Just a quick check in to see how you all are. I'm off to a charity quiz tonight, so I'm hoping all the questions are movie related, as I'm armed with all the info you guys give me from the different movies 🎞️

For those on Discord, what topics of discussion would you like to see? Someone had suggested Movie Spoilers, Music, Meme/Gif and Movie Posters. On top of that I'd like to add in a Travel discussion (best places you've been, pics, etc) and also a Local Dishes section where everyone can post what they're local food is like. But what else would you like to see included?

Hi Dawn. Hope you're doing well. I have two suggestions for upcoming movies; Colombiana starring Zoe Saldana, and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, a black and white comedy featuring Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolf Man. As far as travel is concerned, one of the most fascinating places I've ever seen was the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands. Oddly enough, the city of Harlem in the United States was named after this city.

Dawn, you use to react to quality movies but lately your choices have fallen to mediocracy. "Some" of the people here would not know a quality film if it smacked them on the ass and said here I am. Old Boomer just stating facts!

To be fair, she’s relying on her patrons and YouTube subscribers to vote in polls and for movie suggestions. Considering she’s going in mostly blind to whatever the movie may be. If you feel there’s a dip in quality of the movies she’s watching now, blame the people suggesting mediocre movies. This could also be due to Dawn’s channel growing in subscribers and popularity. With the droves of newcomers, inevitably comes the mediocre tastes and less exciting, less interesting, and safer choices in movie recommendations. Every new video Dawn posts there’s some percentage of people offended and baffled at the fact that Dawn ever watches any movies made before the 80s. These same people will then insists upon Dawn all the standard safe cookie cutter movie choices every other channel goes with.

Well, I really enjoy your movie reviews, sounds like you're trying to branch out a bit? IDK. But I really hope you'll continue with movies as well. One thing; I haven't noticed any classics that are related to religion, there are some all-time great movies like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben Hur". The latter really is totally fiction, not based on the bible. I'm really NOT very religious, but these two movies are outstanding! Also "Spartacus" with Kirk Douglas, or "Patton" if you want another war movie...so many more old classic films that had a HUGE social impact when released. BTW, I LOVE LOVE LOVE when you blow kisses at the end of your videos!!!

I think in Dawn's situation you can't please everyone all the time as we all have differing ideas on what makes a great film. Also as Sam covered a lot of the reasons we get the content we do and it's the growing channel populace making more mainstream choices that's not Dawns choices largely. I think the directors cut idea she just brought in is a very good method of getting through some of the classic directors which is going to get a lot of the cult classics covered eventually which should keep the quality high. I suggested to her a Patreon user of the month type choice might be good too as then everyone can always think they might have the chance for their favourite film to get shown. Am trying to think of method to gets some of the conneisseur picks in rather than just the blockbusters

How about suggesting at least one pick from "1,001 Movies to See Before You Die" per week? When was the last printing of that? Also, Dawn wants to do this full-time if she has enough patrons. That should lead to increase in volume of quality films as well as the more pedestrian fare

I love the idea of travel and food. I also like the idea of cinema discussion for things currently on (either new movies or festivals etc)

I think the “1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die” book would be great resource for Dawn to have. Someone send her a copy to her PO Box!! And then Dawn could just open the book randomly and watch whatever film the book opens to. That seems like it’d be a lot more fun than going down some list.
