The scene with Christopher Walken and Dennis hopper is cinema magic.

JL Green

I have a love/hate relationship with this movie mainly because of use of Tarantino's favorite past time of using the "N" word during the interrogation scene which otherwise would be genius had he said "Blacks," but that's just me.

Bartleby

The actor who plays Clarence’s dad, Dennis Hopper, who played the hippie photojournalist in Apocalypse Now. You want to see him in his most iconic role and performance as Frank Booth in the 1986 film “Blue Velvet” MUST SEE!!!

You own the blu ray for True Romance right. You might consider listening to the commentaries and digging into the various bonus features. Fascinating how so many of the elements came together. Like for one Brad Pitt was originally offered the role of Clarence before anyone else was even cast in the film. But Pitt said he just really didn’t get the story and the movie at that time from just reading the script. But he still liked the director Tony Scott and was friends with him. The role of Floyd on the couch causing so much trouble by sending the mob guys where they needed to go appealed to him. It was Brad Pitt’s idea to turn the character into a stoner because the character was only ever on the couch in the script. Now Brad Pitt says he loves the film and is one of the things he’s most proud to be involved with.

BTW Val Kilmer was Elvis.

It's such fun to see someone discovering these classics! And if you want more Christian Slater from this era, then I recommend Heathers.

We need a Christopher Walken poll. Dawn needs to get to know him better... Hope I never know what it feels like to be shot but I imagine the power of the gun makes all the difference. Like the difference between giving birth to a 6-pound vs. a 12-pound baby 😉

Richard Stokes

Dawn I knew you would love this! I think you will get a similar buzz out of Pulp Fiction- then you will have seen the 3 key films that made Tarantino's name. Ok I've got a few recommendations for you based on all of that. For me Christian Slater's most iconic performances are this and Heathers (1989) which Winona Ryder is in too and i think in a sense it's the ultimate 80s teen film. It's very dark and very funny and has a bit of a message. The other one is a bit obscure and it's a film that not everyone will like or find interesting and again its a kind of teen film called 'Interstate 60'. Gary Oldman is a major character in it and it's by the creator of Back to the future Bob Gale and has Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd and even Kurt Russell have cameos in it. It's panned by critics but I really love watching it, to me it's got something that appeals to my childlike imagination! Sicilian guy was Christopher Walken who is one of my (and Tarantino's) favourite actors. He also has a classic cameo in Pulp Fiction. I quite like him in the films Brainstorm and The Dead Zone but he does a good gang boss, like in King Of New York. Anything he is in he is compelling and magnetic for some reason! I'm sure his presence along with Dennis Hopper made that 'greatest scene ever' as great as it was (btw I think you are right it's a scene that always stays with me as one of the great scenes)

Yup. We need a week of Walken. Pool hall junkies, Suicide Kings, Pulp Fiction, I liked him in The Opportunists although it was poorly reviewed. King of New York, At Close Range. Dogs of War is an oldie but a goodie. He’s awesome in Severance which is an awesome series on Apple.

There's an idea. Polls to choose a particular actor/actress and then another poll to do a week of their films exclusively, top 3 or 4.

The movies playing in the theater at the beginning of the movie when Clarence and Alabama meet are real movies. “The Street Fighter” Starring the legendary Sonny Chiba! Sonny Chiba was massive celebrity martial arts actor in Japan. The Street Fighter Trilogy and Sonny Chiba were distinguished in the martial arts scene at the time for excessive brutality in his movies. Sonny Chiba starred in many classic Japanese films.

Simon

Awesome reaction. What happened to not liking "boy movies" 😁

Jimmy Walker

This is another movie leading you to watch "Interview with a vampire"
