Two very different movies for you all this week! Anyone else slightly confused by The Grand Budapest Hotel or was it just me? 🤪

Grand Budapest - truly beautiful, absolutely hilarious and one of my favorite ever movies. It's sweeter and more delicious than the finest of Herr Mendl's confections. I don't find it confusing, but it's understandable as Wes Anderson has a unique way of storytelling!

Gary Mackley-Smith

The Grand Budapest hotel is a wonderful quirky film by Wes Anderson. You should also watch his latest film: Asteroid City.

JL Green

Although it didn't get a lot of notice upon its release, it's worth a watch. For me once was enough (I know, not a ringing endorsement). However everybody knows and loves Forrest Gump! Tom Hanks must have watched a lot of Chauncey Gardner in Being There and Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man 😆.

Louis Marzullo

Haven't seen Grand Budapest but love Wes Anderson, especially Rushmore. Hope it's on your list. And Royal Tennenbaums. And Darjeeling Limited🚂🚂🚂

Ah, the Wes Anderson battle: One of the most contentious holy wars right now are those who think Wes’s films are cutesy, precious, overbearingly overstylized self-contented twaddle, where every actor worth his salt lines up to play Wes’s image of cutesy, precious, pretentiously overstylized Quirkiness, in movies where every shot is the same "Posed picture postcard” shot for two hours (leading to the new annoying viral trend of copying his films on YouTube and Twitter), and those zealots saying “Of course, that’s why he’s a maverick GENIUS who does things his own way! ☺️” Clearly one of the zealots got to you first, and wanted the whole world of unsuspecting new converts to join their love-in, but be aware- It’s YOUR channel. It’s your two hours. It’s your call.

Yeah Wes Anderson is one of the most iconic directors working today with a totally unique and distinctive style. There are those who thrive in mediocrity, then there are those who have the courage to venture beyond the safe normie world to see the world in a unique way. Do hope you check out his other films “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Moonrise Kingdom”

I have a bit of a soft spot for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou by Wes Anderson.

Brian L Hughes

You should watch the french director & actor Jacques Tati in Mr Hugo's Holiday, he made a few others, Mon Oncle and Traffic.

I guess you could best describe Anderson as a "Cult" director-- In that he does exactly what a Cult Leader does: Dazzle you with nonsensical psychobabble to make you think he has the bold new answers your own confused life has been searching for, and that all you have to do is abandon everything sensible you know, leave your own life of "mediocrity" behind, and follow him to make his pockets richer. After which, he sits up high on his own hog, enjoying himself with his own eccentric jollies, and getting fat off of his followers shaving their heads and rushing to the airports to spread his Holy Message to new converts... That still hasn't stopped Wes's obnoxious self-love style, deliberately removed from all human behavior, from becoming literally the latest laughingstock of SNL and online parody: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trWLY6NrS2Q

Did Wes Anderson run over your dog? He makes movies that aren’t your cup of tea. Chill bruh… No reason to get your panties in a bunch.

Jordan Love

Surprisingly, I find it one of the least confusing Wes Anderson movies. That's not to say you shouldn't watch others, just be prepared. Once you get a sense of his style and favorite actors, the A.I. trailers that show what other movies would look like if they were made by Wes Anderson are pretty amusing. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are some of my favorites.

Clayton Johnson

Hope you have your box of Chocolates when watching Forest Gump

Eric Janssen

I had to put up with you people way back when you were saying the exact same things about Tim Burton, and before you all started shoving Breaking Bad down our throats. Call me unimpressed, from the benefit of experience.

Bartleby

I see… Ever stop to consider maybe it’s not the rest of the world that’s wrong. Maybe it’s just you that sucks

Bartleby

You’ll have to forgive Eric. Wes Anderson personally ran over his dog.
