Always voting for the horror choice.

Fanchman

48 hours is a great comedy/adventure movie.

nick bell

I love 48 hrs. Eddie at his best

Darryl Low

Friggin Fog! 😄 Another John Carpenter masterpiece ☺🌫

Starpartyguy

None of these excite me but History of the World is Mel Brooks so I chose that

Rob Nichols

Lots of good ones here, but The Fog and Krull are my top picks.

Over50Gamer

I voted for almost every one of these. 😁

Jason Pratt

Last Dragon, but it was left off the options.

2026-09-06 01:00 Krull is an example of something that could have been great, but hit at just the wrong time, sadly. Voting for it, all day long. Though, History of the World and Last Dragon are great, I don’t know that they’d be Jen’s cup of tea.

Jen Murray

What do you mean? It's 2nd from bottom!

Mr. Writhms

Eddie Murphy's classic movie debut in "48 Hours" is a must-see!

Jason Pratt

I’m sooooo sorry- 🤣 I’m so tired I read it as The Producers. Time to peel the contacts out and go to bed. Again, I’m so sorry.

Vina

I remember watching The Last Dragon back in the 80s, it was a ton of fun!

Rob Nichols

I'd rather see The Producers LOL!

Noremac

I'd like to see Raging Bull again, but it's losing badly. Aw well. I'm sure she'll get to it eventually.

Senzu Bean

The stand out for me is The Dark Crystal. One of the best dark fantasy movies made with the use of puppet animation. The Netflix series is excellent too. As a good second I have 48 hours; an Eddie Murphy classic and marking his major film debut.

Jen Murray

@Jason No worries! If anyone understand being tired and out of it, it's me!

Jon Anderson

I'm sure it won't win, but I'd love to see a Somewhere In Time reaction eventually. Just be sure to have plenty of tissues handy!

Clay F

I voted 48 Hrs. (1982)

Jason Scade

In a recent poll, someone suggested perhaps doing a poll sometime with movies from a particular director. Which I thought was a great idea. Maybe if there's interest, you could do a pre-poll of directors first, from which to choose. Some suggestions; Scorsese, Eastwood, Hitchcock, Coen Bros., Spielberg, Carpenter, Scott, R. Scott, T. (RIP) 🌹, Paul Thomas Anderson.

Jason Scade

It could have been somebody. It could have been a contender. ♥

Geoff S.

Jen would be ALL IN for Krull. She’d love it. Jen, Is Dog Day Afternoon in the cards? It got a lot of votes I believe.

Jason Scade

♥ From director bad-ass director Walter Hill. The Warriors (1979), Southern Comfort (1981), The Long Riders (1980).

Jason Scade

I've not seen (or heard of) Last Dragon, it isn't often a film appears here that I've not seen. I do think Jen would love History of the World: Part 1, though. 🙂👍 It is just a little bit hit-and-miss but the hits are plentiful and hilarious. Also, Madeline Kahn.🤩 Kahnnnnnn! 😍♥

Jason Scade

@Rob If a Patreon Producer selected The Producers as their pick, would that be a conflict of interests? Idk, if you know, but The Producers is heavily featured in a season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, it's brilliantly funny.

Jason Scade

I voted for your comment. 👍

The underrated "The Driver" as well.

Jason Scade

"You sonofabitch, you b*****d, I'm on old man, they don't let you live they don't let you breathe!" 🤣

The Fly

I'd like some actor polls: Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Kurt Russell, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson...

Jason Scade

Have you seen The Blackcoat's Daughter or Longlegs or Weapons or Hereditary or The House of the Devil. Very well constructed and engrossing horrors but very dark, grim and occultic.

Jason Scade

Ragin Bull, I'd say, is the best title here. I'd like that or History of World to win. Other great picks there though, in different genres. 👍

DrJonasVenture

Yep. I own all of those. Some of my favorites from that time period.

Kristin

Dark crystal really deserves a reaction! Regardless if place in the poll.

The Fly

Trespass (1992) is the most underrated Walter Hill movie, featuring Bill Paxton, Ice-T, Ice Cube & William Sadler Loosely inspired by The Treasure of The Sierra Madre

Byrd N. Hand

I'll still never forgive Netflix for cancelling the series after just 1 season. 🤬

Barry Hammock

Wow, I haven't seen Krull in close to 40 years! I wonder if it's as amazing as I remember 😅 or just a load of cheese. I have my guesses, heh

Clay F

+1 for Clint Eastwood

Adam R

The Fog! 🌫️

Logan Bruin

I love to see the reactions when I tell people Somewhere In Time is my fave movie.

Rob Nichols

Somewhere In Time is good, Time After Time is better.

Lorenzo Turner

I LOVE The Last Dragon, but I know it has no chance

Erik Lundmark

"Somewhere In Time" is one of the finest movies ever made, and it has Christopher Reeve, I will be very sad if this one looses. AND it's almost Valentines people! Jen, Please promise us that you'll watch it one day, regardless - you will n-o-t be disappointed

Erik Lundmark

I think SIT wins. I like disagreeing though :-)

Bryan Tuck

KRULL is not a great movie, but it has an EPIC score by James Horner that I think you'd appreciate. :)

Batguano

It's amazing cheese. They really went all in on that one.

Summer

The dark crystal then you can watch Labirynth I believe they go together

Senzu Bean

For Jen to cross that bridge, she must ask for permission.

Summer

Oh my, I might mention I haven’t seen these myself in thirty years, now it will be like seeing them the first time.

Greg In East TN

History Of The World is one of his funniest, but most overlooked movies. I think you'll really enjoy it. My favorite parts are the Spanish Inquisition and the French Revolution. Anyone that can make those funny is really talented!

Senzu Bean

Did you get the bridge reference? Sometimes we remember weird details. In any case, a re-watch after 30 years will feel (a)maze(ing). Especially a full length watch with Jen. She has an eye for detail which I appreciate.

Summer

I hope she does watch soon, no I don’t remember enough, it will be exciting make no mistake, your reference feels familiar, I might have been ten when I last saw bits of these ones.

Mastervodo

Krull is like a D&D adventure night.

Mastervodo

Really kinda surprised Dark Crystal is not getting more love! Iconic. Unique. Arguably Jim Henson's best. Critters! Jen would love it!

zynjams

the last Dragon is great 1980s music movie, produced by Barry Gordy of Motown

zynjams

nightmare movie

GuardianAlexio

This poll is too good. So many good options. The Dark Crystal is forever etched into my childhood. The Last Dragon is such a fun experience. History of the World and Raging Bull are good movies. And well Krull? I think it's a bad/fun movie.

Sarah Jane

The best version of The Fog is 2007's The Mist, with Thomas Jane, which is a polite way of saying I found The Fog a waste of time. :)

Clay F

Glad to see that 48 Hrs. (1982) [RT 92%] [Eddie Murphy’s first movie] remains in the lead. Murphy received Golden Globe nom for New Star of the Year. One of most commercially successful films of 1982, receiving widespread acclaim. Great duo of Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte. 48 Hrs. is "often credited as being the first in the 'buddy cop' genre." The musical score composed by James Horner. 48 Hrs. (1982) “Marking an auspicious feature film debut for Eddie Murphy, 48 Hrs. is a briskly paced action comedy that succeeds largely due to the outstanding chemistry between its two leads.”

D.A.V.E.

Krull all the way, 80s Sci Fi Fantasy goodness

Byrd N. Hand

Alas, grittier and/or darker dramas rarely do well in polls (unless they're either war or mob movies). Most people go for the shallower, more sentimental stuff. 😔

Zapp Rowsdower

It tends to be the go-to after someone has seen Spaceballs, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein - usually seen in that order 🤪

Jason Scade

I agree with everything, Clay. 🍻 Except 1974's Freebie and the Bean predates 48 Hrs. And the format is very similar. Freebie.. is something of a blueprint for Lethal Weapon, imo. 👍

Jason Scade

I wasn't expecting The Spanish Inquisition! 😮

Greg In East TN

Neither was Monty Python! ROLF I have that t shirt.

jon bolton

48 Hours and The Fog are two of my favourites.

2026-09-06 01:00 48 Hours all the way. It’s one of Eddie’s best, and better than the overly-reacted-to BHC, imho
2026-02-03 18:42

Byrd N. Hand

"The Producers" and especially "Silent Movie" both need more love. They're my 2 favorite Brooks films. "High Anxiety" is also underrated, but you need to see about 5 particular Hitchcock films first in order to fully appreciate it.

Clay F

Agree, 48 Hrs. better than BHC.

Bernie Zwicky

I really think you’d love 48 hours…that said, Somewhere in Time, is a really beautiful movie! I’ve even been to the island and hotel where the movie was filmed!😊❤️

Jason Scade

Yes, I know Trespass. I'd recommend. It was a good seller on laserdisc for me, back in the day, and a decent modern remake of Sierra Madre. Both of the Ice's acting leave something to be desired but Bill Paxton and Bill Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption, many others) are solid, as always. I would have added it to the Walter Hill recommendations but I thought I'd mention his best first. I'd forgotten about 'The Driver', that's a plus+. Extreme Prejudice (heist/thriller, 1987), I remember loving at the time but idk how well it's aged. Walter Hill also directed the 1st episode of HBO's award winning Revisionist Western 'Deadwood'. It's Shakespearean in excellence. Outstanding ensemble cast. Dialog QT would kill for. Only 3 seasons and 1 tie-up movie. 'Ricochet' (1991?) with Denzil Washington and John Lithgow is a guilty pleasure and forgotten early 90s crime/thriller, was pretty brutal at the time.

The Fly

Although there are earlier prototypes, 48 Hrs is considered the original Buddy Movie

Sean

THE FOG!!! John Carpenter the horror master.

Clay F

I have nostalgia for 48 Hrs. (1982). My friends and I at age 19 in 1982 loved 48 Hrs.

Andrew

There are a lot of a great titles on this list. I think Jen will really enjoy The Dark Crystal and Somewhere In Time, and History Of the World and 48hrs are classic comedies.

Jason Scade

"It's good to be the king." :P

Jason Scade

I prefer the Scottish remake; 'The Foog!'. 👍

JPDotCom23

Crap, no 'Fog' or 'Raging Bull'
