Not in this story, because Souta and Nao are literally made for each other, but in the real world: you will survive it and there will be that one person, who will share your feelings!

I also love the tone of this conversation!! The casual and upbeat vibe without being invalidating! Because Souta definitely puts Nao on a pedestal but there are plenty of fish in the sea and this is a natural part of life! It seems like a huge deal, but he’ll objectively be fine if Nao doesn’t like him back even if it hurts, and he’ll be better off in the meantime learning how to pour that energy and love into himself! I really can't even say how happy I am that someone is telling Souta to move on. Somewhere deep down he knows that's the next step in this situation. He said it to Nao himself, but he absolutely and clearly *gestures to that panel* didn't believe it or want to follow through. Understandable, lots of people get a love that they just want to wallow in despite "knowing" it's not going anywhere. But to hear it out loud from an experienced party is so good for Souta. Time for him to acknowledge that he wants Nao, but that doesn't have to be the end. That's so important for him. So when Nao finally comes back to him, Souta will hopefully have a better grasp of himself and know that he WANTS Nao but will still be himself without him.

the way ‘falling for a girl’ is framed as the best possible outcome in souta’s current situation is really, really bleak. but tbh that’s truly what it feels like living as a queer person in such an unaccepting environment. sato has had it really rough and much as i hate what he’s saying, he probably thinks that the advice he’s giving souta right now is the only way for souta to avoid getting hurt in the future: in a way that he could never have for himself since he doesn’t have the ‘socially acceptable’ option of falling for a girl. just a classic example of how much society can negatively impact queer people from a young age, and how jaded you can get from it (coming from a lesbian in a very unaccepting asian country) i’m really glad aina chose to highlight that struggle instead of making it all sunshine and rainbows.

Ngl I kinda hate when people who aren't bi tell bisexual people that they're lucky they're not fully gay cuz it always feels dismissive of our queer experience. I get that they usually mean that bisexuals can pass for straight if they wanted to but I feel like that just makes that person feel bad about "not picking a side" and excludes straight passing bi people from queer spaces. Maybe that's not what this guy meant, but that sentiment just always reminds me of that. Plus even if Souta did fall for a girl next it's not a guarantee that she would like him back either so I don't think it was a necessary comment. Thank you for coming to my ted talk 😔

Oh boy where to start. I get why people are upset with Sato’s advice, but guys, remember this is all he knows. Especially with the information he was given. Nao is “straight” (source pending), he rejected Souta, he’s gonna go on to a concert with girl. All signs point to Souta having very little chance of being with him. Coupled with Sato’s own experience of being rejected and basically never talking to his crush again, the best he can offer to Souta is putting those feelings aside for someone who will reciprocate. Since at the moment, it’s not Nao. That said my heart breaks for both of them. :( Sato didn’t deserve to lose his friend and Souta does not deserve to have his heart crushed like that. “I don’t want anyone but Nao.” SOUTAAAA MY POOR BABY IT’LL BE OKAY I PROMISE 😭 also big rip to the money, even without all the heart break it sucks he didn’t get to see the fruits of his labor.

A lot of people are mentioning that maybe Nao is listening in but what if it's someone else who hears? There are a lot more potential outcomes depending on who hears and what they do with the information. Souta could be outed if it was someone with bad intentions. What if Arashi heard? She might be conflicted about the tickets and feel obligated to tell Nao. I think Sato will be involved in some way for Nao's epiphany but I think it might be in a more complex way.

I have to say I enjoyed this chapter, Aina could have played it safe and had the perfect LGBT ally scene. Yet she didn't go that route, Sato is a bit dimissive of Souta and outlines he has it better than him which both shows his own internalized feeling around his sexuality but how he on some level he views bisexuality as preferable because atleast Souta's "half straight". It shows LGBT people aren't perfect we make mistakes and can dismiss other LGBT identities that we don't personally hold.

Life is hard, Sato probably had a hard time... I can't blame him for his comments, and by far Souta's situation sounds like he doesn't really have a chance, if I was someone who had been told that I would have tell Souta to not expect too much, because that way it will hurt more. I mean I do know that Souta has a chance sith Nao because I have read this whole comic lol and I know it's impossible that Nao feels nothing at this point, he is just conflicted.
