Great movie! One of the very few in which thousands of bullets are fired inside a pressurized plane, and not even one manages to create a hole in the fuselage. And steering the 300 tons plane on the ground like a go cart at high speed. At least the reaction was great. Any news on the runaway cat?

The changing call sign thing always bothered me, because that was an Army plane. It should have been Army One. Typically the president flys on AF1 and Marine One, the usual helicopter, but if he is on an Army craft, it doesn't become an air force craft.

It's great that you were excited about Jerry Goldsmith's score - he was a last-minute replacement when the filmmakers decided to go a different direction from the original score by Randy Newman. Goldsmith only had a few weeks to create a new score from scratch, and because of this I think his opening title theme bears a STRONG resemblance to his opening theme from "Star Trek: First Contact," which a whole lot of your fans here have been dying for you to get to :) So when you get to that movie, if the theme sounds familiar, remember that's the original and this is the one that came later!

It wasn't an army plane. It was an Air Force C130 with USAF on it and the crew had USAF patches on their flight suits. They were talking about a strike team on board, but i doubt Army SpecOps would've done a mid air stunt like that...likely pararescuemen. It WOULD change to AF1 because it is an Air Force A/C

Andrew Hafey

the hijacking would've lasted just a few minutes in reality as the pilots would've just flipped fuel cutoff switches. they never would've been able to relight them in time. could've pulled the fire handles as well and killed the engines even more completely....but that would make the movie boring. :)

hoping she watches GI Jane soon! She'd love that one I think

And to answer your question, the Prime Minister has a few Airbus aircraft and some Bombardier business jets the government uses. None of them are at the level of Air Force 1, but they are pretty nice. CBC has a video from 2 years ago that shows what it's like inside... https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/1.7029473

One of my favorite movies. It's always an adrenaline high when I do a re-watch every few years.

Apart from "Speed" (which I know you've indicated on your request site you've seen before, but I still wouldn't mind a re-watch regardless), the only remotely significant '90s action movie I can think of that you haven't reacted to yet is "The Negotiator."

Others to consider: -Three Kings (1999) -Last of the Mohicans (1992) -Out of Sight (1998) -The Thin Red Line (1998) -The 13th Warrior (1999)

Byrd N. Hand

Not sure most (if not all) of those qualify as primarily action movies. 🤔

This is what the Google page for each movie lists as genre: -Three Kings (1999) (War/Action) -Last of the Mohicans (1992) (War/Action) -Out of Sight (1998) (Thriller/Comedy) -The Thin Red Line (1998) (War/Action) -The 13th Warrior (1999) (Adventure/Action) This is what Jen's Movie Request Site gives as genre: -Three Kings (1999) = Action, Comedy, War -Last of the Mohicans (1992) = Action, Adventure, Drama, History, Romance, War -Out of Sight (1998) = Romance, Comedy, Crime -The Thin Red Line (1998) = Drama, History, War -The 13th Warrior (1999) = Adventure, History, Action

"The Thin Red Line" is probably the artsiest war movie ever made (it's more just a 'Terrence Malick film' than anything else). I'd classify it as 'drama' above all else; ditto "The Last of the Mohicans." "Three Kings" had more comedy and/or drama than action, from what I recall, and the descriptors for "Out of Sight" on Jen's site are more accurate than all others (notice 'action' wasn't included). Admittedly, "The 13th Warrior" is the only one of these titles I've never seen, so I can't comment on that.
