. And all should improve as the level of the infrastructure improves to level 2, 3, 4, and 5. The building that negates skaven corruption should add something to the garrison as well. I love the thematic approach to each garrison and how it is tied to the building. Great work Venris.

Weakening garrisons would make it too easy to steamroll the AI with sneak attacks, the AI is extremely bad at defending itself against enemy AI as well.

Jacob

I think it would help to leave things as they are for now and rebalance later. I realize that will entail more work, and I wouldn't want you to have to do it, but I find that usually dramatic changes are harder for people to get used to than incremental ones. Also, I agree with David Samra.

Jacob

And thanks again for all your hard work!

One of the best things about sfo is making trade offs and choices. I don’t mind economic or growth buildings providing some garrison but a town should have to make a choice between being a market town or a garrison, so to speak. Would be cool if economic buildings caused penalties to local armies, especially for factions like bretonnia and empire. Farmers and craftspeople are not soldiers so the garrisons of their towns should not be effective fighters.

Espen Pettersen

I think extra garrisons are fine, but they should mainly come from military themed buildings. More importantly - OUT WITH THE CAV UNITS. It's incredibly annoying when your precious garrison slots are wasted on some times as many as 4 mounted units (which seem to also be considered "stronger" when there are more than max units and some are shed away, as happens sometimes in Grimhammer). Just, get them out of there (even though it's hilarious when it happens to the AI :P

With faction wide and army unit limits having garrisons the way they are now doesn't make tactical sense. I do believe that: 1. Every city should have a hero leading garrison by default. Lords/Heroes is a foundation stone of any Warhammer army after all. 2. Only Military Buildings should be adding extra garrison units while farms shouldn't. 3. SFO 2 should have two different garrison layouts - one for scenario WITHOUT army unit limits and one for scenario WITH army unit limits. Overall garrisons strength for option with Army Unit limits should be lower and only Military Buildings should provide additional higher tear units for Garrisons. 4. Wall buildings should only add basic units to Garrison but provide stronger towers.

Played some vanilla recently and I forgot how annoying it was to constantly have to defend settlements during rebellions. I don't want to park an army in every settlement just to deal with revolts. Keep the extra garrisons.
