Join war is feature that can be very odd in some campaigns. Your mortal enemies can drag factions that should like you to war. Skaven can drag other Dawi to fight you as Dawi, or Empire etc.

Dilemma would be the best option, as it gives people a choice, AND allows full compatibility with other Loreful Diplomacy mods

Empire Peace for AI.

Ancientspacebaby

Is empire peace removed? Or just enabled by default

venris

Removed. So AI do what they want. Empire as same culture already have good relations with each other.

Dilemma or remove it's frustrating as hell playing happily along then your next door neighbour's being bribed to start a fight against you by an enemy 🤬.

The feature is so crap that it does not even deserve a dilemna. I don't want to see it ever again, even from afar! Let it be gone!

Please don't remove completely, this is often the only way I can get my military allies to join in on wars. The ai will often not like a faction but due to there strength rank not declare war. It is odd that Skaven can ask dwarf to join and lame that you can bypass alliances. Would there be any way to limit options to military/defensive allies. The join war feat has its limits but with the way the diplomacy is with wh2 its often needed to drive along some interesting wars in big campaigns.

What is the difference between same culture vs same races?

Moonspawn-7

Uber has a great point. With how limited the diplomacy system is, only removing the join war option might make campaigns kinda messy. If you just remove that one interaction without fully revamping the whole system (which other mods can already do and isn't necessary for you to make), there can be weird conflicts where your allies can't/won't help you, and other weirdness. Please consider making it either a dilemma, an option in the Mod Configuration Menu, or a submod.

I agree only because CAI seems to 100% disregard relations or anything else. The easy choice is to drop it to player only. I'd prefer if it was only a legacy options for defensive/alliance factions and perhaps shared NAP.

On a less related noted. I'd prefer if we made army caps + faction caps the recommended and balanced around that for the future. I must also say I turn off beastman rising 100% of the time because between hidden encampment and CA autoresolve I just don't see a benefit to their existence.

What about locking it partially behind opinion? So in general it would be like the second option, limited to culture, but if they have a low enough opinion of the target (-50 or -100 or something, not sure on a specific) they are no longer blocked from joining. Unconventional alliances can make the game really fun, and for many races it fits thematically that they wouldn't mind attacking a member of their own race under the right conditions. The exact threshold may even change based on specific faction (Arkhan, Azhag, etc), and I could see that being a more interesting campaign mechanic than just +/- 20 relations with some other race, both as your faction and when considering AI allies.
