2x3 The Siege

*Watch-Along (no copy needed to sync) available! LINK BELOW

It was so cool to see a 3-part story arc in Trek! Lots of good character moments in this ep and some surprising outcomes too. I am very curious to see if there are more multiple-episode arcs in future or if this story will have consequences down the road. Engage! 🖖

Summer

Sorry forgot the spider iin this one mean to warn you

John DiGiantomasso

There MIGHT be a story arc LONGER than three episodes in the future of DS9. If I recall correctly.

Ian

Enjoyed all three parts equally they all had good moments and like yourself Jen I really enjoyed the interactions . The characters play off each other so well Kira and Dax were great 🙂 . You can really tell you're enjoying these characters more and more with episode after episode and it's lovely to see . Some shape shifting from odo , quark and his latinum what's he like lol yeah this was a fun conclusion to the 3 parter , great stuff Jen 🔥🖖

"The Circle is broken, Colonel." ~Sisko, thinking, "Oh man, I'm glad everyone was around to hear that." Yeah, it's funny how the actual siege portions of The Siege are probably the weakest part of this episode. It really highlights how this show's main strengths are its character interactions. Also interesting how first Jaro, and now Krim couldn't help but notice and handle Sisko's somewhat peculiar lone desk ornament.

Great reaction! I love all 3 parts, but this is my favourite of those, and one of my Season favourites. Like you i love the character interaction, especially Dax and Kira lol.

This is a really good 3-parter and a strong opening for season 2. It really begins to hint at a different direction of storytelling for DS9. Let's just say there will be lot more non-episodic stories in the future. 😄 As for Jaro, I think even if he didn’t know with absolute certainty that the Cardassians were backing his coup, he likely suspected it. Gaining access to such a large cache of military weapons and supplies strongly suggested the involvement of another major outside player. But his political ambitions likely outweighed any of his concerns. He probably calculated that even if the Cardassians were involved, they likely were not looking to launch another full-scale invasion, but rather to support a puppet regime from the shadows in exchange for influence and access to the wormhole. Vedek Winn, on the other hand, probably had no idea. And once she realized the Cardassians may have been involved, and if so Jaro's coup is lost, she quickly shifted into self-preservation mode and changed sides covering herself.

Desmond

O'Brien calling them the "Cardies", as a pejorative, is sort of a nod to his history with the Cardassians. No love lost.

Laura Thornley

Its always a scary thought that the girl who played Molly is now in her mid 30's (and makes appearances at conventions!).

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Why are all the fighter jet scenes with Kira and Dax kinda adorable? And really clever and funny, well written, they make a good team!

Dante Hopkins

I always really enjoyed the season 2 opening trilogy! Onward!

Julian San

Damn, these are the earliest I remember seeing these get uploaded. It’s still early afternoon, for goodness’s sake! lol but I am NOT complaining.

Julian San

Blew my mind when I realized she was the daughter in the “Sushi Ko” episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

TheADHDOverlord

Be prepared...bc from this point forward is really Treks 1st foray into Serialized Storytelling....and it is Awesome.

streaky

The ending is a bit abrupt and, idk, weak? Hollow might be the word I'm looking for - it feels a bit devoid of substance at this point. It's a good arc, just it feels like it's missing something. Honestly, the show is in need of some good tailoring (if you know, you know).

Goddess of Empathy

"Not with your pants, with your eyes, Lieutenant!" The Kira and Dax scenes are definitely a highlight of the episode

Ian M

If you like this three episode arc, in the words of Benjamin Sisko, the best is yet to come.

alyssagynepuppy

Well Winn only cares about herself and gaining power, so when it was clear that the coup is doomed she quickly switched sides.

Kristin

Winn loathes the Cardassians, and would never willingly side with them, despite her dubious nature.

Mark Chrisco

A few fun facts. Molly's full name is Molly Worf O'Brien. Li Nalas was killed off because the actor, Richard Beymer (Tony, in West Side Story) was too expensive to make regular appearances. Stephen Macht was Gene Roddenberry's number one choice for the role of Jean Luc Picard.

Bobby Coolbreeze

Great start to a great season. This show gets complicated as we move forward. Tons of drama and probably the most character driven trek show with the most compelling story lines. Hints of things to come that have huge ramifications, repercussions and consequences though out the show.

Tom Evans

I skimmed through Season 2 to refresh my memory, and it's such a good season. Much better than Season 1. We're still not into the over-arching storyline of DS9 yet but it's coming.

Thegonagle

It was over for the baddies in the cargo bay. Bashir had the high ground.

Hi Jen, love your videos. I have a small suggestion. Is there any way you can upload your videos to Patreon as well as YouTube? Other reaction channels I sub to on here do that so you can use picture-in-picture for the reactor's window. YouTube does not have that option, so I cant watch Trek in full screen for your reactions. I don't have a second monitor, which would solve this issue. It would greatly enhance mine, and likely others' viewing experience if you could do this. Thank you!

Slate

Plain and simple tailoring, hehe...

Michael B.

On my browser Youtube has a floating window option. It's an icon that pops up when I hover over the running video. If I click it the youtube video is put in a small window that I can put over any other window and also resize as I like. I'm not sure if that function is native to Youtube or part of a Firefox addon I have installed called Enhancer for Youtube.

Michael B.

I can see Macht as Picard. But it would have been a very different TNG.

Tyrone Tyrone

Molly's full name is Molly Worf O'Brien? WOW.

Mark Chrisco

To honor Worf, who delivered her under difficult circumstances.

Clay F

Great episode and reaction. Frank Langella is a good actor. Interesting seeing Steven Weber.
