Perfect timing. Just got home and my dish is frozen so no t.v. tonight

Dylan

Now this is the proper way to spend a Friday night with more Star Trek with Jen 🔥🖖

Ian

I always look forward to your trek uploads be it DS9 or TNG it's always a great time , your trek reactions are always out of this world Jen , you're the best 🔥💙

Banes

yeah, Jadzia Dax is a complicated one! There's getting to know her as a person and what she's all about, and then there's the whole idea of her being joined and having all the other memories and personalities inside her, and how that whole process works. I imagine the writers were slowly figuring it all out themselves, bit by bit.

Lee

I read Kira's attitude as an extension of her years of fighting during the occupation. Consider all the lives lost in that struggle, only to finally force the Cardassians to leave. I can certainly see how she wouldn't tolerate another threat to Bajor so soon.

Sykonee

A proto-universe? Filled with... proto-molecules? Uh oh... Yeah, that's a sci-fi plot that feels kinda' tacked on when the episode spends much of its first half focused on Trill (and Dax) backstory. Still, always nice to see the Klingon Restaurant again.

jon bolton

So Jen now you know a little more about Dax, are you any closer to making my prediction come true? When you started DS9 i predicted that for the week near Halloween you'd dress in your blue Starfleet uniform, and paint Trill spots on your face like Dax lol. At the time i suggested it you probably thought I was crazy, now though...😂😂😂

Summer

You are an ideal reactor Jen, don’t worry, the writers were learning too. It happens in writing. Voyager and TNG are my favorite themes but DS9’s has grown on me over the years. This episode has a good message. All questions will be answered…..in future times…..you might be interested in Klingon music. Host candidates need to be unmarried so the change doesn’t impact a marriage but marriage can be later. A good Trek rule with technobabble is we don’t have to understand it per se, we have to believe it fits in Trek, then you realize you ‘understand’ enough that it doesn’t interrupt an episode. One wonders if Dax the worm likes Jadzia better than Curzon too.

jon bolton

What i love about Jadzia is she reminds me a lot of myself. She drinks, she gambles, she stays up late...and is intelligent, i'm not necessarily saying that last one about myself. Although to quote my girlfriend, one of the things she loves most about me is i'm a nerd😂

Julian San

I so wish I could have one of those Cardassian Voles as a souvenir 😂 🐀 I’d display it proudly in my home.

Carlos Stevens

@Jen, I do not hum the theme to myself, but... I understand (I'll tell you why I understand if you ask). Heh, what fascinates me is... I remember when you were watching Episode 1, the theme was a little confusing to you.

jon bolton

I love the theme of DS9 it's my favourite Star Trek music. Incredibly certain other reactors aren't as keen on it as you are.

William Rosmer

the one i most remember humming is ds9. but you humming the themes is a very genuine and endearing thing.

Carlos Stevens

@Jen, I'm thinking, that maybe one of the reasons I love DS9 over all the other Star Treks is because, the father/son relationship between Sisko and Jake is very reminiscent of the relationship I had with my Father... except it was more like a strange combo of Captain Sisko, Jules from Pulp Fiction, and Gunny Sargent Hartman from Full Metal Jacket.

jon bolton

Just so you know Jen when Jake said his girlfriend was a Dabo girl, the reason Sisko was less than pleased, Dabo girls are emloyed by Quark at his casino tables, usually showing a lot of flesh, to attract more attention to the games, and get Quark more gold pressed latinum.

Desmond

I think he thought a Dabo girl was a little much for Jake at his age lol.

Desmond

I don't feel like they really grappled with the implications of this proto-universe subplot, or found an adequate solution to the problem. And way too much technobabble. But the Trill initiate storyline with Arjun and Dax was much better.

TigerMyth

The appropriate response for the Vole should have been, he's a good boy. I'll let this one slide.

Fr. Brench

I used to hum along with theme tunes to a number of shows, yes! Now I'm more prone to air-conduct instead so I can listen more carefully. I loved that story you shared a couple episodes about humming this to your baby <3 It's so *not* a lullaby in this show, but it works doesn't it!

jon bolton

Obviously that too lol.

John DiGiantomasso

Jen - important note: before you watch DS9 S2x19, you should really take a moment and watch TOS S3x7. Not a spoiler, but an important character backstory that will help you appreciate this DS9 episode more. I don't think you saw that one "Day of the Dove" in your limited dip into ST TOS.

Rudy Arness

Honestly, 9 times out of 10 I skip the intro themes. I do enjoy them and a few times a season will listen to them but generally just skip through. In saying that your humming helps me sync the videos more precisely and so I've really appreciated it during this watchalong.

scott osborne

jen i have always hummed along to the theme of TNG DS9 and VOYAGER the theme to all 3 never gets old huh this episode what is starfleets number 1 mission to seek out new life and new civilizations and all kira wanted to do is end the new life ironic init

ParallaxNick

This ep is one of my favourites from season 2, but it gets a lot of flak for some reason. The technobabble about life in a universe is spot on, the exploration of Trill psychology is solid, and the script is tight. "I don't step on ants, Major", is one of my favourite Odo quotes ever, particularly given who he's saying it to.

Gábor Árki

For the three 90s Trek shows I never skip the intros, even when I watched them on my own.

Andrew Skow

The fife/flute O'Brien received from Julian was a Pied Piper reference regarding the cardassian vole infestation.
