Ha! I also get into trouble kissing random ladies. My wife hates it when I do that. The "blimp" was an airship, and yes people did travel on them for a while. Blimps and airships had different construction. I think the Hindenburg explosion and crash put an end to the airships. Look up Hindenburg disaster. Also, you are correct Salah and Gimli were played by the same actor. It was fun to watch along Dawn.

Totally random movie suggestion!! “Cape Fear” (1991) When you’re in the mood for a juicy crime thriller… This is a phenomenal film with some excellent and powerful performances.

Zeppelins were quite large and luxurious and made the Atlantic crossing a number of times. However, helium being unobtainable, they were filled with Hydrogen, which is extremely flammable. Zeppelins are also rather unstable in high winds.

The holy grail is the cup used by Jesus in the Last Supper.. Jesus was a carpenter, so his cup would be plainer like you guessed.

The Crusades were a series of religious conquests in the middle ages. All were waged in the name of the Latin Church (but not necessarily in the name of God). Most were military in nature, but some were to recover (or steal) religious and/or historical artifacts. The "Holy Grail" and the actual cup Christ used at the Last Supper are two legends that got combined along the way, namely in the novel "L'morte d' Arthur" about mythical King Arthur. (spoofed in Monty Python and the Holy Grail),

Probably the best film to present the many Christian myths and religious conspiracy theories in thriller form is "The Da Vinci Code" (2006) starring Tom Hanks. While not as engrossing as Dan Brown's novel, it does present the stories as a sort of chase and race to beat the 'bad guys' to find the truth.

After all the many times I've seen this movie since I was a kid I just now caught how they foreshadow the end at the very beginning. When Indy is brought in to see the stone tablet the guy says that his father went missing right as they were one step away from recovering the grail. Indy says, "that's usually when the ground falls out from under you." When Elsa is one step away from leaving with the grail she crosses the seal and the ground falls out from under her.

Since the dog was Indiana, they should make a “Young Adventures of Indiana & Indiana”. Harrison Ford has a goofy bow legged running style, which they made him do a lot in the Star Wars and Indiana films. I always chuckle when River Phoenix uses the same run as he’s coming out of the cave. The Crusades were 200 years of religious wars between Christians and Muslims around the 12th century, when mostly French knights campaigned through Turkey, Syria and Palestine to “reclaim” Jerusalem. It was brutal and went prettier badly for the Christians as after five major campaigns they kept getting their arses handed to them having conquered and then lost Jerusalem several times. While the Crusades were very real, the grail quest mostly comes from Arthurian legend of the same time, and they don’t have much to do with each other. Monty Python’s version is actually closer to the source material. The fact you forgot about the grail is a perfect example of what Alfred Hitchcock called a MacGuffin… a central plot device used to tell a story, but actually meaningless.

There already was a tv show in the early 90s called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. It ran for only 2 years.
