Welp another Coen bros movie I thoroughly enjoyed! Get ready to witness my insanely bad memory as I question several times what I remember from True Grit 1969 😆 I liked both versions! You guys have a fav?

2026-10-07 05:00 I always liked both versions equally. Also Hailee Steinfeld was so good in this, she’s incredible at acting mature as a child. It’s such a nuanced performance.

It's been ages since I've watched this version so my goldfish memory will probably match yours Jen haha , looking forward to checking this out over the weekend popcorn 🍿 🍺 for me the original is better simply because of how great Kim Darby was as Mattie 🔥

nick bell

Love the second one. Was never a big fan of the first.

Woohoo! So stoked for this! 🐴🤠👍 Will catch when back home. I've only seen the original once and loved it, so couldn't choose a fave yet. Shout out for Coen Bros' The Hudsucker Proxy (1994). Forrest Gump-esque screwball comedy about 1950s corporate ladder climbing.

JPDotCom23

This movie was faithful to the book, the John Wayne version was tailor made to him.

Hailee Steinfeld, who played Maddie, is part of the MCU, she plays Kate Bishop, a.k.a Hawkeye. She is on Disney's 'Hawkeye' as well. She's carved out a nice lil career for herself. One of her better movies, a smaller movie is 'The Edge of Seventeen'. In bigger movies, besides the MCU, she was in 'Bumblebee'.

JPDotCom23

Not everything needs to be Oscar calibre, she was, after all, a teenager, you're only as good as the offers you get.

Hailee Steinfeld is a main actress in "Sinners", which was one of the best and most popular UNIQUE movies this year. (Great choice for scary season) Also - she voices VI (Violet) in the Acrane series, which is one of the best animated ANYTHING of all time, and it's a disappointing shame the majority of Jen's fanbase for some unknown reason doesn't want Jen to watch, because she would love it. She also voices Gwen Stacy (Spider-Gwen) in the Spiderverse movies.

John Waynes True Grit is my favorite Western, I knew I would hate the new one, I was wrong, its a great movie

Clay F

I prefer True Grit (2010) over True Grit (1969). I like the western genre. Two westerns I recommend: 1. "3:10 to Yuma" (2007) (Christian Bale, Russell Crowe). Watch this 2007 remake first and then decide if you want to watch the the 1957 original w/Glenn Ford. 2. "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (1976) (Clint Eastwood). Watched many times.

TigerMyth

Hey! Where is my Trek. You got me used to Friday night dinner with Trek!

TigerMyth

I don't hate it but I also don't really like it. Bridges sounds like he has a bag of marbles in his mouth. I can understand younger people liking it a lot more than the original because it has much better production values and better acting. Except for the marble mouth.

rubberkidney

is this the line to complain about late trek?

TigerMyth

Yup. Take a seat over there.

Summer

Hope all is well Jen

Ian

Jen never stated trek uploads were scheduled for Fridays until recently they were mostly a Saturday upload her schedule changed for a bit when the baby arrived and now Jen has returned to her old schedule so you're just have to be patient as I imagine sometimes they will go up Fridays other weeks a different day . Regardless her reactions are always worth waiting for

TigerMyth

It's a joke Ian. Chill.
