Oh, I've been waiting for this to drop - along with The Thing it's my favourite comfort movie (odd selection, I know). Time to grab some scran then settle in for a watch!

Hahaha good choices! My others besides this would be Pulp Fiction and Alien. Not sure if I want Dawn to know Pulp Fiction but.... up to you, Dawn! <3 <3

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Classic Jules Verne story made into a 1954 movie!!

This was only Steven Spielberg's SECOND feature film (1st was DUEL about a man vs a truck of all things :o ), and by many many people this is also considered the FIRST TRUE BLOCKBUSTER in movie history.

Tim Boxall

Aye, first true summer blockbuster, and one that put an entire generation off open water swimming. Several decades later, I still can't bring myself to dip a single toe in! 😂🦈

You asked for more 'killer animal' movies ... here's a short list. The Naked Jungle (1954) Beginning of the End (1957)

Phase IV (1974)

So.... I took notes (LOL) Roy Scheider is Martin Brody. Richard Dreyfuss is Matt Hooper. Robert Shaw is Quint (Sam Quint in the novel). - It is spelled CORONER, Brody is a bad speller or bad typist... - Why not the bigger lady? Because she wasn't splashing about. - Shark digestion is very slow so the boy would be easily identifiable, unfortunately. Mayor was wrong about almost everything but that was NOT the time and place to open the shark (even though it wasn't THE shark). - The Hull is the outside/wall of a boat. - Ben Gardner was the one who called Matt Hooper "young feller" and said stuff on the water like, "Wait til they get in them rocks, boy. They'll wish their fathers never met their mothers." The shark ate all of him except his head, which scared Hooper (and most peeps!) - Peter Benchley, the author of the novel JAWS was the TV reporter on the beach on 4th of July. - Although Amity Island in New York is fictitious, It was filmed in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. Beautiful place. Never been but I have eyes. lol - Everyone asks, why "No whistles!!" I don't know why either. ANYONE? - Michael didn't want coffee, he wanted coffee ice cream. Nothing wrong with coffee ice cream (though my faves are mint chocolate chip and cherry vanilla). - "Here's to swimmin' with bole-legged women." It's a thing... IDK where or when it originated but I first heard it in the 70's Korean War show M*A*S*H -- Colonel Potter sings in the shower-- "I love goin' swimmin' with bole-legged women and swim between their legs, swim between their legs..." and then Father Mulcahy walks into the shower tent. Oops! - Orcas are mean? Where you get that? They're just whales. "Killer" is a bit exaggerated; they aren't man-eaters. - Brody was putting cologne to his nose to mask the smell of the chum. UGH... - Since sharks must keep moving to live, the barrels are meant to tire them out. If they stop moving, no water moves through their gills and they can die from oxygen deprivation. - Yes the story of the USS Indianapolis is true, embellished a little for the movie. Though Quint said 1100 men went in and 316 came out alive, my quick research says 900 men went in. That's STILL two-thirds of the men got by sharks. Bloody Hell... - That was a real shooting star/meteorite you saw in the movie; at least the first time when Brody is loading his gun. The other probably is too; but since Spielberg has been adding shooting stars to all his movies ever since, who really knows? But that FIRST one was REAL. - You want a name for the shark? Okay, true Tolkien fans will know why: SARUMAN - Old divers' trick-- spit-clean the inside of your mask/goggles and then rinse with seawater for clarity. It works. My mom was a SCUBA diver and I learned from her when we went to Grand Cayman the summer after I finished 6th or 7th grade. - Notice how the first part of the movie, the music = shark... and then in the rest of the movie, the SILENCE = shark!! lol - The live shark footage was only (as far as I know only) the shots of the shark thrashing on top of the empty cage. They used a miniature cage for those shots. Maybe there was a bit more somewhere. (?????) - YOU CALLED IT with the air tank... ~>BOOM!!!<~ - "Incredible" is a fine word. - JAWS 2 is good but certainly not AS good as this! JAWS 3 was a 3D movie-- still good-ISH, lol, but each movie is a bit less good). JAWS: The Revenge stars Lorraine Gary once again as Ellen Brody. The worst of the series still has its moments (though they are few). I loved this reaction Dawn LOVED IT!! Proper kisses to you!! I had another reaction drop a minute before this but you got dibs! Til next time!!

Maybe a character limit? I've written plenty of novel-length comments before without this happening... lol

Eric Bonham

You've got a much better eye than me when it comes to looking for penises.

FYI Dawn. Most killer animal movies suck. And not like a little, but a lot. A couple quality killer animal movies. “The Edge” (1997) “The Grey” (2011)

Bill W

*bow-legged... rounded in shape as if from riding a horse. (interpreted as open legged= promiscuous) *it's true that Orcas aren't known man-eaters but they have been witnessed "toying" with their prey. Not sure I'd call them cruel. Super intelligent, though. (and technically are dolphins.)

Bartleby

Oh and Dawn. Another quality killer animal movie. One actually based on a true story. “The Ghost and the Darkness” (1996)

Michael Lynch

He said the hull of the boat, not the ho of the boat. Lol.

And as far as shark meat, it's really quite good milder tasting the a lot of other sea foods. Only saw it once on seafood restaurant
