China Is Flooding the World With Cheap Cars

Like almost everything made in China, cars are cheaper than most brands made elsewhere. That's a huge draw for consumers, since cars are a large ticket item. But like with all things made in China, there are concerns about them. In this episode of China Uncensored, we look at the growth in Chinese car exports, why Chinese cars could be a national security threat, and how one UK government vehicle has already been found to be spying for China. So, you mentioned Korn. Favourite song? Or don't want to talk about politics?

Serious note though. I wonder how many of these cheap EV knock offs are going up in flames? Tesla cars have a reputation (true or not) of burning really well....

Chris, if you were guaranteed plenty of money and safety, where in the world would you like to travel to next?

Eric Larsen

What can be done to protect our homegrown auto industry from these cheap CCP knock-offs? More tariffs? It would be nice to imagine people not buying them however we know that many people won't look past a cheaper price tag, even if the quality and safety are lacking, the technology is stolen and they've been produced in a country whose current ruling party is doing its level best to destroy us.

Per my previous comments. Ford with average transaction prices last quarter at $55K+ for cars & $70K+ for trucks. GM at $51K+ for cars. Over all average transaction prices in January 2023 was $48K+ for all car makes. US car companies are not making affordable cars. They only want to sell fewer expensive cars. Only Korea, and a few Japanese cos. sell affordable cars. This is the same mistake US Car companies made between 1959 to 1980. They gave away the car market to the Japanese. Who welcomed selling small affordable cars. China CCP already sells Volvos in Charleston SC. Parts made in China. Expect BYD, the 2nd largest car export co. in the world, and other Chinese Car companies, to flood the US Markets with cheap cars; people can afford. US Cos. will run to DC for help. But, it won't work this time. People need cars they can afford. If US companies refuse to sell them. Then China CCP will certainly do it. Then destroy the rest of their business. Just like the Japanese did in the past.

Is there any export from mainland China that isn't a natural security threat? Anything at all?

Mark E

I bet the CCP would love to get their hands on you Chris. Be safe.
