4 cool ideas for the next game (Patreon)
Content
As promised, as foretold, I've got some ideas to share. Took me a while to get inspired, but once I did it was like a flood. From no ideas for two months straight, I now bring you four!
I deliberately left them as raw notes, just overviews of the concepts, possibilities, challenges, a very big picture view. Feel free to give feedback on any you like, or tell your preferences: on that note, I'm also opening up a poll together with this post, just to get an idea of what you guys like.
Not that it matters! You ain't deciding nothin', pal, I reserve the right to decide on what idea to go for my own. Could be that tomorrow I get another concept beemed into my brain by big fast food, and go for that, who knows. The poll is just out of curiosity :)
Ok, alright, down below are the ideas. Have fun!
1. Frontier Gourmand
Weight gain, greediness, brattiness, world at war, ww1, dieselpunk, end of belle epoque
A spy who got into a command/bureaucratic position inside the hierarchy of the enemy, with the task of sabotaging/making it easier for the motherland to win.
However, she was, before the war, a gourmand who has studied as a diplomat, with her own restaurant review column in the journal, and a foodie at heart. The war, and being a spy, might've soured her mood a bit, but she yearns to get back to tasting delicacies from across the continent, of finally eating to her heart's content again.
So now that she's got power in her hands, she can do so. She can get provisions back from the frontlines and ask for some to get to her. She can court generals or other bureaucrats, only to then blackmail them to get herself treats. She can sabotage for her own interests or for the motherland, being careful not to get caught or be too corrupt, too greedy, too quickly.
As for gameplay, could be reminiscent of CH2 of Spirit of Hunger.
Maybe two documents reach her desk every day - could be one day->one month. Five months, so there's time to get consequences from the previous actions. It all takes place in her office. The goal could be to get info from various sources (telegraph, history books in her office, convert missives, ecc), and the more info, the more options at her disposal on what to do.
Pros:
Could be fun to work in this setting, what with the clothes of the era, the machinery of bureaucracy, the war aspect, the concealing herself as a big ol' glutton and as a spy.
Cons:
I don’t want to write about war and killings. I reckon the fact that she’s a secretariat gives things enough of a distance (she’d read about losses, sure, that’s plenty fine), but it could still come off a little morbid. Acceptable. And it doesn’t have to be real Europe, it could be with fictitious nations->Dieselpunk, not necessarily historical.

Not the sizes Cheekrod here gets to (that’s too much for me!), more so the setting, the personality, I feel like it’s somewhat adjacent to this idea, just a bit.
2. Hunger of the Hive
Weight gain, Warhammer 40K, grimdark, space travel, unnatural hunger, hypnosis
This one could be about a rogue trader, or a menial on top of a rogue trader's void ship, getting influenced/mind controlled by a far off Tyranid hive ship. Maybe the ship has a gene stealer cult going on.
Could be fun for the main protagonist to... basically misinterpret what the cult/voices from the hive ship are trying to convey. She might get convinced that she needs to eat as much as possible herself, feeling the Tyranids hunger as her own.
So she would have two goals: gorge herself to get fat enough for the Tyranids, then steer or make the ship vulnerable to the hive.
A closer experience to CH3 - a traditional text-adventure with scavenged items.
Pros:
I fucking love Warhammer 40k. Sick franchise. I’m a Mechanicus fan through and through.
Could be fun to work with a hard sci-fi setting in general.
Cons:
It's a grimdark setting. While the tone can be the usual one of my other games, all endings would necessarily need to be bleak in some way or another. Which makes me a bit perplexed as to what I would be drawing for them, once I get to that stage…
I'm not into vore. This is, clearly, a very vore-coded idea (Sidenote: Warhammer 40k literature does reference food from time to time, but it's either slop, hyper-caloric slop only meant for Space marines that kills the average man, Amasec brandy, or the wildest, most decadent dish in the whole galaxy at a banquet, and it’s never described well enough to understand its shape or flavours goddammit why would they do this to me)
This idea does have “Hunger” in the title. I can’t have two games with that in the title, come now. Comforts of the Hive? Hive Control? Food Splicer (like the gene splicers)? I’m not asking Gemini, fuck you. Fit for the Hive? Hive Gut? Gutted Hive?
And yeah. Tyranids eat people. Very vorish. If I don’t get to this one, feel free to steal this idea, vore aficionados.
3. My Fat Life is on the Interweb
Early 2010's web forums aesthetic, chance-based, good-old feedism, personal growth, gooning
Once, there was a game. I cannot find it anymore.
It was basically a timelapse of a girl's life in her twenties and thirties. You progressed through the years, and, at random, for each year, there was a chance for either a fattening event, a neutral one, or one that gets her to coast/lose weight. Something like that.
I could do a version of that, why not.
Maybe it's forum posts from a feedee (starting from 19 years old, ending at 40) as she goes through her life, checking in once a year to log her progress, and talk about what happened (not necessarily what happened through the whole year, could just be her talking about something that happened as of late at the time of posting, or that she noticed). Could be happening in real time - as in, as if the player is seeing the posts as they appear - or it could be very old forum posts. If it’s the latter, the player has sorted from oldest to newest, and is looking through very old stuff, and that could be interesting.
Pros:
Could be fun to get to know this feedee’s personality, her hobbies, her work, and, of course, her passion for growing.
At certain weight stages, she could even decide to post a photo (that's a way to add drawings along the way, of course).
It wouldn't be as long of a project as the other games (don’t quote me on that).
If managed right, it could potentially be very easy to update with new endings or new events, or new routes.
Cons:
It would also not last as long as my other games, but that's not too bad, and the random aspect could add a ton of replayability.
A bit hard to debug, maybe, but these are technical aspects. If there’s a will, there’s a way.
The random aspect is fun, but also... I just don't think it's enough. Or maybe it is? Mm. But I think it might be worthwhile to think of a few ways for the player to be able to steer things. Maybe some events have the option to leave a comment to the girl, or something, and so lead onto a specific route. That adds complexity, but could be managed.
The events would be in sections, with ones related to the year (five year intervals, four sections (to think through, might be a better configuration)) and ones related to weight (5 stages). I need to think through how this would actually work, and if there's something better - again, technical aspects, ignore me.
Finding that original game would help me out, I might try harder.
4. Fattie Simulation
Weight gain, simulations, time-reversal, highly intelligent mc, shyness, experimentation
Let’s say we want to keep using the time-reversal gameplay loop of CH2’s events. How? Well, we could have it be from the frame of reference of someone planning things out.
The spirit employed time manipulation, we wouldn’t have that here. No, here the protagonist could be a genius that made a software to allow her to simulate things out in a very realistic way. A highly intelligent 24 year old girl, maybe shy and a wreck in social or romantic situations. And obviously someone that's been dreaming of giving into the feedee lifestyle all of her life, but can’t do it because she’s fearful it’s going to go bad, or that she won’t have the will to keep it up/flake on being an out of control fattie.
The gameplay loop would take place inside of this simulation. A series of random dioramas that simulate events or days in her life a year in advance - what the computer/AI has predicted are going to be the most pivotal moments for a feedee lifestyle that sustains itself, allowing her to experiment with them (perhaps also to understand why seemingly unassuming events get chosen over and over).
We could have it have a dual screen: one additional one to the side where the real protagonist (the one watching the simulation) writes notes and comments on things. Maybe she talks with an AI chatbot as well? Not a terrible idea, but exceedingly complex. Yes, yes, a will a way, I get it, but I should think it through.
The player would not only be able to play through these events, and to rewind them at will, but also strategically choose them. Maybe they get three choices after each one.
Pros:
Or narrative/routes - I'm obviously getting ahead of myself here, but it could be interesting to have things develop based on things done in the events/dioramas. Or even whole special, or route-focused events appearing in the selection screen.
Could be interesting to write dialogue for a stem, analytical very intelligent character (where my sapiosexuals at)
Cons:
But it could easily lead to a character that’s overly cold.
A bit weird of a concept, hard to wrap one’s head around. It would focus on her psychology, on her reactions on what happens in the simulation or after an event… without having her actually gain weight for real. At least not until a good ending or something. Mm.
