Stefan Feyle

The car is a Pontiac Firebird TransAm and the 80.000 $ then are about 415.000 $ today.

Matt O'Keefe

Sally Field had two shows in the 60's. Gidget and then The Flying Nun.

Matt O'Keefe

Sally and Burt had a relationship that started in 1976 and ended in 1982. They starred in 4 movies together between 1976 and 1980. This, Smokey snd the Bandit II, The End, and Hooper

Clayton Johnson

Jerry Reed who plays the Snowman sang most/all the music for the movie.

Robert Cooper

Lots of old nicknames for the highway traffic cops are bear related. Smokey comes from Smokey the Bear, who was ALL OVER American TV in the 70s in PSAs against starting forest fires.

Paul Grodt

This movie was HUUUUUUUGE. The Trans-Am Firebird car became impossible to get after this came out it was in such huge demand. Everyone went out and bought a CB (Citizen's Band) radio because of this thing. It used to just be used by truckers, and for a little while, the airwaves became super clogged with wannabes. Nerdier people used Amateur radio, which are frequencies that you are only allowed to use if you first get an operator's license. Both still exist, but not many people use them anymore thanks to the Internet. The short guy is Paul Williams. He wrote incredible music. He wrote Rainbow Connection in The Muppet Movie. Eastbound and Down was written by Snowball the truck driver character. And yeah, "Smokey" is code for a state-trooper because their hats make them look like Smokey The Bear. Only YOU can prevent forest fires. The Sheriff is Jackie Gleason, a super famous actor, first famous for the 1950s sitcom The Honeymooners ("One of these days, Alice, Slam, Bang! To the moon!") and the Pool/Billiards movie The Hustler.

Rob Nichols

No ma'am. No, I'm not Hank Snow's brother.

Harvey Lee

Only you can prevent forest fires !!! i swear i remember SMOKEY the BEAR as being Canadian !! But i do remember that being a common nickname and i remember those ads of course .

Harvey Lee

and you know WE LIKED HER WE REALLY LIKED HER !!!!😅 i'll assume you know the reference !!

Harvey Lee

Smokey and the Bandit was a huge hit at the time , and who can forget JACKIE GLEASON [The Honeymooner's Ralph Kramden himself ] as Buford T Justice . Burt Reynolds and Sally Field met on set , ended up dating and would work on three more films together . Burt Reynolds and director Hal Needham worked on 7 films together including The Cannonball Run movies HOOPER by the pair i just mentioned stands as being one of the better ones to watch as it's an homage to the stunt community by Needham a former stuntman himself .

Matt O'Keefe

My mom's father, who died 3 years before I was born, was a lover of Jackie Gleason especially in his show The Honeymooners. That is one of few personals tastes of his that i know of. So that a good choice of his.

Dave Walker

Pontiac Trans Am got pretty popular in 1977 with this movie and then in 1982-- 1986 with the tv series Knight Rider.
