Thanks everyone for taking part in the vote 😊 here's your top three choices from the selection of John Hughes movies!

National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)

The Breakfast Club (1985)

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)

I saw a comment saying to watch them in release order (can't find the comment anymore), so I could see the progression of John's directing style. I thought that was quite a good idea. So, I'm going to suggest I watch them in the order in the image, with National Lampoon's Vacation first.

You're the best Dawn Marie and I am proud to be a part of team Dawn!

To be fair he didn’t direct Vacation but his writing style is all over it!

Hey, Dawn! It was my comment to help you enjoy them like us fans did back in the day. It's the last comment on the Director's Cut # 1 Poll post. The idea about watching him improve his craft with each new film was actually one I borrowed from a recent documentary on John Hughes I'd seen awhile back. He was an amazing man & gone far too young. He lives on in the legacy of all of his creative genius works as a Legendary Visionary to worldwide fans of all ages! It'll be a blast seeing what you think of each one, Dawn! I'm not a super fan of every film John Hughes ever made but I recall it was really fun discovering what his newest films were as they came out! So many became Legends that still hit home to this day! :)

Should be fun. Some more directors to consider for future Directors Cuts. Oliver Stone Ridley Scott Akira Kurosawa Frances Ford Coppola John Waters

Glenda Kennedy

Can’t wait to see your reactions to these. Great fun movies!

I hate to sound greedy.... but I really hope you watch Uncle Buck and The Great Outdoors as well. Two of John Candy's best. Especially Uncle Buck- it's hilarious and heartwarming. Mr. Mom is also a great early one written by Hughes, starring Michael Keaton.

And frankly, his NOT directing it improved the comic timing immensely. If we’re looking for a “distinctive” Hughes directorial style, “Subtlety” isn’t it.

2 of my 3 choices made it! Feel like I won the lottery! Haven't seen B'fast Club since college in the 80's but I guess I can sit thru the reaction. Maybe. Either way, 👍

National Lampoon's Vacation's screenplay was written by John Hughes. That means EVERY word said in the ENTIRE film, ad lib aside, was written solely by John Hughes. It was filmed using exactly the same words, ad lib aside, under the guidance of the film's director, in this case, Harold Ramis. All movies start as a written story, beginning to end. The screenplay of ALL films & TV shows is ALL the words ACTUALLY said on camera to tell that story. All screenplays are the true official scripts. That's why for some movies, TV, etc, the author who wrote the story can be different than who wrote the screenplay of the movie or show. JS. :)

Superb stuff - I am sure you will like them all - especially The Breakfast Club (but the others are very good too!) Cannot wait to see these reactions!

Uncle Buck is arguably Candy's finest along with PT&As. Still, that just my opinion, and I'm more than willing to bury the hatchet with others.

Holiday Road....oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, Holiday Road, oh oh oh oh oh!!!

Alan Parker! Midnight Express, Fame, Pink Floyd- The Wall, Angel Heart, Mississippi Burning, Come See The Paradise, The Commitments, Evita, Angela's Ashes

Doesn't really matter which order you watch them, since they aren't really related. That order is good for mixture, 2 comedies surrounding a High school drama
