You have seen at least one actor in this movie before. The leader of the gang Pike. He was played by the actor William Holden. You saw him on the channel as the screenwriter who ended up dead in the pool in the movie “Sunset Boulevard”

Bartleby

Oh and Dawn, another thing. No yellow filter over the screen when they were in Mexico.

Roger Freeman

You've seen Strother Martin several times. He's such a good character actor you keep missing him! I felt the same way about this movie first time I watched it. I don't ever watch it again. The director did make my favorite rodeo cowboy movie with Steve McQueen, JR Bonner

The Wild Bunch takes place in 1913. America had been mostly civilized and modernized by then from coast to coast. So many of the aging gunslingers ended up in Mexico that still felt more like the old west. The war you see in the film is the Mexican Revolution. Series of battles and power conflicts that lasted a decade. World War 1 started in 1914 but remained concentrated mostly in Europe for the first few years. You did pick up on the idea and themes of the movie Dawn. What do the aging gunslingers do as the wild west draws to a close.

Ragnar Miersch

"Four tiny surfboards." That image will be stuck in my head for days.

Robert Inman

Dawn, you saw Ernest Borgnine in The Dirty Dozen.

Al

The basic theme was a group of men that lived by a code. The back story of the making of the movie is pretty amazing. During filming the on-location armorer kept messaging the Hollywood office to send more ammo.

Al

I saw it when it came out in 1969. This was during the Vietnam War. During the opening gunfight, several people in the audience nearly became sick and left the theater. It was too much for them.

Awesome reaction Dawn, thanks

Actually, to be accurate Dawn, you'd rather be shot than 'hanged'. But it is true however that most men would rather be hung than shot.

Jeremy Smith

You may like The Ring and its sequel, its based on a Japanese horror, though never seen the original personally speaking so I can't vouch for it but its said to be dead scary, trusting by a completely different Japanese horror I won't even mention the name of I can/could imagine it but I'd say the more westernised ones not terribly that scary at all (certainly nothing like The Exorcist I don't think).

Jeremy Smith

When it comes to next christmas, you need to see this! https://youtu.be/bgNWVxfQzBo haha you'll love it (are tons of them on Daily Motion think the whole shows on there tbh, if you can't find it anywhere lol)

Jeremy Smith

The Halloween one of Bottom when Richie keeps making the cattle prod backfire and he keeps pooping himself haha, when eddie says "I can't see anymore, mind if I go infront?" haha

Robert Jewell

Great thoughtful articulate reaction. Director Sam Peckinpah is renowned for making elegiac Westerns with older gunmen facing modernisation like RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY and THE BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE. This film takes place in 1911.
