JOEDATOR

Really, any of these but especially the original Godzilla.

Gary Poussard

The Time Machine is a classic. :)

John Armbruster

So many good ones. But the Thing is my movie. I did vote for most of the others, tbh 🖖🏻

Jen Murray

Awesome! Always vote for ALL you would watch a reaction to - if there are lots of votes for a 'losing' movie I may still watch it

Danny Steele

Just watch them all, they are all excellent watches and worth your time

Michael O'Connor

War of the worlds was pretty ground baking for special effects at the time. It's way better than the one with Tom Cruise.

Major Peril

Wow! So many good ones... I choose All of the Above. 😆 Also, leave it to the Producer's Pick to always select a great film! Well done.

Jeremy V.

Wow, what a great poll! You have been killing these polls, Jen!🔥🥸

Happy Hanukkah

"Creature from the Black Lagoon"? Would that be Teri Shields? :-/

Christian Rennie

This is a pretty killer pole. Although I am partial to the original The Day the Earth Stood Still, I really want The Time Machine to Win. It is on of my earliest memories of being scared of watching something on tv. It holds more nostalgia for me than the others.

Geoff S.

So many good choices but Day should win. Although I'm also pulling for Time Machine too.

Jackson Bross

If you do Godzilla, be sure to do the original Japanese cut, not the American release with Raymond Burr. It's really much more than a "man in suit" movie.

To Wa

The All of the Above button is Hidden for some reason. Honorable Mentions: When Worlds Collide This Island, Earth On The Beach (1959 or 60?) The Birds (196?) The Andromeda Strain (1971) - (Best Michael Crichton adaptation -- okay, tied with Jurassic Park) Capricorn One (1978) Invasion of The Body Snatchers (1978) On The Waterfront (Not SciFi)

Rob Nichols

No all of the above option so I just ticked 'em all.

Georgius Agricola

Wow! This is the first time I've voted for all the movies in the poll. I've seen them all (even the out-of-genre 'The Searchers'), and would love to see Jen's reaction to any, or all, of them! BTW Jen, is this the version of 'The Searchers' where the Duke is looking for aliens in Monument Valley? Maybe a prequel to 'Cowboys and Aliens'? lol ;-)

Over50Gamer

FSOR, I didn't get a notification about this poll. Welp, I see it here now, so I'll vote. 😊

Daniel Goldberg

What a classic collection of old school sci fi and monster movies! I have my favorites but won’t be disappointed no matter which one wins.

Julian San

Thing From Another World doesn’t have that many votes, but it is a DAMN GOOD movie. And if you like that old Howard Hawks rapid dialogue delivery style, this movie has you covered. It’s atmospheric, suspenseful, likable characters, everything that makes 1950s sci-fi a classic.

Sarah Jane

I prefer the Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Donald Sutherland (1978). Also, a great "Jaws"-like film is Lake Placid, with Betty White & Bridget Fonda. (Of course, you may have already covered these.)

Jason Scade

Hi 😊 yes, Jen has done Lake Placid, it went down well despite the flying heads. Yet to do 1978 remake of Body Snatchers. Will be a very good one, creepy chilling suspenseful movie! She'll be happy to see 🖖

Jason Scade

Voted for most. As others have commented, I also didn't receive a notification for the poll post. Found it via link you added to This Week's Schedule post. 👍

Celeste McAllister🍓

Choices are,Atomic mutations and John Wayne...I'll take the Duke!! 'The Time Machine' & 'TWOTW' '53...you can't go wrong with either one Jenny💜🍼 THEM is actually a pretty well made movie and kinda unnerving at times!👍

Ron K

1960 Time Machine is on my top 10 of all time.

Lee R.

All of these are excellent and The Searchers is a classic epic western!

Henchman Twenty1

Yes. I agree 100% with doing the 1978 version of body snatchers first. You can always go back and do the 50's one later, but the '78 version has one of the most iconic endings!

John

I had to vote for all of these! So many good choices.

Miles E Coburn

All of these. I’ve been saying, for years, more reactors should react to older films. And most reactors that have, sporadically, watched and reacted to older films such as “12 Angry Men” (1957), “Casablanca” (1942), “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946), etc. rave about how good they are. But few actually go back and watch other, older movies. I think it’s great that Jen has put this poll together, even though it’s probably only because she watched “Forbidden Planet” (1956) recently and she’s seen just how good the storytelling was back then.

Miles E Coburn

Yep, all of these are terrific movies. Old school storytelling that more reactors (and their followers) should see.

SpiffMan

Yes, please! All of those!

Jason Scade

I'll look forward to seeing the original, I never have. I know it's pretty mediocre but I'm very fond of the remake with Guy Pearce and Jeremy Irons. 2001-ish, I think.

Michael O'Connor

I think Anikin's downfall path starts with slaughtering the sand people and is loosely based on the movie The Searchers if I remember right.

Zork

id suggest watching in order by year so you get an idea of how the movie scene evolved over time

K Dub

Jen's "crush"💝 status with me...maintained.💖💕 ALL...PLEASE AND THANK YOU.👍🏾👏🏾✌🏾

Michael T

The Searchers! 💯 x 💯 x 💯 x 💯

Peter Dillard

Some great choices - 'The Day the Earth Stood Still', 'The Time Machine' and the 1950s 'War of the Worlds' are some of my favorites. A lesser known sci-fi from the 1960s that I can recommend is 'Robinson Crusoe on Mars'.

Lee

Seconding the recommendation for "Robinson Crusoe on Mars." Not as influential or well-known as "Forbidden Planet," but definitely worth watching.

TigerMyth

For really old school sci-fi War & Day are on the must see list. I've never seen the oldest version of Body Snatchers so that would be a real good one to see. It has spawned COUNTLESS remakes and copies. I prefer the 78 version but my favorite quote is from the 93 version. When Worlds Collide is another good one from that era. If you are going to break into the big monster suit genre, then starting with Godzilla 54 is the way to go. Then skip all of the rest and watch Minus One.

Eric Janssen

Do we have to choose the ‘56 Invasion of the Body Snatchers OVER the creepy, unsettling 1978 remake?

Eric Janssen

Skip Shin Godzilla (PLEASE 🙏😖), but any appreciation of Godzilla has to appreciate the popcorn appeal of the Goofy Years of the Honda 60’s. I have a fondness for “Ghidrah, the Three Headed Monster”, m’self, but those who study the field tend to favor “Invasion of the Astro-Monsters”. Which has Ghidrah in it too.

TigerMyth

I doubt she would watch all of them. Not sure how much success she would have which is why I figured 54 then One would be the way to go. As for me, I grew up watching the big dumb monster movies. I think only one of them was in the movie theater when i was a kid and I loved Godzilla vs Megalon even though I think that is all the way at the bottom of the list in most godzilla movies ranked.

To Wa

Both please !

To Wa

I forgot to add "The Incredible Shrinking Man" (195?).

Alexis Vorian

Yes!! the Time Machine on top! I don't think anyone reacted to this movie before. This is why i'll keep this subscription for as long as I can although I'm struggling financially right now (I'm from a 3rd world country) and I already had to cancel all the others.

DM DC

Darn, I'm a bit bummed to see Them so far down. One of the first movies of it's kind I had seen. Soo good!

Major Peril

Same here. Such an under-rated creature feature of the time. So the practical effects weren't all that great but the story was somewhat plausible and definitely held my attention. Also, any time a class actor like James Whitmore decides to be in a B-rated sci-fi, you know I'm going to watch it. 😁

thansen

The first poll where I have seen every film. No losers in this poll. But my favorite is The Thing From Another World. Looks like The Time Machine will win but on this list I would put that in the middle of the pack.

zynjams

the Creature from the Black Lagoon is legendary

RebRox65

Most Definitely DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (Original Only) and TIME MACHINE are sci-fi Classics . I’d also in this list THIS ISLAND EARTH which was ground breaking effects for its time.

Major Peril

+1 for all those. I would also add When Worlds Collide (1951) - definitely on par with the others as an early '50s sci-fi.
