Bill W

Are you all not allowed on Youtube chat?

Louis Marzullo

Cup of warm water with teaspoon of sugar will settle the tummy right down

Louis Marzullo

LOL, Phil Spector is a genius but also murdered someone!

MertzRocks

Nathan Wolff

Hang'Em High, Clint Eastwood (1968) would be another suggestion.

John Liebling

Danny Kaye is silly in the Court Jester.

John Liebling

Dawn, would you consider watch some episodes of "You Bet Your Life" with an older Groucho Marx?

Nathan Wolff

If you are looking for more Schwarzenegger movies you might want to consider True Lies, Kindergarten Cop,and Total Recall.

John Liebling

A good repairing of John Wayne and Maureen O'hara would be the western McLintock. Dawn, you liked them both in the "Quiet Man"

Bill W

Bjorn they were talking trash about ABBA! Where did you go? 😀

Bill W

Bruce Dern who we just saw in The Cowboys is in that one too!

Bill W

It's not Christmas until I play that album all the way through. Since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Dawn like the opening song in Gremlins, so I thought she should own it. Darlene Love - Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home).

Louis Marzullo

It's an iconic tune, of course, but one I find hard to listen to whilst suffering from single-ness, especially at Yuletide

Bill W

Yeah i get it although I'm just accustomed to it now. I miss Darlene Love singing it every year on Letterman.

Louis Marzullo

That was an incredible box of treats, Bill! The torn open bag of peanut M&M's traumatized me! Was that the regular or sharing size?

Bill W

"Junior" with Danny DeVito and Emma Thompson. also "Twins" with DeVito. Twins ('88), Kindergarten Cop ('90) and Junior ('94) were all directed by Ivan Reitman.

Bill W

Ehhh there's a slim chance she may have heard of The Munsters. I'm not proposing to use it as a selling point. 😀

Bill W

Just a regular size bag. Should've gotten the movie theater box. Then it wouldn't have burst open like the popcorn. When Dawn watched Clerks..the scene where they're lying on the floor Dawn was checking out the candy. I just sent her one of everything I could identify from the freeze-frame. Some stuff I couldn't find.. And that was the only size Tootsie Roll! I couldn't find the regular 4" size. 😀

Louis Marzullo

Ouch. Just heard Wayne Kramer died. Amazing he made it to 75. MC5 one of my top 5 favorite bands. RIP

John Liebling

Dawn that's great you're watching a lot of Clint Eastwood movies. You might want to also look at some John Wayne movies. The following are some from the 30s to the 70s: 1. Stagecoach 1939 - it started it all 2. Red Rivere 1948 3. Fort Apache 1948 4. The Searchers 1956 5. Rio Bravo 1959 6. The Longest Day 1962 7. McLintock 1963 - with Maureen O'hara 8. El Dorado 1966 - young James Caan - sonny from the Godfather, and the dad from Elf 9. The Shootist 1976 - his last film before he died from cancer.

Björn Karlsson

Loooots of great music from Sweden since the late 80-ies. The Hives, The Cardigans, Roxette, Ace of base, Robyn Carlsson, Europe, Sabaton etc etc 🙂

Louis Marzullo

LOVE The Hives, Bjorn. The rest... eh. I don't drink anything stronger than beer but musically, I do tend towards the hard stuff. And by "hard" I mean in intensity & passion as much as sonically. I first got into Bob Dylan when I saw the title "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding" and thought, "Now THAT'S hard!" And the song itself more than lived up to the title. Bill got the ball rolling with First Aid Kit; how about some more Swedish folk artists?

Louis Marzullo

👍👍👍 It's funny, I'd been looking for a reason to finally dive into Meshuggah after hearing about them for so long. Arch Enemy sounds VERY intriguing based on what I just read about them. Entombed I will dip a toe, see what happens 😁 I even listen to some black metal, despite being a staunch Christian. Have to admit, the genre fascinates me on some level. Yes, I have seen the cover of "The Dawn of the Black Hearts". Poor soul, RIP. Thanks, Bjorn! Still hoping for some Swedish acoustic folk!

Björn Karlsson

Well if you like drummers 😄 Thomas Haake in Meshuggah is great 😄 The beat for "Bleed" is very fameous 🤘🤘If you want "softer" rock is maybe Lars Winnerbäck is something, but he sings in swedish 😒

Louis Marzullo

Even better! And yes, I like to zone in on the rhythm section, so bass & drums matter. Big reason why The Who is my fave all-time band. I have heard of Mr. Haake. Good stuff! ❤️🇸🇪 If all Sweden had ever given the world was Anita Ekberg, it's place in history would be secure! Reminds me: Dawn, please add "La Dolce Vita" to list!!

Bill W

Bjorn, there's a fellow named Tommy Johansson (aka Tommy Reinxeed) who put an album out some years ago called Swedish Hits goes Metal. All Heavy Metal covers of ABBA, Roxette and Ace of Base. He's an amazing 3-4 octave singer and musician...guitar, bass, keys..... He was also guitar/vocals for Swedish power metal band Sabaton.

Bill W

Weird coincidence that you're into drummers because in your little 1 centimeter avatar, without my glasses you have a resemblance to Fred Armisen. Maybe it's just the glasses. 😀

Björn Karlsson

Yeah I know him (not in person lol) 🙂 He is very talented 🙂 Broder Daniel had their moments back in the days as well. Their album "Cruel town" was the last CD I bought 😆😆😆

Bill W

Great list. I also liked Sons of Katie Elder and The Comancheros.

Louis Marzullo

Loved that! Lead singer even looks like Howlin' Pelle Almqvist! Reminded me a little of Jet, too. Will be diving deeper, for sure!

Björn Karlsson

Broder Daniel had 3 songs at the soundtrack of my favorite movie Fcuking Åmål aka Show me love. Whirlwind, I'll be gone and Underground 🥰🥰🥰

Louis Marzullo

Enjoyed F.A.K. Immediately forwarded to my bud Bob in FL, huge Emmylou fan. Would've sworn they were American!

Louis Marzullo

Hey Bill, please stick around for Saltburn. For our beloved "gorilla arms". To paraphrase J. Peterman, it should be a real hoot! 🦍

Björn Karlsson

Check up Sator (also from Borlänge) The album "Stock rocker nuts" from ehhh 1990 is awesome 😇😇😇

Louis Marzullo

There's a YouTube video of F.A.K. performing "Emmylou" on Letterman. You've probably seen it

Louis Marzullo

Bjorn, I have Swedish-American neighbors, the Malmqvists. Actually, the dad is Swedish-Italian & the mom is Anglo-Irish & some German. Good people!

Louis Marzullo

LOL. When I was MUCH younger, I used to get Nicolas Cage alot, which I could never decide whether I liked or not. But Fred Armisen?!? NOW THAT IS HIGH PRAISE!! Love him 🤓 Was sad to hear about him & Natasha Lyonne. Too bad Carrie Brownstein not available for him in that way, ever 😁 Saw Sleater-Kinney twice in NYC. Speaking of drummers, Janet Weiss: what a powerhouse! Talk about gorilla arms!

Bill W

Yeah, I didn't like the drums on that take, plus they took out half the bridge to shorten the song for time constraints.

Bill W

Carrie is a cutie! I just watched some of Fred's "Standup for Drummers". Very funny and entertaining. FAK has been writing songs beyond their years since they were 17/14. It goes deeper than just their "blood harmony". THey have 5 albums of original music, but enjoy doing covers Live... Emmylou Harris, Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Bufffy St. Marie, Black Sabbath, ABBA, Don Henley, REM, Kenny ROgers, Rolling Stones, Kate Bush, Jack White, Heart, McCarrigle Sisters, Woody Guthrie, The Kinks, Lucinda Williams, WIllie Nelson, Fleet Foxes, Mumford & SOns. They did an entire show of Leonard Cohen.

Louis Marzullo

Holy crap! Is there a compilation recording of those?? Btw, my friend Bob is hooked. The combination of musical talent & killer looks (especially the one without the guitar) made him an instant convert.

Louis Marzullo

Yep, they are always there to give me a ride to market or lend me a 20. I have several neighbors like that & each is from a different part of the world: Haiti, India, Ireland, S. Korea. Very lucky/blessed 🍀

Lee Pitman

John, she has already done some John Wayne movies, including The Searchers.

Louis Marzullo

But not Stagecoach, which I have been begging for forever & is more an ensemble than a John Wayne movie, per se

Louis Marzullo

Lol... Bill, did you catch Joni on the Grammys last night singing 'Both Sides Now'? I only got through about a minute before I started blubbering & had to change the channel. I'll watch the whole thing when I'm up to it.

Bill W

They're both beautiful. I've been haunted by the guitar player (Klara, younger sister) since I first heard/saw them. Those EYES. The older blonde sister Johanna plays keys, bass and autoharp. I made my own youtube playlist by clicking around and discovering videos. Some of the videos are on their home page, some are videos that other people took that would pop up in the "suggested" column. Btw, they appeared on Letterman twice, Conan, Colbert, Ellen, CBS This Morning and Graham Norton. I didn't watch the Grammys. I know the song, but never really got into Joni Mitchell.
