Dylan

What an awesome list. So many great choices and I’m gonna pick all of them cause which ever one wins I’m just excited for Jen’s reaction 🔥

Zack Parks

They just announced a sequel to THE SIMPSONS MOVIE today! It comes out two years from now, which makes it 20 years in the making.

JOEDATOR

TIME BANDITS is a great Mothy Python-adjacent film, directed by Terry Gilliam, with appearances by John Cleese and Michael Palin, and lots of Python-style humor.

roundone9

This list has a couple of my favorite childhood movies on it, I'll be excited for almost anything that gets picked!

mikethemotormouth

Yes please more Jim Carrey! Me, Myself and irene (2000), Ace Ventura: Pet Detective(1994) and my favorite, Man on the Moon(1999)

Nik

Maybe the Simpsons movie, but meh. I'm patiently waiting for some Black Dynamite!

Nik

That's such a bad idea, given how the actors are sounding. They need to end it already before it's unrecognizable.

William Rosmer

The Simpsons movie! They just announced a sequel for 2027

Amarant Coral

Just Batman Forever for me. Kilmer is my favorite Batman. I know, I know. Sacrilege. I just really dig Schumacher's gothic neon aesthetic and campy style. Also, Batman and Robin is my favorite Batman movie. Sorry not sorry. I will add my vote to TMNT later if it gets close to overtaking Liar Liar. I think I'd like to see TMNT more.

Gary Poussard

Looks like we will be getting TMNT and Liar Liar Im pretty happy with that. :)

Clay F

Glad to see that Liar Liar (1997) is winning. My 3rd favorite Jim Carrey after Eternal Sunshine and Truman Show.

Amarant Coral

That's a good Carrey list. I think mine would be (1) The Cable Guy (2) Eternal Sunshine (3) Lemony Snicket's.

Jake McNulty

Wow a number of good choices here. My picks are going to be "Time Bandits", "Labyrinth", "The Simpsons Movie", "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Batman Forever".

Byrd N. Hand

Still waiting on Jen's "Meaning of Life" reaction... 🤔 Maybe also "And Now for Something Completely Different"?

JOEDATOR

I'd recommend "Live At The Hollywood Bowl" over "And Now For Something... " It's also rehashed sketches from the TV show, but a hell of a lot more fun.

Byrd N. Hand

Schumacher's injection of some of that '60s TV series campiness into Burton's dark, gothic comic book landscape just felt like oil and water to me. 🤷‍♂️

Harvey Lee

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was everywhere and such an awesome movie and yes I did study Martial Arts . Labyrinth was one of the first movies I rented on VHS back in the day . Such an enchanting fantasy film directed by Jim Henson with the lovely Jennifer Connelly Plus David Bowie as the Goblin King so looking forward to these . 🤘

Byrd N. Hand

No reason she can't watch both, à la Aria C (even if 'Nudge, Nudge' and the 'Lumberjack Song' appear in both) -- especially if she's not going to watch the whole Flying Circus series.

Summer

I had hoped Never Ending Story would come soon, have not watched it in 36 or more years, bought it on amazon video. But Labrynth would be good, if you did Muppets take Manhattan you mught see a familiar face too.

Eric Janssen

Conan the Destroyer was made because the studio found out kids loved Conan, but couldn’t see an R-rated John Milius epic about the lamentations of women. Imagine Arnold’s Conan wandering into He-Man’s world, and you get the fun idea. 😄

Bryan Tuck

Liar Liar is fun. It's far from Jim Carrey's best movie, but it might be the best overall showcase for his particular niche within 1990s pop culture. :)

Happy Hanukkah

Pity poor producer. The Replacements is a fun movie.

Clay F

Liar Liar is one of Jim Carrey's best movies.

Byrd N. Hand

For me, Carrey was usually 'too much' in his comedic vehicles. I could really only handle him in small bursts, à la In Living Color or when there was a so-called counterbalance to him, à la Jeff Daniels in "Dumb and Dumber." I'll always go back to his more dramatic 'holy trinity' of "The Truman Show," "Man on the Moon," and "Eternal Sunshine" before anything else he's done. 🤷‍♂️

Clay F

He was great in In Living Color. We watched that as it aired. My top 3 Jim Carrey movies in order: 1. Eternal Sunshine 2. The Truman Show 3. Liar Liar

Eric Janssen

Now that the German “Monty Python Fliegender Zirkus” episodes (with the Red Riding Hood and Silly Olympics sketches) are on Tubi, there’s no real reason to watch Hollywood Bowl anymore—Except for the Four Yorkshiremen and Comedy Lecture sketches that can be found on YouTube. The live versions of the classics aren’t exactly improvements. 😖 And “Completely Different” is necessary for a new generation that posts Life of Brian clips everywhere but never knew a TV series ever existed.

Eric Janssen

Well, so much for Bart’s “I will not wait 20 years to make another movie”,..

JOEDATOR

Yeah, I agree, but I do think the energy of the Hollywood Bowl show can’t be beat. You can see what a great time everyone was having. Also you get the Last Supper sketch which is a banger, and Idle running through the audience, and Cleese selling albatross in the crowd. And Neil Innes performs a number. It’s a whole experience. A few people I know were at that show and I’ll never stop being jealous.
