Holy moly this one hit close to home for me cause my dad is a former sailor. I kept hoping for the best because we have a movie so I just figured they had to make it so they could tell their story... I really loved the score, any other James Horner scored movies we should check out?

A shame Horner died so young in a plane crash. I think he did the music for Apocalypto which you haven’t seen as far as I know. It’s an intense movie though.

I’ve been waiting all day for this reaction. This is such a sad movie and the ending is so devastating, it gets me every time. RIP to the crew of the Andrea Gail.

Hey Jen, Here are a few James Horner-scored movies I think you might like that you haven't already seen (or at least don't have any reactions to): * Brainstorm (1983) * Sneakers (1992) * Clear and Present Danger (1994) * Avatar (2009)

All 4 of these are great movies! Sneakers is my absolute favorite and has a great cast!

A good movie with an awesome Horner score: Krull (1983). Looking forward to The Perfect Storm.

Matt

Was gonna say Apocalypto 😊👍

Geoff S.

I liked Krull a lot!

You should really watch First Man 2018 about Neil Armstrong, has one of my favorite scores of all time, really underrated film

Rob Nichols

Oh yeah lot's of fun with a great cast, and a perfect Jen movie.

djKENTO

@ 38:37 "He looks familiar," The actor is Bob Gunton from TNG "The Wounded", the starship captain O'Brien served with who was attacking Cardassian ships. He was also the warden in The Shawshank Redemption. The woman in that scene is Karen Allen, from Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Scrooged. Also in the cast is Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (the BIGGEST name in Hollywood lol) from The Abyss.

Marc Peterson

Another absolutely fabulous movie of man vs the sea is The Finest Hours (2016) Starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Eric Bana and Ben Foster. Gripping true story of the greatest attempted small boat rescue in US Coast Guard history. 1952 New England furious storm and two T2 tankers break in two off the coast. You will be on the edge of your seat the whole picture. Very true to the real events of heroism on the high seas. A few of the surviving Coasties advised on the picture.

Harvey Lee

i don't know if you intended that comment to be funny , but it did come across as funny to me , at the time of your date it probably wasn't it is a good movie tho !!⚓

Props to your dad. "You have to go out, but you don’t have to come back.”

Another classic Wolfgang Petersen film is "Das Boot", well worth the watch.

I saw a documentary about this storm a few years before the movie came out. Aside from the radio messages, no one knows what happened to the Andrea Gale after they left port. Unfortunately, the big wave, real, or fictional, was spoiled on the movie posters. They also figure that the missing Coast Guard helicopter crewman misjudged his jump, and landed in the trough rather than the peak of the wave, as they were aiming, also landing on top of the other crewman causing his injuries.

This hits close to home because my family knew the Moran family, including Michael.
