S07E02 Liaisons

I found all the Enterprise stuff in this one highly amusing! Worf and Troi had their hands full! Meanwhile Picard was in a Misery situation and I didn't see the ending coming. Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I suspect most fans would put this one a little more on the "meh" side of things, but one thing I've really come to enjoy about these reaction channels is that they've forced me appreciate the "meh" ones a little a more. Watching through a first timers eyes really helps me to set my preconceived notions aside and just enjoy whatever good parts of the ep do exist. The Picard storyline still didn't thrill me but seeing J chuckle at the comedic stuff is always a good time😆

Geoff S.

I hope we get to see you in the Picard jacket again soon!

john reed

always love the worf stuff in this one ha ha

Banes

Yeah, some of the comedic stuff was good. VERY Misery-esque on the planet. Filler sounds about right. Worf being Worf is ALWAYS good, though. x)

jon bolton

Just personally this isn't one i love Captain Jen. I love the stuff on the ship with Deanna and Worf, but i'm not a fan of the stuff with Picard.

Vina

I know you're feeling a little wistful about this being the last season of TNG but it's so nice to come back to it in reruns. For me its like a comfort food. I even like DS9 a bit more but TNG feels more like "home". Also, you can always show them to you kid(s) when they're old enough, and enjoy them discovering these characters and stories for the first time the way you did 😊

Sykonee

Possibly one of the most fillery filler episodes you'll see in TNG, but that's okay. Sometimes it's nice to have a simple, light-weight plot about cultural exchange. It's something I think we took for granted back in the day, and kind of miss now that streaming shows always require major season-long story arcs. Also, is this technically the first man-on-man kiss in Trek? I mean, obviously not, but it's kinda' funny imagining those scenes with an un-disguised Voval.

The Star Treker (aka Michael)

This isn't one of my favorite episodes, but I still enjoyed it—especially the Enterprise scenes with Deanna and Worf. Their interactions with the Ambassadors were way more entertaining than Picard's with his. Honestly, those moments stood out a lot more. Season 7 might has some key episodes that connect to some other Trek shows and I'm genuinely excited to see how you react when you get to them. I'll keep quiet for now, though. You definitely made this episode more fun to revisit—appreciate that.

Paul Peavler

Troi isn’t really short, she’s 5’5” so about average or just over. It’s just that Riker and Worf are both 6’3” so most people look small standing next to them.

Chocolate ftw 🍫🍫🍫 don't forget to upvote all the stuff you're interested in Jen watching and add your monthly recommendations ofc www.jenmurrayxo.com

This is not the best story, especially the way they shrug off the way Picard was kidnapped and assaulted. The way the alien tried to force itself onto Picard felt almost rapey, I wonder if it could have been shrugged of quite so easily if the alien had stayed in male form. I don't think this gives a great message especially to people that may have been through something similar.

TigerMyth

This one was much more tame than Darmok. That alien race was willing to risk their life along with Piccard's life to better understand each other. Sure the ambassador of love was off base but that just shows how some aliens completely don't understand human love. And I don't think they took it too far. Not like they went full rape life Stargate Universe with the rape stones.

scott osborne

i guess you didn't get the fly cause its here now in wales on my tv screen bugging me 16hours later

Zapp Rowsdower

If the alien was in male form and had kidnapped Beverly or Deanna, it would definitely be seen differently by the viewers.

RSK1995

The crew including the captain were test subjects for a scientific research. Picard was held hostage for 7 days. Obviously he didn't meet with the Iyaran Premier or visited the famous crystal formations, because he was a subject and once the experiment was over Voval escorted Picard back to the Enterprise and swiftly headed back to his home planet. Picard must have realized this didn't wait for their departure and left the shuttlebay.

Ortizmo

You basically have a "Criminal Minds" episode.

Anthony Hernandez

I agree about the reactions elevating my enjoyment of filler episodes like this one. It’s okay, but not following up on someone kidnapping and attempting rape on you is a little unlike captain Picard. He wouldn’t let that happen to any of his officers, and I don’t think on himself either.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I mean, fair enough. I think we can just chalk that one up to tv logic/the need to just wrap things up from a narrative storytelling angle.

Kane Is Able

Darmok is garbage. Season 7 still has some bangers left.

Kane Is Able

I can never predict. I assumed for years that everyone hated Darmok too, since I didn't like it. Eventually, I found out that's not true.

TheADHDOverlord

Once I saw the visitors, I remembered exactly which episode this is...This is going to be a Great Watch Along 😁😁

irl fact: Love shown here is dangerous on levels the i'm not sure the current gen gets, genX and millienials, well, for me i learned that love along time ago is not even of this earth, it may sound riddiculously creepy so no i won't be forcing beliefes, But my love came from God oa long time ago, and i've been sharing it basically through my character, and this is the internet so i can't expect anyone to get what i mean, but the result of this eppisode reminds me of how love done right can result the intimacy we say but with the proper boundaries applied.
