I was booked to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise of Northern Europe. My mum always wanted to do a cruise so I wanted to take her. But it was in April 2020 so got cancelled due to covid. The more we read about all the things that cost extra when the trip is already super expensive, the more we were put-off rebooking. Your experience has kind of backed that up. Also shoutout to James's Homer Simpson "no it doesn't" when Chelsea said the dry slide sack smelled weird.

We where on utopia in January, we are going on Star in October of next year and you guys really picked a great ship for the first one. My fiancé and I went for our engagement and it was her first time and now she wanted the bigger ship and the longer cruise and that’s my biggest recommendation is just at least 6 days. I am a travel agent so I book them all the time and Alaska is a lot of old people, it’s mainly older ships and everything is indoors. Carnival is a joke and Disney has no drink packages and they have a lot of up-charges. I think you guys would like Celebrity they are under Royal Caribbean and a bit classier, princess is also in that category. Personally I am a royal guy, if you Book through AAA you can get discounts and other such, I really do recommend at least trying with a travel agent first because if anything happens we can fix it. So you don’t have too Okay now my Utopia story, we went on January 3rd and we purchased the Drink Package with gift cards we got from all of our family members on Christmas. So we board the ship head over to the pesky parrot (was the parrot real… they said it was but like… idk man seems fake) we get a drink and they go “hmm it looks like it’s not showing the drink package, but it’s 10:30 so that’s probably why” we get the drink walk around and only make it to the schooner bar and the same thing happens. I go down to customer service and they claim we didn’t purchase it but that this happens a lot with last minute purchases. They told us they will let us know more when we get our rooms, so we wait and then nothing. I start a chat with the app and they give me detailed instructions to go down to the pesky parrot and purchase the drink package with the manager there. So I do this and it seems fixed we start to have some more fun, that is until we are dinner at Sorento’s the over rated Italian place and they say we can’t run my card for the drinks. They tried to charge me another 500$ for the drinks package and my broke ass dosent have that so it bounced now my account is locked. I get mad and the chat on the app asks to call my stateroom, I tell him we are at dinner and this guy CALLS THE HOSTESS so now I’m like on the phone with the customer service manager and this guys advice to me was either get the money from a family member or “go downstairs and apply for the credit card” this is when I had it and snapped and went “ I’m sorry are you seriously screwing me over and then pitching me a credit card to fix it. I am a travel agent do you think I would recommend royal to anyone at all after this” and I say some more stuff and even the hostess was like “my god I’m so sorry this is insane” So we leave, my fiancé is in tears she just wanted to have a fun cruise and now we have a locked account and no money to our name because it was just the holidays and these things are fuck you expensive. She’s crying she’s yelling we are tipsy off a drink package we couldn’t afford. A hand touches our shoulder dressed in the Royal Garb and another man that is with his wife and child dressed normal and he asks my fiancé what is the problem. We tell the gentleman the whole story from above and he is flabbergasted. Dude takes out a pen and notepad and asks our names and everything and then goes on to say “well I’m Frah, the beverage manager on board and I gotta say this is unexpecxeable” the other guy chimes in “this is the utopia of the seas, the biggest party on the ocean we cannot let people cry in the hallways on the first night” they send us on our way and say they will deal with it and to just enjoy the rest of our time. All charges where taken off the account, our drink package was reactivated and after the cruise our gift cards where refunded. We didn’t pay for a single drink on that ship and we got SCHWASTED on day two because we barely drank on the first night and went to bed after dinner because we were sad. We then used the gift cards too deposit on our honeymoon and are super jazzed to go again even though this time we gotta pay for drinks

We have gone a couple times. We just booked a RC cruise for May. It's a 5 day cruise to Bermuda. You get 2 sea days and 2 full days in Bermuda. We found that it's cheaper to book off peak so we take the kid(14) out of school for a week and go. I also like the 2 full days in Bermuda because one day at port doesn't feel like enough.

I've always wanted to go on a cruise. Never had the chance yet.. but I talk to my co-worker who goes on one about every year. She goes on the Norwegian Cruise lines. It sounds like it's more adult friendly. Less kids and what not. So if I ever do one that's what I would choose! Maybe check into it.

This was such a funny filet of fun episode lol. There's something so novel about luxury experiences that tow the line into being gaudy in these current economic times. Laughed so hard at Chelsea singing the lyrics to Nicki Minaj's "Starships" LOL.
