In '95 I was down in Yunnan and I had bought a book (don't know where it is now) that was in English and celebrated the different ethnicities. I do not remember any tilt towards the Han. It was very brief in descriptions of the minorities, but it celebrated them. It was a large coffee table type book. Things change for sure. It really was a much different time.
