HACK THE PLANET!!! Come on everyone. We can make this win. Hackers is so fun and so peak 90s. Also one of the best soundtracks ever. Let’s goooo. HACK THE PLANET!!!

Dark Helmet

Man, so many good titles here. I wouldn’t be mad at any of them being picked.

Yann Laliberte

Wow so many good ones. I am happy to see Dirty Rotten Scoundreals, Real Genius and Last Dragon... 80s classic

TigerMyth

I'm not sure many people saw What's Up Doc in the 70s so I doubt it will ever win a poll. Having said that. As a young kid seeing it with my parents, we all laughed until it hurt. The only other movie I remember laughing that much to with my parents was It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

Alexis

The greatest hacker movie ever with the greatest soundtrack ever.

JOEDATOR

Jen, you would absolutely love WHAT’S UP DOC?

Jackson Bross

Ladyhawke doesn’t get enough love. Such a cool movie. And Dirty Rotten Scoundrels would be wonderful.

Miles E Coburn

Never gonna win, but "Ladyhawke" is a fun movie.

Greg In East TN

I haven't seen What's Up Doc, but I do agree with the Mad Mad Mad Mad World. She should watch that sometime, whether she reacts or not. It's a classic!

Greg In East TN

I do hope she makes a list of the high vote getters and does reactions sometime. There are some great movies listed. If you haven't seen it, Being There is Peter Sellers at his best, I believe.

Julian San

Holy crap, this is quite the eclectic list. I mean, The Last Dragon is on here 🤣

rubberkidney

critters the only gold pick here decent sequels too cute scifi horror comedy in the 80s you would love it. other than that a bunch of mid picks.

Travis

Hoping Maverick wins

Henchman Twenty1

Instead of Mystery Team could we have an option to pick Mystery Men (1999)?

Lee R.

Agreed, great movie!

Clay F

Maverick (1994) is fun but not my kind of western. Instead, give me westerns like "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (1976) or "3:10 to Yuma" (2007). I voted La Bamba (1987) because I have nostalgia. I voted Bullitt (1968) (which I haven't seen) because I would like to see a highly-rated Steve McQueen movie. My two favorite Val Kilmer movies are Thunderheart (1992) and The Doors (1991).

spacious_recroom

Being There, Brazil, and Bullitt are the only "must-see-before you-die" movies on the list. 😉 (And strictly a coincidence I guess that they all begin with the letter "B" 😂)

Sarah Jane

I adore Mystery Men, and it's so neglected.

Sarah Jane

3:10 to Yuma is great, and it's an Elmore Leonard western. The other 2 good Elmore Leonard westerns--movies made from Leonard's western novels--are Hombre and The Tall T.

Jeremy V.

Give the last dragon, some love.

thansen

Lots of quality movies, my favorite being Maverick. I also enjoyed the romantic comedy What's Up, Doc? But several other really good movies.

Vina

Real Genius is some great 80s comedy which has aged pretty well when you need a pick me up

james repka

The movie here that doesn't get the love it rightfully deserves is Lone Star (1996). John Sayles wrote and directed this independent film starring a young Chris Cooper, ostensibly about the mystery behind the decades-ago disappearance of a former sheriff of a small west Texas border town.

Kristin

Its a wonderful story, maybe it's just not well known?

zynjams

Being there is a great movie,

Michael T

Brazil times a million -- but make sure to watch the Director's Cut, and not the butchered original studio release.

Banes

Nice variety here! A few I've never seen but want to.

Matt

20,000 Leagues is so amazing and holds up extremely well considering how old it it, also love 2014 Godzilla definitely be a fun reaction to see and Brazil is a masterpiece really worth checking out 😊

Matt

Great film

Ronny Boss

It's not going to win, but I had to go with Ladyhawke. I'm always down for some classic fantasy films

Collinson

The original The Italian Job(1969) is far superior to the modern version unless you've already seen it obviously.

SpiffMan

Excellent list and delighted to see The Last Dragon included. It'll never win since not enough people have seen it, but it's awfully fun. Go Real Genius, my favorite Val Kilmer movie!

Stephen Wadsworth

If Being There wins, wipe all the previous Peter Sellers performances you've seen from your mind! I hope it does.

Clay F

Not looking good for "Being There" (1979). Maverick currently has 71 votes more. Maverick has more the double the votes of Being There.

Eric Janssen

Being There is a mind trip, whether you’ve seen Dr. Strangelove or not. But if we have a generation that’s (clearly) been deprived of the coolness that is Walt-era Disney’s 20,000 Leagues, the damage MUST be repaired first. (And even I must ask: Who’s the nut who pushed Cromwell onto the lists?? 🤨👈)

Amarant Coral

Only Hackers for me on this one. Looks like it's going to lose though. Hey, at least we got a few more polls to go.

Erik Lundmark

Brazil would be epic to watch...

HappySad

Hoping for Das Boot!

Dominic Smith

The original studio is like an anti-art black hole that sucks in creatively, I feel the same way about it the way George Lucas feels about The Star Wars Holiday Special, I honestly want every copy burned!

RSK1995

I remember watching Being There for the first time randomly playing on cable tv, I underestimated it because it was from 1979 but I was sooo wrong it's a movie you cannot unsee or forget. Till today if I had to explain the movie to someone I wouldn't know how or where to begin.

Dominic Smith

My pick is on the list and I knew it had about as much change at winning against these heavyweights as a gunnie pig winning a fight against a pack of lions. To say I had no illusions is an absolute understatement, when I clicked on the link my only hope, for the sake of my pride, was that it not be in last place and...well...I can say it's not in last place, lol, but yeah, it's certainly hanging out near the bottom of the list. On the plus side, Brazil is legitimately my all time favourite film so my pick losing to it makes me honestly feel like I still won.

Bryan Tuck

I don't think the director's cut OR the studio cut are available anywhere but on the Criterion DVD/Blu-ray sets. Most streaming / digital rental options are either the European theatrical cut (which is very close to the DC) or the US theatrical (which is shorter, but still director-approved).

Bryan Tuck

BRAZIL is great and I think you'd enjoy it, but make sure to let everyone know where you're watching it, as there are multiple versions out there. It's a long story. :) No spoilers here, but basically, streaming & digital rental versions in the US and Canada are probably going to be the US theatrical cut (2 hrs 12 mins), while nearly everywhere else is going to have the European theatrical cut (2 hrs 22 mins). Both are technically director-approved, though the US cut was a slight compromise made to accommodate a running-time limit. Now, there ALSO exists a "director's cut," which is only available on DVD and Blu-ray from Criterion. It's basically the Euro cut, but with the US cut's beginning (still runs about 2 hrs 22 mins). And another version (included as an extra on the Criterion sets) is what the studio WANTED to release, and that runs about 1 hr 34 mins. It's commonly known as the "Love Conquers All" version, and was only ever shown on US TV in the late 1980s and maybe the early 90s. Hope all that makes sense. :)

Amarant Coral

It was the only one I voted for 🤣

djKENTO

HACk THE PLANET AMARANT! HACK THE PLANET!

DrJonasVenture

It’s not getting a lot of love in the poll but Lone Star is outstanding. John Sayles is one of those truly unique voices in American cinema.

Doug

Just re-watched 'Real Genius' a couple weeks ago.

photos_by_geoff

If I could vote multiple times for Maverick and Carlito's Way, then I would!! Those are two movies that I think you would REALLY enjoy a ton!!

jon bolton

I realise it doesn't have many votes and is unlikely to win, but i hope you watch What's Up Doc one day, Jen. It's one of my favourite comedies, and i'm certain that you would love it.

Eric Janssen

It’s being discovered by a generation that grew up so Important they never learned how to be Silly. And now Peter Bogdanovich’s fanfiction remake of “Bringing Up Baby” is being discovered by a new group of Reactor fans who…just discovered Bringing Up Baby for the first time. 😅

Eric Janssen

Cromwell’s…OKAY, but nothing of note, as English period history epics go—It’s chiefly remembered for providing us with Dave Thomas’s Richard Harris parody from SCTV: https://youtu.be/L2xWQr4VaUA?si=DLjaTt-lYFty1LzU (With a little bit of “ Camelot” thrown in.)

John DiGiantomasso

Lots of YouTubers have reviewed Das Boot. It is an epic and exhausting film. I consider it the German Saving Private Ryan. Maverick is a delightful romp that not many have reviewed. You'll love it and the great cast: Mel Gibson, Jodie Foster, and James Coburn/James Garner who you know from The Great Escape!

Robert Finlay

Please can you react to the original Italian Job from the 1960s.

Jonas

I've had Hackers queued up since I started subscribing Reaction channels at all. I can't wait until someone does it.

Dominic Smith

Cromwell has may flaws as a film, first and foremost one could justifiably argue that it fails as a biopic of Cromwell himself if the criteria in which you judge it is if the film allows to to come to at least some understanding of the man behind the historical actor in history. The film gives us next to nothing of Cromwell's personal life or the events and experiences that shaped him given the films tight focus to tell the story of the story of the English civil war of the 1640's. Compare Cromwell with Spike Lee's Malcom X for example and contrast is almost shocking. It is somewhat ironic that the film titled Cromwell actually does a better job of fleshing out as a human being King Charles with his undeniable connections of love to his wife and children which are explored in several scenes. Cromwell by contrast seems more of an avatar for the nation shattering events, a human representation of the unstoppable social forces of history. The best way to sum up Cromwell, in my opinion, it to see it not so much as a biopic but an extended historical reconstruction scene you might get in a well made documentary, with all the obvious abridgments and simplifying of the object historical events for the sake of a narrative and bringing out thematic elements. Is this an inherently bad thing? In my opinion no, first and foremost it is far better than the extreme opposite end of the spectrum in the example of the, in my view, utter travesty of Ridley Scott's Napoleon which showed no interest whatsoever in telling even a dramatically condensed yet relatively accurate historical account and instead occupied itself primarily with the over the top, fictional melodrama of Napoleon and his wife's domestic struggles. But more importantly is that, while it's true those looking for a more compelling emotional connection from the historical characters may indeed find the film somewhat lacking, for those who have a real interest for the specific historical events of the English civil war itself, there is a lot to enjoy in seeing these pivotal historical moments realised on film in such a grand fashion with such attention to detail and mostly fine performances by some of the great actors of that generation and at least in my case inspired a passion in exploring those events further, that lead me to reading some of the works of the late great British historian Christopher Hill. So that is a very TL;DR way of me saying yes Eric, I agree as a film it is just "OKAY" but I think there is more to enjoy when approached with the right mindset and expectations.

Randy Aiken

I think Jen would love the music in La Bamba

Kristin

It's a good movie, highly underrated.

phillip giroux

Well, I voted for my own pick so at least it got one vote. 😆

Just Paul!

Anyone here besides myself ever even seen Mystery Team?

Just Paul!

Mystery Men is just OK... Mystery Team is "omg, what did I just watch? And why am I watching it again? And why am I borrow this DVD to my friends? This movie is so dumb... I love it!"

Jason Scade

I haven't, sorry. I've seen Mystery Men. Are they similar?

Jason Scade

Well, that's get my vote, mate. 👍

Just Paul!

They are both comedy I guess... beyond that, Mystery Team was a movie done by a comedy troupe known as Derrick Comedy. The movie was the biggest thing they did together collectively... but you may know Donald Glover! This was his original group of friends from college that gave him his launch into writing/acting.

To Wa

Thankful "What's Up Doc?" made it to a poll.

Jeremy V.

I am blown away that Maverick won. And even though my choice, which was the last dragon didn’t get the love, I was hoping for… I’m a massive maverick fan. I love the original series and this movie is a great homage to that.
