Might be my favorite in the series. Although it’s a tough choice between this one and the first movie.

Eric Bonham

Yes, that was Gimli. He was also in the first one, but you didn't seem to recognize him. Yes, that guy was in Braveheart. And there was another person you didn't recognize. The king who gave the tanks in exchange for the Rolls Royce was Alexei Sayle who played the Balowski family in The Young Ones. The Crusades were a series of wars fought during the Middle Ages by Christian Europe to regain control of the Holy Land from the Muslims. The knight guarding the Grail was supposed to be a Crusader. He spoke surprisingly modern English for a 13th century knight. Indy did say cup of a carpenter because Jesus and his father Joseph were carpenters. But that doesn't mean the cup itself would have been made of wood. It just would have indicated that it wouldn't have been made of gold. If you want to see Marcus again, I suggest watching Trading Places. That'd be your second Eddie Murphy movie I believe.

Mike McLaughlin

Loved your reaction to the Sean Connery character's comment of, "I should have sent it to the Marx Brothers." This watching older movies opens a lot of references like that one. The more and more movies, the more and more references. It adds to the fun and flavor of movie watching.

Dawn!! Before you rewatch Monty Python and the Holy Grail, check out the 1981 movie “Excalibur” The best film adaptation of the legend of King Arthur and the quest for the Holy Grail. This movie does the best job of adapting the various Arthurian myths into a single film.

Bartleby

Agreed. I was waiting for Dawn’s reaction to that line from Sean Connery in the movie.

Dawn, there's more to Indiana being the name of the dog. Indiana was the name of George Lucas's dog when they made Raiders. It was the same breed as the dog shown in this movie. It was a bit of movie trivia that gained a special laugh for those that knew of this when watching the conclusion of Last Crusade.

Robert Inman

Dawn, the Germans were using zeppelins (think the Hindenburg) which had a rigid framework and gas cells inside. Blimps were much simpler with cabins hung essentially from a big balloon.

Robert Inman

One of my favorite lines:"I was the next man"

Wayne Kryka

Did you recognize Alexei Sayle from The Young Ones ?

Fantastic. 2,000 rats were bred for the production. Breeding them especially was necessary, as ordinary rats would have been riddled with disease. Harrison Ford nominated River Phoenix to play him as a teenager, having worked with him before on his favourite of his many movies, The Mosquito Coast (1986). When describing how he prepared for playing the role, Phoenix explained that he didn't base his portrayal on the Indiana Jones character, but on Harrison Ford. So he observed Ford out of character before acting his part.
