I know Clerks is trailing but I would love to see a reaction for that one!

Collinson

Would love to see a reaction to "The Meaning of Life" but know how difficult that would be to edit for Youtube. Maybe a Patreon exclusive?

Kane Is Able

Definitely would love a Clerks reaction!

Rob Nichols

Another poll that needs an all of the above button. And a double vote button for Buckaroo Banzai.

Dylan

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a must watch. Jim Carrey is fantastic in it.

DrJonasVenture

The hand to hand combat in The Raid is truly amazing. Really the best in recent years. The sequel is excellent, as well.

Brian's Dog

Team Banzai bros, it's happening...

Byrd N. Hand

Several other reactors have made successful YT edits.

Toc

I'm just throwing a title out there, I know it's on your list already but want to keep it on your radar because I know you will love this movie: Paper Moon (1973).

Max du Coudray

Buckaroo Banzai is one of the most unique movies you'll see. I love it. The sound mixing is quite terrible in my opinion and I highly recommend you watch with subtitles, even though it's a US film. It's hard to appreciate a lot of the unusual dialogue on your first watch otherwise.

Byrd N. Hand

"Ace Ventura" is the second unfunniest movie I've ever seen (after "Wedding Crashers"), so naturally it's off to an early lead... 🤦‍♂️

Matt

I love Hook so much, such a childhood favorite for me

Matt

I'd be so interested in your reaction to The Raid

rubberkidney

ooh hook with fan favorite rufio aka zuko prince of the fire nation.

Kit Taylor

I 100% believe that that is your genuine reaction, but I also feel bad that your brain operates that way because those two movies are both comedy masterpieces. When I first saw "Ace Ventura" I was 12 and I felt like the world had opened a new dimension for me that I didn't know existed... the only other time I've laughed that hard in a theater was "South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut". And the only other movies to make me laugh that hard are "Bad Santa" and "Borat".

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

I just hope that if you do watch Clerks you don't wait too long to watch the next chapter in the ViewAskewniverse (Mallrats) 😁

Brian Galvin

Buckaroo bonsai, amazingly Bizzarro nuts

Cody Downs

Different strokes for different folks, Kit. Look, as I think (based off your profile pic) you & I are the same generation: I have the same verdict as you did on all those films that made you "laugh hard" as I saw them (also) theatrically; i.e. BORAT, ACE VENTURA 1 & 2, SOUTH PARK and BAD SANTA - though I prefer the unrated cut of the latter that is on DVD/Blu-ray, etc. Not sure when/where Byrd saw ACE or WEDDING CRASHERS. But, if it didn't vibe for him like you or I: no sweat.... Thanks for hearing me out & Happy Holidays 👌

Cody Downs

1 MILLION % agree with you on the sound mix of BUCKAROO BANZAI! As a longtime fan of it, I saw it for the first time in 35mm at a revival screening in L.A. & the final sound mix on that film is atrocious with a Capital A

Byrd N. Hand

It felt as though both movies were trying to bludgeon me to death with its 'humor.' 🤷‍♂️ I don't mind lowbrow humor, but it at least has to be clever (see your "South Park" example as well as this poll's "The Meaning of Life") -- and I don't feel it was in the case of those 2 movies. Of course, I'll laugh all the way through films like "Napoleon Dynamite" or "The Royal Tenenbaums," whereas I know there are plenty of people who fail to see any of the humor I find in them. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Comedy really is, as most creative arts are, only going to be good for those who like it. Basically it's the old "in the eye of the beholder" explanation. Funny to one person may be not funny to others, but it's not for you to say as fact that something is unfunny. Personally, I thought Super Troopers was totally unfunny to me, but i refrained from commenting on it because others thought it was hilarious for their own valid reasons.

Over50Gamer

I have never seen MP The Meaning Of Life, but I've wanted to for a long while, so that got a vote. Ace Ventura gets one of the few comedy votes from me, because F it, it's Jim Carey. Clerks also, because I love Kevin Smith's work and perspective. BUT! I am very surprised and happy to see cult-classic Buckaroo Banzai on here because that was a childhood favorite for me (I had a strange childhood full of sci-fi and horror 🙃)

Byrd N. Hand

Could we maybe get some director-specific polls in the future? Film is, after all, often regarded as 'the director's medium'... and I feel as though Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, and Richard Donner (mostly just because of the "Lethal Weapon" series) are the only major filmmakers for whom you've now seen a substantial amount of their work for your channel. 🤔

Byrd N. Hand

All my votes as well -- except "Escape from Alcatraz" for me over "Ace Ventura." 👍

Over50Gamer

I might watch that one as well. 🙂

temsik28

I wasn't even supposed to be here today!!!

Brando83

I'm Team Clerks-Meaning of Life-Alcatraz - probably in that order.

Samuel Simpson

Meaning of Life and Clerks. I'd watch some of the others too though.

Jake McNulty

I'm going with Meaning of Life, Hook and Escape from Alcatraz.

Laura Thornley

All I'll say on Ace Ventura is its very much a product of the 90's in terms of... a certain subject.

Patrick

I'm going to be distraught if 'None of the above' beats The Raid.

Jason Scade

For me... Clint w/ Patrick McGoohan and Escape From Alcatraz, all the way. Honorable mention for Clerks.

Clay F

I voted these two (the only two movies I would watch): -Escape from Alcatraz (1979) -Clerks (1994)

Clay F

Hopefully, Clerks will beat Ace Ventura.

Clay F

Ditto

John Armbruster

Buckaroo Banzai is probably my favorite movie, and I would love to see Jenn's reaction. But I know how polarizing it is, and how confusing the first watch can be, so I'd be going into it with crossed fingers. If anyone can get it, though, Jenn is probably the one.

Jason Scade

Hi Clay. Many months ago, you posted here, a list of films and series you'd recommended to Jen. One of them was USA spy drama thriller 'The Americans'. My missus and I started watching it months ago. Had never heard of it. We've only the final 4 eps to watch. It is *so* excellent! Thank you for the recommendation! ❤️

Byrd N. Hand

Yes, I'm well aware that comedy is more subjective than any other genre in movies, TV, theatre, and literature... but I also can't help but think that at least part of younger generations' lack of appreciation for certain comedic styles - as with music - is the result of many people just not being given a better general understanding of the more technical side of it... which I feel is more of a failing on our own educational system. 🤷‍♂️ I guess I should feel fortunate that my dad reared me on Laurel & Hardy, the Marx Brothers, W.C. Fields, and the Three Stooges (though I ultimately outgrew the latter, given the one-dimensional nature of their humor is a bit similar to most of Jim Carrey's '90s comedy vehicles). 🤔 For the record, I don't like "Super Troopers," either, but I at least found the few segments when they fucked with the people they pulled over funnier than anything in "Wedding Crashers" or "Ace Ventura." 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Alas, it came out at a rather ill-timed period in my life, when I had turned 13 just a few months prior, and was starting to move away from more kiddie-oriented movies and toward more substantial fare. It remains my least favorite Spielberg film to this day (though I still haven't seen "Always" or "West Side Story"). 🤷‍♂️

Bammer

My vote went to Buckaroo Banzai.

Clay F

Jason -- that's awesome. I am glad. I love The Americans. Grabs you in the first episode. The Americans for its final season won the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama.

Jason Scade

Thanks, man. I wish I could remember which Jen Patreon post / thread your list was on, to see the other titles. We're tensely looking forward to seeing the final 4 eps. 😬💥

Grizzly-5613

Suggestion on these polls, try to poll movies by year first then genre as newer movies tend to always win out

Glenn Galloway

Buckaroo Banzai is the Big Trouble in Little China of sci-fi. 'Nuff said.

Jen Murray

That's why I make it possible to vote for as many as you want! If non-winners get lots of votes I consider watching them in near future 👍

Jason Scade

RIP Udo. Yuri's Revenge.
