If/When I get a random chance I'm going for 'True Romance' written by Quentin Tarantino⭐⭐⭐⭐

Louis Marzullo

I don't know but it's a bloody cool title! 😎

Chicago Artist Jon

Tarantino just made it up because it sounded cool. It doesn't really mean anything except a cool sounding label for the group. He's a very strange dude.

Bartleby

If you’re going down this Quinten Tarantino journey. Before you move on to his second film “Pulp Fiction” Highly recommend you see another film Tarantino wrote the screenplay for titled “True Romance” (1993) This film is directed by Tony Scott, director of Top Gun and brother of Ridley Scott. Tarantino’s sale of this script helped Tarantino jumpstart production and attract more investors for this film “Reservoir Dogs” “True Romance” is written by Tarantino but very much the sensibilities of director Tont Scott. It’s a beautiful collaboration and many point to “True Romance” as their favorite film Tarantino worked on. But it’s actually a Tony Scott film. Scott is a much more stylish and visual director than Tarantino.

Toc

You guessed who the rat was in, like, the first five minutes! Well-done! At 18:00 Your reaction to just hearing the name "Marlon Brando" was priceless! Do Brando anytime! You're doing westerns now? Brando only ever directed once, and it was a great western, "One Eyed Jacks"! Definitely put that on your list if you want to mix some Marlon with western, you can hit two birds with one stone on that one. "Viva Zapata" is another great one. He also did a weird, funny western with Jack Nicholson, "The Missouri Breaks"! It's the only time I've ever seen someone outact Jack Nicholson! Definitely do the movie that put him on the map, "A Streetcar Named Desire", just saw an incredible reaction to that one. And since you just did The Godfathers, you should do "The Freshman", where Marlon parodies his Don Corleone character brilliantly! Him and Matthew Broderick! 1990 hit comedy......and just as hilarious as the 3rd Godfather movie, which came out the same year! Only way shorter! :P

Bartleby

Many say True Romance is their favorite film Tarantino worked on. Tony Scott’s stylish visuals and unique tone with the icon music score. Beautiful collaboration

Toc

Oh, most definitely. I just figured that movie is unreactable! But absolutely Last Tango! And same year as The Godfather! You see that (or the movie he made right before Godfather, "The Nightcomers", where he plays a Scottish psycho), that's when you realize just how great his Vito Corleone performance is, and how great of an actor he was. DEFINITELY Last Tango In Paris! If any reactor could react to it, Dawn is the one!!!!!! I can't think of another reactor. I could see James Vs. Cinema doing it, that's the only one I can imagine. And it would not be nearly as hilarious as what Dawn would do with it!!!! (and then there's "The Young Lions", "The Fugitive Kind", "Burn", there are so many good ones.....)

Mark Crawford

For those of us who were there, Reservoir Dogs posters were to the 1990s what lava lamps were to the 1970s. And hands up how many of us saw it dozens of times at midnight screenings as a kind of post-pub chill session? Of course, those were the days when you could get into the cinema for a less than a fiver, so you could see these things more than once on the big screen - but honestly maybe some of us saw this one too many times!

Michael Hartsell

Best thing about Reservoir Dogs is it's followed up by "Pulp Fiction"

Toc

Fantastic reaction, fantastic post-film remarks! I saw this the week it came out, it was definitely "a star is born" moment. The same week I saw the other movie Harvey Keitel was in, "Bad Lieutenant"; both movies signaled a sort of comeback for Harvey, that's what got me into the theatre. But I left a Tarantino fan. He only has 9 films, plus some associated side works that are worth seeing (Natural Born Killers, True Romance, etc etc). You did his first, you might as well do them all in order, "Pulp Fiction" being next. The original 9 and then hit the ones he wrote, there are plenty of fans of each movie. It's the best way to see his movies. Then you'll be all caught up for when he puts out his tenth and last film! It's called (for now) "The Movie Critic, stars Brad Pitt.

Toc

Don't listen to any moron telling you what Tarantino's "best" movie is. All of his movies have their champions (and detractors). If all he ever did was Reservoir Dogs, we'd still be talking about him. That's what put him on the map. And "Pulp Fiction" is his most "iconic", that's the one that kept him there, if there's one quintessential Tarantino film, that's the one. (my fave is his third, and then there are the little boys who say Kill Bill is his best, lol) (and he's got other movies after that) They're all worth seeing, and you'll do great reactions to all of 'em.

Ragnar Miersch

There are few things in the world I enjoy more than watching the "wheels turning" in Dawn's head while she's trying to figure out what's going on in a movie. She instantly makes any day better when she's in Detective Dawn mode.

Toc

I saw it in NYC the week it opened. Went in for the "Comeback of Harvey Keitel" (along with Bad Lietenant which came out at the same time) and came out with a new director to watch out for! A couple of years later, the posters for Pulp Fiction were plastered all over the city, I could not wait for that movie to come out. Saw that the day it opened. Saw Jackie Brown the day it opened. Saw Kill Bill Volume 1 the day it opened. After Kill Bill Volume 1, I didn't make it a point to rush out to see Tarantino movies! And yeah: back in the 90s, here in NYC there was the $2 movie theatre. And then it went up to $3 and we were outraged! :D And all you got were movie previews, a quick concessions stand jingle, and the movie. You never saw a single commercial. I went to see a movie a few months ago: a half hour of commercials....that you can't mute.....mingled with a few previews before the movie started. And the ticket price was $20 for an ok film. I will NEVER set foot in a movie theatre again, what a rip off!

Michael Hartsell

Are you talking to me you weakass loser piece shit? Now don't go and hide. I will hound your ass to the fucking end of time.

Bill W

The song in the ear cutting scene "Stuck In The Middle" is by Scottish band Steelers Wheel. The lead singer Gerry Rafferty was former bandmates with comedian Billy Connolly.

Michael Hartsell

Oh yeah that's right, you are Mr. Badass. I know more than you will ever know and will prove it anytime faggot.

Michael Hartsell

That's twice you have instigated some shit with me, and now I intend to end it. Cowards go and hide!

Jimmy Walker

You will never hear "stuck in the middle" again without thinking about the ear scene.

Michael Hartsell

Hey Dawn has Bartleby gave you the OK yet to watch "Unforgiven" yet? Remember when you said, he had suggested that you wait for some silly reason, on the day before it was scheduled. So has he given you the green light?

Louis Marzullo

I must have listened to "Baker Street" hundreds of times that summer of, what, '78? Between Top 40 AM Station WABC in NYC & my own 45 rpm copy, I wore that sucker out!

Chicago Artist Jon

A plus review by Dawn. Really checked a lot of boxes.

Bill W

Why didn't you buy the LP? It had "Right Down The Line" too! 🤘

Louis Marzullo

Haha! Didn't have the money for LP's at that point! I got a paper route the following year & bought my first 2 vinyl albums, both by The Boss: 'Born to Run' & 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'. Eventually, 'City to City' found its way into my CD collection, too.

Louis Marzullo

Maybe the word you wanted to describe the film is "organic"... And we've discovered the secret to Detective Dawn's success: Don't announce before the movie that she's here! Just let her appear spontaneously as needed! 🔍🔎

Toc

I'm talking about any pea-brained thumbucker LIKE you, Little Mikey, she said "people", Mr. Bowel Movement, that's plural. Aren't you the little boy who hilariously thinks Kill Bill - a movie where Uma Thurman flies in the air like a dopey superhero comic - is Tarantino at his most "adult"? Good luck , Diaperboy: my day beats your year and my taste will ALWAYS be better than yours. Have fun in the shallow end of the pool, Little Mikey!

Toc

(Awwww, THREE comments on top of the seven troll comments you left on my last commet. Man, you must REALLY have no life, holy fuck, you poor wimpy loser...oh this is gonna be fun.)

Michael Hartsell

Get use to this, I am going to wear you ass out. Let ask because I'm not sure, is it Mr. or Mrs. Melody? Sound somewhat feminine to me.

Toc

Hey Dawn, you harbor smelly rodents like this Michael Hartsell in your Patreon, huh? Poor girl!! LOL.

Michael Hartsell

You have this habit of typing paragraphs instead of making a simple point. You are not as intelligent as you try to appear. One more question, do suck dicks??

Toc

Aww, are you triggered little Mikey? Is the loser snowflake who has no life triggered? I must have got under your skin real good! Ha! Mikey......you have no taste! Period! Go watch your flying karate chop movies, little boy, leave the movie talk to the grown ups. i'm going to go have a life now, loser. You go do that typing thing that you do.

Michael Hartsell

Yeah this is not my first time taking care of weak minded fucks like you. Dawn bless her heart has been putting up with my ass for a long time, you can ask anybody, most here hate me and I hate them so were even in my book. Since you are so smart lets have a challenge of some sort, just to test just how bright you really are.

Michael Hartsell

Fantastic Dawn, Fantastic Dawn. brown nosing, ass kissing piece of shit. It will get you nowhere she hates suck ups.

Toc

Wow, I'm trembling in my shoes, Little Mikey, lol. Watch out world.... a Kill Bill fan!

Toc

Yo, Louis. Sorry to bother you, but I've known you for a while so I figured you're the best to ask: What's the deal here? I just joined this Patreon. Is this really just a free for all and I'm not going to get banned for responding to dipshits? Just give me the lay of the land. I leave a comment saying "Looking forward to the next reaction" and I get seven troll comments from the same moron. I just want to make sure this wimp ain't some favored special case or if it really is just an unmoderated troll free-for-all and people can say and do whatever they want. (I flourish in both environments, I just want to check first.....) Thanks, my brother.

Toc

....and you can't spell English either! LOL. It's like shooting a fish in a barrel! Oh this is fun!

Toc

....and LIttle Mikey STILL can't spell! Oh, I got under your skin REAL good. It's 10:00 in NYC, wimp, and I'm about to go play a gig. (musician). You have fun in Loserville, Little Mikey. Remember to wash your hands after you jerk off.

Michael Hartsell

You are stuck on grammar, are you a faggot school teacher? We'll my boy were going to see just how much fun it is.

Michael Hartsell

"Got to go play a gig". Well, well, I have me a first rate punk loser in "stinking" NYC here going to play a gig, I hope you are not over 30 if so it's over, washed up musicians are not in demand these days. I live in the beautiful Smokey Mountains of NC. clean air, guns, and Fox Hounds. Some of us have it all and some have well not much.

Michael Hartsell

On Sundays I try to make right with the Lord, and spend time with the wife and friends. No time punk ass musicians in pathetic NYC, 'Liberal Hell' is what that place is. Watch out for all those illegal invaders your betters are harboring. Fuck, I wish you hadn't told me that, I'm starting to feel pity. Nah

Louis Marzullo

Sorry Bill, I was taught the "If it sounds too good to be true..." maxim. If that Columbia deal worked out for you, congratulations. I liked taking the bus with my buddies on a Saturday & going to the record shop downtown for my vinyl. Then we'd hit the sporting goods store & look around or maybe chip in for a new football, then McD's or ice cream shop afterwards. Those are great memories, wouldn't trade them for anything.

Louis Marzullo

Hey TTM. Yep, Dawn wisely takes a "hands-off" approach & lets us have our own little Deadwood here 😄 Regular good old-fashioned shit-talking will not get you banned & no one gets any special treatment. As Hyman Roth might say, "So, enjoy!"

john ruddick

Excuse me for chiming in here but please be civil people. Michel faggot is a highly offensive term please refrain from using it. You will offend others who you are not talking to in the community. If there are any LGBT people in the comments I apologise on his behalf. And just to be clear you are the only one using slurs melody described English as being a "bitch" not you. Learn to read the room. Please.

Louis Marzullo

I agree, John. I would specify racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, religious prejudice are all most definitely not ok. We're all free to respond to them as we wish if/when they rear their ugly heads. Beyond that, I'm not sure there's anything else to be done at this point. If you have any suggestions, please share. This issue didn't just start yesterday & it isn't about just one person.

Richard Stokes

The Dogs part is a homage to two influential fils on Tarantino Dog Day Afternoon and Straw Dogs which got banned. Also the black ties and suits I think are a reference to a french new wave film where they were wearing them I can't remember the name of but I think it was by Jon Luc Godard. Not sure about the reservoir bit!

Richard Stokes

No it came back to me it was Bande a part (Band of Outsiders) and Tarantino production company was called A Band Apart Films after it. The only reason I know this fairly obscure stuff is because I wrote my English degree dissertation on this and Pulp Fiction. I've actually got some stuff on Pulp Fiction is quite interesting in explaining the message of the film but I'll wait for Dawn to get to that one! Also Reservoir Dogs was filmed mainly in an abbatoir that was still in use, is maybe they were going to call it abbatoir dogs but changed it to sound less grim? That's just a guess

Richard Stokes

Yeah me too, I actually need to watch them properly myself but I've loved the french new wave stuff I have seen

Toc

Ha, Betty Blue. Great movie, haven't seen that.....since the 80s! I'm afraid of seeing that movie again! Has it held up? I know there's some super long director's cut that I have no interest in facing, the theatrical cut was emotional enough!

Bill W

Hey Dawn, Nice Guy Eddie (Chris Penn) was also the bad guy's son in Pale Rider. He is Sean Penn's younger brother. The old guy who you said was your favorite (Lawrence Tierney) was kind of a lunatic in real life. He had been in trouble throughout his career... alcoholism, and arrested several times for theft, disorderly conduct, assault. Apparently everybody in the cast hated him by the time they were done filming.

Toc

Thanks, Louis (and John)! Good to know! And avoiding those areas won't be a problem.
