DaliiLars

Yaaay! Was waiting for this.

Korny

It’s a great movie, I’m sure it’s the best reaction.

Louis Marzullo

If "Miracle" had won, you wouldn't have to ask that question! 😝 😄

Bartleby

You want to see classic Christopher Walken in a role that won him an Oscar in a classic film! “The Deer Hunter” (1978)

Nathan Wolff

When Frank Abagnale Jr (Leonardo DiCaprio) is preparing for the Louisiana bar exam, it is not a movie that he is watching rather it is an episode of the television series Perry Mason. It ran from 1957-1966.

Bill W

Hey Dawn, many of the claims in Abagnale's book (as well has the movie) have been debunked or at least proven to be inaccurate or exaggerated (for instance, the $ amount of fraudulent checks cashed). That's why it's labeled as "inspired by". That's like a step below "based on".

Louis Marzullo

Is this a good poll category? "Marmite movies". Important in some way (influential/innovative cinematically, historically/culturally significant, big box-office, critically split between high praise & total disdain), extremely polarizing films that inspire a "love it or hate it" reaction. First one that comes to mind for me is "A Clockwork Orange". Guess we've got one already this week, so maybe "not counting Tarantino flicks". I don't know 😄

Louis Marzullo

Haha, thanks Ragnar. So out of character, right? I had already hung up my jester's outfit for the day. 🤡 😁... Dawn's already done NBK, Fight Club, Se7en, Saltburn... eh, maybe never mind.

Bartleby

The kinds of polarizing films you and I may be thinking of would never win such a poll. Even if that was the theme.

Louis Marzullo

You never know. SOMETHING would have to win. Chance for Texas Chainsaw Massacre to get into a poll. Not a spoiler to say it's not as bloody as title implies, is it? (Maybe it's just the sound the thing makes that bothers Dawn so much! 😄)

Bartleby

I would love to see a film like Eraserhead win such a poll. Don’t get more polarizing than that! I just don’t see that happening. Just call me Dennis Downer lol But perhaps if the more polarizing films could be leveraged so something like The Hills Have Eyes or Videodrome can get through, still worth while.

Louis Marzullo

That's the spirit, Dennis! And if it happens during the Olympics, Dawn might be inspired to do the top 3 & you may just get your wish for something truly divisive to sneak onto the podium!

Louis Marzullo

This was Leo's warm-up for Jay Gatsby.

Bartleby

The only movie “inspired by a true story” that would have been a more incredulous pick would have been Fargo. CMIYC is a fun solid film! But hopefully next time around for the true story poll we get something more based on real events and less on someone’s tall tales.

Jimmy Walker

May I suggest that we give back to Dawn on the next poll? Make the next poll "chick flix" movies.

Louis Marzullo

I think it's too late! Plus she probably saw them all in her former life, B.C. (Before Channel) 😁

Jimmy Walker

I figured we all could make suggestions and she could pick ones she has not seen and then we vote on the one to watch. She has watched enough "boy" movies here of late.

Louis Marzullo

Hmm, ok. I'd go with Bridges of Madison County, which has already been suggested in the past. I doubt she's seen it. ☺️

Bill W

I'll meet you half-way with Grosse Pointe Blank. But also...it's Dawn's channel. She's free to make executive decisions and watch whatever she wants on occasion.

Bartleby

@Louis I’ve suggested Bridges of Madison County before. I am convinced Dawn would love it! And she has yet to be introduced to Meryl Streep. Bridges would be an ideal introduction to her. Every other channel reacting to Gran Torino all day long, but no one has reacted to Bridges. And honestly Bridges of Madison County is one of Clint Eastwood’s greatest films that he directed. A chick flick doesn’t have to be inane dribble. Little Woman with Winona Ryder. Even Clueless with Alicia Silverstone which is based on Jane Austen.

Bartleby

I just remembered! Speaking of Winona Ryder. “Mermaids”!!! With Winona Ryder and Cher. Chick Flix could be great category as long as people don’t get hung up on and only recommend Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock rom coms. Which yes, are mostly inane dribble There should be a limit imposed ahead of time. Only one Julia Roberts and one Sandra Bullock movie per Chick Flick poll.
