Skunks are the worst. A funky cringy strong sort of rotten egg smell. Once it gets on you it’s hard to get off. Supposedly washing in tomato soup will neutralize the smell.

But it takes alot to get them to spray you. They'd rather walk away from conflict, if they have an out. I feed several stray cats & they get along fine with the skunk, who eats their left-overs. They pass each other & tip their hats.

It’s usually dogs that over step their boundaries. We have a possum in our backyard, Peanut. She looks like a giant rat but will pass out with fear if you surprise her.

LOL. I've got one, too! And a raccoon. One of them always finishes off the bowl. No backyard, though. They all find their way to the front entrance of my building. TG my neighbors all animal lovers or indifferent.

There's actually a pretty funny back-story to that particular urban legend involving Sylvester Stallone & the filming of The Lords of Flatbush, if you care to look it up

Can relate. We live next to a creek and a forest preserve. It’s weird having so much wildlife this close to the city but it’s my sanctuary. Coyotes, deer, hawks, woodchucks, raccoons, birds galore. I put out treats for them.

I don’t think Stallone started that rumor or did the anonymous mass fax. All that seems more like the behavior of a vindictive woman.

Could very well be. I mostly love the run-up to the rumor. The spilled food, Sly elbowing him in the head, shoving him out of the car & Gere getting fired from the movie 😄

Yeah that stuff involved with that funny. I don’t think that has anything to do with the gerbil story being linked to Gere. The video I saw talked about a mass anonymous fax being sent out to every player in Hollywood just before Pretty Woman came out claiming to be an animal rights activist who wants to hold Gere accountable. This is a purposeful and malicious play with dead on timing. Stallone and Gere weren’t going for the same roles or even doing the same kinds of movies. Everything about that anonymous mass fax screams the vindictive nature of a woman Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn.

And sadly, yes, this was based on a true story... My sister who had cancer and a miniature pinscher whom she loved dearly when my sister passed the puppy died a year after from sadness.
