I've opened this vote up to all members, PAID and FREE, but be QUICK! You've only got 24 hours to vote! 🤪 Just kidding, I'll set it to end on Saturday night (22nd)!

Louis Marzullo

You had me there for a second, you merry prankster! 🃏😄

Chicago Artist Jon

Dog Day Afternoon is the movie where Al Pacino takes his dog to the park and they play frisbee and chase squirrels.

proVaxxer

You should use those polls where people are allowed to vote for multiple things.

Brandon Williams

24 hours for the 24-hour poll? Sounds fitting. I went "Dog Day Afternoon." And it's based on a true story, too.

Dag Einar Bergli

Training Day is still my pick, but out of these...Superbad all day. Pun intended.

Andreas Benning

I stopped reading after American Graffiti, a no-brainer for me!

N M

You forgot TRAINING DAY! Better than all of those!

N M

DOG DAY is a good movie, no doubt, but a bit old, from the mid 1970s. I would prefer to see a more modern day popular movie, from the late 80s, with funny parts as well as drama, and since it’s the beginning of summer, then a summer time movie would be more enjoyable at this time as well, and one that takes place in New York City. For all of these reasons, I vote for DO THE RIGHT THING (1989).

Manny

I stopped reading No OTHER choice for me...when I saw American Graffiti.

Louis Marzullo

I'll probably change my pick 3 times.

Calico Jack

There's a Sylvester Stallone comedy that takes place from the a.m. to lunch in a constant flow. "Oscar" from 1991. Maybe in the future?

TuneIntoSanityFM

IT'S..... 🧔‍♀️ -nice to be able to say Hi!

facechasebass

Assault on Precinct 13 is highly underrated

N M

Maybe she’s already seen it. Hard to overlook

Louis Marzullo

No, she never saw. Said so on livestream. Guess it just didn't get enough support. Hard to believe.

N M

Hmmm. Well then maybe it’s already in the pipeline and she wanted another “day” film. One of the best performances by a lead actor (Oscar winning I think, if I remember correctly)

Robert Dannhauser

I think American Graffiti is great for people that grew up here and understand the car culture of the era. But for someone that grew up in Scotland I don't think it would be as good. I've watched reactors from other countries watch it and they just didn't get it.

geoff allen

I guess “Groundhog Day” was kinda like “cheating”… 🤪. “Do the Right Thing” was almost like a documentary… pretty powerful…

Darrell Palmer

Dawn will love it for the love stories, but she'll enjoy the car culture even if she doesn't get it.

Artur Nienartowicz

"Do the right thing" is now grossly and unjustly underappreciated. Plus I don't think Dawnmarie has ever reacted to any Spike Lee... Sudying in Poland in early 1990s I had "Do the right thing" as my compulsory viewing and it made quite an impression on me. I'm not trying to say that it's in any way better than the other films in the selection. They are all masterpieces and/or classics now. I'm saying - it's different and it's worthy.

Elliot Nesterman

"Dog Day Afternoon" ticks two boxes: takes place in 24 hours, and based on true events. Plus Pacino's and Cazale's performances are brilliant. On an entirely different topic, I've yet to see anyone react to "Midnight Cowboy," which is a real shame as it is a signal film of the 60s.

SnabbKassa

well I think it's a revolting film that shows how corrupt the US has become because of the war on drugs, but it never makes the point of saying that war should end.

Bartleby

@Robert I’m sure many thought that about a girl from Scotland watching American westerns.

Bartleby

@Andrew That’s not a valid criticism. Just because a movie doesn’t mouth the talking point you want to hear doesn’t make it a bad movie. Training Day is more character study than it is aiming to be some socio-political study of a movie. You want to see that kind of story, watch the show The Wire. But that’s not what Training Day set out to be. You can’t criticize a movie for something it isn’t intending to be.

Mannygogou

I think maybe Crank happened inside 24 hours, not sure. Maybe Falling Down, Y/N? Maybe even Lucy(?) Of course the classic The Warriors. Although I can't be sure, it's hard to confirm timeline in these. Die Hard 3 With a Vengeance? I must be misremembering all these. Collateral? Y/N Phone Booth... yes? Speed can't be, right?

Mannygogou

I've changed my pick 4 times now from reading the comments, lol

N M

Yes! Plus the state of race relations in New York City during this time is very interesting!

Louis Marzullo

I'm all for it but movies don't get much bleaker. Probably why no reactions to it. Hopefully when Dawn does NYC week. 🗽

Louis Marzullo

@Andrew Jackson- we can also ask Dawn to add the movie "Traffic" to her list for something closer to what you're seeking.

john ruddick

Dog day afternoon is a must at some point.

Bill W

Falling Down, Warriors and Collateral yes. Dawn already watched Speed.

Edward Olson

Groundhog Day starts at 6pm on the 1st and ends at 8am on the 3rd. That's a minimum of 38 hours.

Toc

Fantastic poll. American Graffiti, Dazed And Confused, After Hours and Dog Day Afternoon are four of my absolute top fave movies of all time. Do The Right Thing and Run Lola Run are also major faves. And the other two are certainly worthy of a reaction video.

Toc

WARNING ABOUT AMERICAN GRAFFITI: Do not watch it on Prime! Someone needs to check her copy before she watches it (if it wins). The version on Prime is MISSING THE ENDING. I've seen two reactions for it, and neither have the ending, both watched it on Prime. Totally ruined the reactions. PM me if you want to know more. Whoever is Dawn's closest assistant, make sure her copy has the ending......and I mean, the full, real ending. PM me for clarity.

geoff allen

Yes, Ed… that’s why I made a joke about it being like cheating… cramming 38 hours into 24 - actually seemed more like 98…🙂. i will mention that in “Do the Right Thing”, the acting was very smooth and believable - from Danny Aiello as the shop owner, to Rosie Perez as the girlfriend, to Spike and all the supporting cast. Nice job.

Richard Stokes

Have gone with dazed and confused, as it captures a time in your life that I (and I'm guessing most people) remember fondly before the real world turns up! I also remember enjoying After Hours a lot, though it won't win

Toc

Thanks! That's a relief! PS: Love Stax! 😄 Right on!

Bill W

Both listings on Amazon Prime showed 112 minute (1 hr 52 min) run time, btw. Also what Wiki and Youtube shows. All other sources say 109-110 minutes.

Bill W

Also, re: Stax.. gotta get Dawn to watch The Commitments!

TuneIntoSanityFM

That's not Jesus, it's a woman with a beard, a reference to when Dawn cosplayed the IT'S man from Monty Python 😋

Bartleby

Kids nowadays only know about the likes of a Tarantino. But they don’t know how revolutionary a film and filmmaker Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing” was. It could be argued Spike Lee has a greater body of work too. A Spike Lee film I absolutely love! That is really just genuine genius! “Summer of Sam” That is a brilliant film that isn’t acknowledged nearly as much as it should be.

Eric Janssen

American Graffiti is a good have-to-watch 70's choice, even though After Hours so SUMS UP the category...

geoff allen

I remember that film, Bartleby… Spike really captured the weirdness and insanity and the latent terror of those times. 👍

Bruce Jarman

"Dog Day Afternoon" is a must at some point.

mainmac

I panicked seeing the subject in my email, thinking I only had 24 hours to cast my vote, lol!

popandroid

where's your boy Bill Murray in Meatballs and Rushmore?? and she still hasn't done Stripes? Tootsie? Fast Times? Caddy Shack? Animal House? still SO much catching up to do...and f'ing American Graffiti is winning the poll!?! who are these peeps?! this is why I don't pay haha, what's the point, people are morons. the only real hope is she sometimes goes rogue and actually picks a good one but it seems like it's pure luck.

Bartleby

Summer of Sam is so good! As is the cast that is firing on all cylinders. It feels so authentic too. The character of the city and different worlds within the city. Discos and punk rock and the mob. The more I think of that film, the more I’m convinced it is grossly under appreciated

geoff allen

I think as time goes on she has to TRY to please more and more and more viewers - and everyone’s different. It’s a heavy chore to pick one movie that a huge roomful of men will all enjoy at the same time. She seems to try real hard - she tries to be “democratic” and that always merges fairness with some mediocrity. She says she’s a genius and psychic with ESP - but, Hollywood must shoulder some of the blame…🙂

Carol Rocha

I thought the theme was “movies that take place in 24 hours”, ie 1 day. ??

Bartleby

Movies that take place within 24 hours. Do the Right Things starts one morning, and ends the next morning.
