Eleanor and Mary in Autumn (Patreon)
Content
Hey there! Took me a while, but check it out: I've made something cool!
A week or so ago I was mindlessly browsing a book about Mucha - you might've heard of the guy, famous artist, did stuff in paris, Art Nouveau - and, you know, I was gawking at the ladies in there, as I do with any piece of art featuring woman, and gawking at the colors and lines, as I do with any piece of art featuring art.
Eventually, I got to this piece:
And I thought of myself: "uh, look at that, she's holding something from a tea set or something. Mm. Tea? Wait a moment. Didn't Spirit of Hunger have two scenes about getting some tea? And didn't one of them have Mary in it?? And isn't SoH set in late victorian times??? And isn't that pretty damn close to the period of this art nouveau piece???? And wouldn't it be cool to have miss automne here be Eleanor instead?????"
So yeah, I went ahead and did it :) Obviously I did not go for the full art nouveau experience (there's little outlining), I did want to keep my style, not just copy the original materials. But yeah, I studied the piece, and also got to thinking how to also include a second figure - Mary - in it as well. Can't have tea time without the both of them. Luckily, Mucha drew a lot of ladies, in a lot of very useful poses and dresses.
This one was perfect. Set in the summer, but that's fine. She's got a red dress, like Mary does, and it was also a pose I'd never really practiced before, which is nice. To think I wanted to every illustration in SoH in this style and level of detail! A bit much, and wayy too time consuming - this piece alone took me 5 days (on and off of course), so the full game would've likely never seen the light of day, had I gone with that idea.
It's a quieter month, this one, you know how it is. Don't want to repeat myself. But hey, at least I've managed to get some cool artworks of my ocs out, and got to share them. That's nice, that does give warmth and meaning to the soul :)
