Yes! Ready

Dylan

We finally made it to Season 4 of DS9. This is going to be good 🔥🖖

Ian

I think I speak for many when I say we have been waiting excitedly for this one , can't wait to check it out , happy Jen trek Friday , lady Jen you're the Vulcan best 🔥🖖

Zapp Rowsdower

You may now LOOK at the opening credits 😄

Dean

LETS FUCKKNG GOOOOOOO!

Curran Dobbs

Been sitting on that one for awhile now...

William Rosmer

Wish I could watch now but will have to ib about 3.5 hours

Rob Nichols

Remember don't watch the opening credits! I hope you had a freak out as big as when Spock appeared in Unification. Worf's addition was another spoiler that we got weeks ahead of time, I don't know what they were thinking. Imagine a trailer for The Empire Strikes Back with Darth Vader's "I am your father" line.

TC Green

WORF SON OF MOGH LET’S GO!!!!

EGT Entertainment

Now you see why we said don't watch the opening credits. Back in the 90's it was everywhere. It was in every ad for the premere it was the cover of TV Guide.

Fanchman

Going to try to ditch the family for a couple of hours. 😁 Engage!!

Squeesher

Quark: "Do you hear that?" Jen: "What, the new theme song?" 😂😂😂 Also, we see J.G. Hertzler as Martok, a character I love almost as much as Garak! Let's GOOOOOO

Laura Thornley

Love this episode. Not much else to say!

Curran Dobbs

The guy who plays Martok also played Sisko Vulcan Captain in the opening scene of the first episode of series 1 when they're fighting the Borg.

TigerMyth

Crazy that we finished TNG and now all the way to season 4 of DS9. Time flies when having fun. Even with the bad episodes with the exception that I still haven't watched Beverly's Ghostly Adventures in Erotica.

Paul Peavler

Season 4 let’s gooooooo. I’m so excited for this. Also, I was worried you were going to fully skip the intro and not hear the music so I’m glad you didn’t. I also don’t like this version 😭. I miss the slow, contemplative, restrained original, which I also think fits the vibe of DS9 better, but that’s me. I’m just so excited to go through this season and the following. Also, Avery Brooks had the goatee/shaved head look before DS9 but they asked him to shave the beard and grow his hair out for the show. I think part of it was that they didn’t want two bald captains at the same time when it overlapped with TNG, so now that TNG was over, Sisko got the promotion, the goatee, and the bald head. Just like the original name for the Defiant was the Valiant, but Voyager was in preproduction at the time and they didn’t want both shows to have the hero ship name start with a “V” so it was changed to Defiant. Just some absolutely useless background trivia.

TC Green

Translations of the Klingon from Memory Alpha: Drex's insult to Odo: "Does your mother let you talk to adult men?" Martok, delivering Kaybok's d'k tahg to Sisko: "For you." Dax's quip to Worf: "Yeah, but I'm a lot better looking than he was." Huraga's drinking song file info: "And the blood was ankle deep / And the River Skral ran crimson red / On the day above all days / When Kahless slew evil Molor dead." Martok and Gowron, in battle: "They fight like Klingons!" "Then they can die like Klingons! Destroy their shields! Prepare boarding parties!" "I understand. All ships, concentrate fire on their shield generators." Gowron, right before the battle: "Today is a good day to die," as explicitly translated by Worf. Note, however, that this is slightly different from previous Klingon versions of the phrase, which are usually stated as "Heghlu'meH QaQ jajvam", instead of "CHEGH-chew jaj-VAM jaj-KAK!" as in this episode. Martok, near the end of battle: "But Gowron, victory is near."

TigerMyth

I'm team original theme. I don't think i ever noticed the change when the show originally aired but listening to them side by side, the new theme neutered the horns.

Curran Dobbs

When Dax met Worf and he brought up Curzon, she said something along the lines of "But I'm better looking" in Klingon.

Mr. Mike's Multiverse

Been waiting for this one for a long time! All the pieces are now on the board. If you followed Star Trek back then, this wasn't a kept secret. DS9 wasn't doing great in the ratings at the time, so they wanted to add a TNG character to boost them. I am glad Jen was blindsided by this cast addition and I can't wait to see her face when she realizes everyone's favorite Klingon has boarded the station. So, lets get to it....

Bobby Coolbreeze

Oh man I was checking to see if you posted the video I gotta wait till tonight I can’t wait to watch it with you!

Rob Nichols

Brooks also played a recurring role on the TV series Spencer For Hire where he had the goatee and bald head. They made a few Spencer TV movies while DS9 was on the air so he had to get back into character.

Fr. Brench

Your new-style picture-in-picture watch-along worked perfectly! You and the episode were slightly out of sync with each other, but it was only an issue when you were singing the theme tune at the beginning and the end. (And I think that's how a lot of us normally fine-tune our watch-along experience normally anyway, haha!) I forgot how much happened in this one episode, what a ride! Apart from the epic stuff, Garak and Quark's conversation about root beer is such an insightful moment about the Federation, too.

TC Green

Last comment I promise, but I wanted to point out that the “Root Beer Scene” is a fan favorite and it was written last minute and everyone involved had to fight to keep it from getting cut. Thankfully they did because while short it is fantastic.

Bammer

Great reaction, Jen. I knew you were going to flip when you saw Worf. The "To Be Continued..." actually originally happened after Gowron says "Come with me, Worf! Glory awaits you on Cardassia." and the zoom in on Worf.

Dean

Biggest difference I think gets overlooked between Worf in these episodes vs Worf on TNG: the command crew *listens* to him and doesn’t dismiss his suggestions! Normally Picard or Riker would be like “yeaaahhh… no. Open communications. Data. Geordi. Science our way out of this!” to nearly every suggestion Worf put forward

Dean

So the first thing Jadzia says to Worf in Klingon is “yeah, but I have better legs”

Jen Murray

Thanks for letting me know! I have come to realize that the sound in my headphones is actually about 1 second behind the picture onscreen. We sync to match picture to picture so that's why. My headphones need the 1 second cause they are bluetooth. I may go back to headphones with wires so there's no delay!

Rob Nichols

I like to think Garak would have been happier with Dr. Pepper.

Rob Nichols

It was great of Jen to offer the watch along, but man that picture is small. I make my own watch alongs with a bigger picture https://i.imgur.com/tPDjp9i.png I sync to the reflection in her glasses, it's foolproof.

Summer

I first watched on DVD and knew the change that was coming but liked the episode. The old theme became enjoyable to you, that is great. The new theme is good but when you watch episodes in seasons 1-3 you will suddenly remember liking the theme, other times you might remember if felt slow at times. The root eer scene is important, when Armin and Andrew rehearsed it they did so one way then the director wanted it different but Armin put his foot down saying call the writer let him decide. Ira decided to see it both ways and Armin won.

Dean

I love how we got to see Jadzia and Kira bonding as well in the holosuite. DS9 relationships are so well developed and defined compared to the other Trek shows in my opinion especially with the extended cast. Like I don’t know how well McCoy and Scotty really got along. Or Geordi and Worf. I don’t recall them hanging out all that much, but I can tell you exactly how every member of the DS9 crew gets along with every other member.

HeWhoLooksSkyward

Not to mention the spin-off series, "A Man Called Hawk".

Geoff S.

If you only knew what was coming! I can't wait to see these episodes along with you! The full length watch along is fantastic!

Sykonee

So... anyone else think the bumper image needs a S4 update too? ;)

Matt Poppell

So glad Worf’s appearance was not spoiled for you! For me, this episode is really the point where DS9 finds its identity and groove. And the studio finally gave the writers a bit more freedom/budget and it shows. Can’t wait for you to continue watching! Also, fun fact that this is how Avery Brooks naturally looks, but when DS9 first started the producers changed his look so Sisko wouldn’t look like Hawk from his previous show (A Man Called Hawk). Brooks has stated before that he was never comfortable in Sisko’s early look and he felt more like himself when they finally let him go bald with a goatee.

Laura Thornley

More or less what Gowron and Martok are saying (since Klingon doesn't translate completely into English): Martok: "They fight like Klingons!" Gowron: "Then they'll die like Klingons!"

Jen Murray

Yes, will be doing so but didn't wanna spoil it in case there's anyone who's watching for first time. Tho I doubt it!

Fanchman

I'm so glad you got to experience this spoiler free. I'll rewatch with the normal watch-along when I get home. Thank you Jen! For taking us on your Star Trek journey. Brings back great memories.

Bernie Zwicky

I thought your Picture in Picture watch along worked awesome. I was surprised how much better the quality of the video was on my tablet compared to my tv screen! And it was so nice, not having to sync anything and just press play or pause whenever I needed to, without having to time it perfectly! Great reaction as always…I hope you use this format again someday…loved it!😊

jon bolton

I'm glad you loved it as much as i do.

Jen Murray

Dang. I tried to get close to pic the size Cinebinge is offering. I have already converted dozens and dozens of videos now at this size. Was hoping to offer Watch-alongs for everything soon. But if people won't be happy at this size I guess I'll have to re-do it all :(

Bammer

This was THEE episode that finally got me to watch Deep Space Nine. When DS9 first came out, I didn't like it and didn't really care to watch it. When I caught the preview on T.V. that Michael Dorn was going to be in this episode, it got my attention so I watched and from this episode onward I was hooked. I watched the reruns of the previous 3 seasons whenever they aired on T.V. and discovered that it wasn't as bad as I initially thought it was.

Markus W.

Speaking only for myself, the size is fine (and similar to what if seen with other creators). If you still offer the blurred/muted ones as well, then I guess people can choose themselves which one to watch?

Beagle Boy

Sisko's final form, great episode but the best is yet to come.

John DiGiantomasso

I think the DS9 format works so well to develop these relationships. In the other Star Trek series, the cast is always off on a grand adventure every week. Here, DS9 is where they live - so they are more like friends and neighbors versus just shipmates. They are actually living their lives here - both on duty and off - and DS9 actually takes the time to delve into both worlds.

Bammer

It worked fantastic. I thought the size of the PIP was fine. I don't think you need to redo any of it, just experiment and adjust as you see fit on future vids.

Summer

You make me even more excited to watch the season with you

2026-09-06 01:00 While this is the best season opener, the next episode, yikes, is arguably one of DS9’s top 5. It’s the DS9 version of TNG’s Inner Light in terms of emotional intensity
2026-02-13 21:01

Markus W.

It is somewhat blurry in my memory (since it has almost been 30 years 👴), I was a kid back then and in Europe (which meant we got the dubbed version a year-ish later) but the fact that Worf joined the cast was revealed beforehand. So it's nice that you actually got to be surprised! <3

Over50Gamer

I'm glad that they let Avery get back the bald/goatee look; it looks BADASS on him!

Markus W.

Also no spoilers, but I would recommend to prepare tissues for the next one

Over50Gamer

I'm so glad to see Gowron again, ive missed him so much! No one does the crazy-stare like his actor, and he's one of those characters that I'd love to have a drink with!

Markus W.

Glory to you and your house! 👀

Bobby Coolbreeze

As i didn’t watch you yet and I know you have a musical ear! But I bet you heard all the differences in the new theme. I personally loved the new theme variation and new title sequence as it depicted the station very busy and now shows of the Defiant! To me this represents a turning point for the show, the station, our crew and the overall status quo. Also you see workers and worker bee shuttles moving in and around the station. I thought it was when the station was being retrofitted in the past year to prepare for a Dominion attack! A far cry from the pilot when they only had only six photon torpedoes and had to use tricks like Thoron fields and Duranium shadows Except this time was no bluff!

Jen Murray

Ok thanks guys! Obviously want to make people happy so hopefully you can bear with me as I roll it out on the sizing of the ones already completed 👍 Hoping to offer this soon

John DiGiantomasso

Right. We were all "spoiled" by the popular media of the time. Jen got to enjoy the surprise. am absolutely impressed that we as her community conducted ourselves in an exemplary manner and preserved the moment. So well done, everyone! We can all be proud of what we did - and let's recommit to not spoil all the other amazing turns of events that are coming in the next 4 seasons!

Zapp Rowsdower

Now that you've watched the season opener, something else that has changed in the opening credits - taking a back seat to the addition of Worf, and the new theme song recording - is the credit for the actor who played Dr. Bashir: In season 1-3, he was credited as Siddig el-Fadil. From season 4 onward, he was credited as Alexander Siddig. It's not a stretch to assume it was so he could get more acting work.

John DiGiantomasso

Two things... First the theme. As a French Horn player, I know that the "new" theme reduces the prominence of that instrument. But I actually like it more because it perfectly encapsulates the change in the philosophy of the series. Initially, DS9 was about a outpost on the extreme edge of the Federation. The theme to me evoked the echoing of instruments in a lonely canyon out west. It was very still, calm, and mournful. But now - particularly in Seasons 3 and beyond - DS9 is the hub of activity. Cardassians, Bajorans, Dominion, Klingons, Romulans, and so much more - this is becoming the focal point of the Alpha Quadrant. The them starts with a driving base beat: "dum-dum-dum-dum-dum..." It implies motion and momentum. Then the instruments aren't so much solo or harmonic themes; they come and go and echo and interleave with each other - just like all the powers are constantly mixing it up on DS9. It's so much more about integration and interaction versus lonely voices in emptiness. Second, a few years back I was able to attend a concert where an orchestra played all the Star Trek themes from the movies and series. It was a great evening (and I was able to get the performance on CD which was cool.) Perhaps best of all, the host of the evening was Michael Dorn - who introduced each theme and gave his insights. One thing that they said was that his "Worf" was the character with the most screentime in the entire Star Trek universe - with 11 seasons of TNG and DS9 combined as a regular cast member. Maybe that has changed with the production of Star Trek Picard - but at the time it was true.

Opti_Frog

The Klingon line spoken by Dax might actually lose something in the translation, but what the script said was "Yeah, but I'm a lot better looking than he was".

Dean

I just wish other characters on TNG had the opportunity to develop like the top few of the billing (Picard, Data, Worf, Riker). I feel like Geordi got stuck spinning his wheels for the most part without too much development. Levar Burton is such a fantastic actor. I’m glad he was able to direct so many episodes of DS9. Side note: he’s the one who gave Terry Farrell the nickname “Action Barbie” while filming episodes this season

PJAvenger

Garak + Quark + Root Beer = Insidious!

Opti_Frog

Yeah, this great show is about to become even better. This awesome jumbo episode is still just to whet your appetite. And it's SO GOOD! The reworked theme is in my opinion the superior one. Of course, it comes down to taste, and i simply adore the addition of the subtle, driving 4/4 synth (at least i think it's a synth). It's not at mellow as the original, and it gets me so pumped to watch. Is it controversial to say that no other Trek show has better recurring characters than DS9? Dukat and Garak are always a joy, and in this episode we get probably the two best Klingons, Martok and Gowron, in all of Trek-dom. How can anyone dislike Gowron? He's insane and amazing! 😄

Rob Nichols

Sorry Jen, I didn't mean that as a complaint. I've been editing together my own watch alongs for a year now, and I make the pic as big as I can. Just do what you think is best, and makes everyone happy.

Markus W.

Jen, a question about the watch along website: Is that one set in stone? I'm asking because I did not see an option there to AirPlay the video (e.g. to a TV). This is not a dealbreaker for me, I can either hook up my laptop to the TV or use screen mirroring from my phone, but it would be a lot more convenient. On other channels the full video is the video of the Patreon post (what in this post is the YouTube video) and the Patreon player allows AirPlay. Again if it is easier to use the streamable website for you then it's fine, I will make it work, just wanted to ask! 😊

Kristin

I'm so happy that no one spoiled this for you. Not only getting to see Worf again, but also that he joins the cast! I'm in the "do not like the new theme". I find the background rhythm a big jarring, and it overrides the majesty of the main melody.

john reed

really been looking forward to seeing this reaction all week jen and so glad you enjoyed it . remember watching this the 1st time it aired back in the day brilliant episode

William Rosmer

the root beer conversation was just a piece of filler to get the show on time, then it faced getting cut when they ended up being slightly over for time then again when the show got split in 2 for syndication. it is by far one of my favorite interactions in all of fiction. and bald+goatee sisko is best sisko

Summer

There are more seasons? 😜😏😉

The_Truth

When are you gonna start Voyager reactions?

Kristin

After DS9 is over, and she hasn't committed to it yet either. I'm going to request that she watch an another sci-fi show along side Voyager. I don't think Voyager can hold it's own like TNG and DS9. She could watch Enterprise. Or maybe a completely unrelated sci-fi show like Stargate SG-1 or Battlestar Galactica. I won't ever support watching any of the new Trek. None of it. Trek ends with Enterprise.

Kristin

Not controversial. This is why DS9 is so great. It's a full universe with a wide variety of characters and storylines. Infinite possibilities.

prot180

I don't know if this has already been answered or even if it's true but I remember reading that what Jadzia said to Worf when translated meant "Yes, but I'm better looking".

Brian Moore

Loving the no copy needed version! So glad you’re able to try that out now, and I hope it stays around. On the Trek side, IT’S FREAKING WORF!!! I wish the credits didn’t ruin it but I’m glad you were completely surprised!

William Rosmer

oh it looks like you didn't catch it, but worf lied to sisko, he has been on a federation ship with a cloaking device before. that was the whole point of the pegasas episode.

John Shepard

Great start to the forth season. I think that DS9 does the best at season opening episodes than the other Star Trek shows. The new theme is nice, but maybe I like the first 3 seasons better. The visuals are better for the remaining 4 seasons however. As for your full watch along. It worked without issues for me. Very enjoyable.

Jen Murray

I'm not comfortable putting Watch-alongs on Patreon, I personally think it is too risky. If anyone knows any options for using Airplay with Streamable please let me know! I'm not married to using Streamable, I just know other reactors are using it

Harry S

I am. Thanks for thinking of me!

Harry S

That was a good episode, thanks Jen! The weapons officer who was hurt on the defiant when fighting the klingons was Patricia Tallman who starred in Night of the Living Dead 1990. She also starred in Babalon 5, two of my favorites. Michael Straczynski pitched the idea of Babylon 5 to Paramount, they stole his idea and made ds9. That's why you had two shows about a space station come out in 1993. 'The best way to get a great idea is to steal one from someone else.' From How to Succeed in Big Business without really trying, 1961. I guess they saw the movie. At the end of this episode Worf says I have alot to learn about command. Obrian agrees and says you can't have a better teacher, (than Sisco). Here are two crewmen who served on the enterprise under Picard. One says he never learned about Command, and the other agrees and says you can learn from Sisco. Like I said, This was a Good Episode!

Collinson

Great episodes and great reaction. I love every season of DS9 but this season is where the series becomes very cinematic and hits a little different to other Treks.

Desmond

The new theme music will definitely take some getting used to. I was almost looking forward to your reaction to that as much as Worf showing up! "In war, there is nothing more honorable than victory." Always loved that line. It says so much about the Klingons. They did a great job with the battle scenes, just as epic as what they did last season with the Cardassian/Romulan fleet vs the Jem'hadar, if not moreso. And the root beer scene is classic too. One of the very best scenes on this show. Just two aliens, with very different backgrounds doing their best to understand the Federation.

Desmond

It'll probably take her some time to get used to the new theme. I certainly needed some! But yes, eventually I concluded it was better. So excited for her to go through this season. Almost every episode is a winner. Probably the best single season of Trek up to this point.

Opti_Frog

On a completely different note, i love Bill the cat.

Slate

Yes, definitely watch Babylon 5, Jen! It's basically DS9 on steroids.

Slate

I was looking forward to your reaction to seeing Worf, Jen, and you didn't disappoint! This is where DS9 really kicks things into overdrive. You'll love how it all plays out! So many incredible episodes yet to come! And speaking of which, there's a certain episode in Season 5 where you are going to absolutely lose it lol. DS9 veterans know which one I'm talking about. I won't say anything more, but trust me, you'll know it when you see it. ;)

Chris Biebel

I had to look it up, and when I did, I thought "I didn't realize this one came up this early." I'd recommend bringing an extra box of tissues...

Chris Biebel

First of all, even though I have a copy on DVD, I went with the "watch along" version to see how well it works and give some feedback on it. Generally, it worked very well. The one little kink was when I paused it and went to do a quick errand, with my computer going into standby mode. When I revived it, the video and audio were out of sync, but it was corrected when I reloaded the page. That was the only issue I found with it. Just thought you should know. Yes, the reason why we didn't want you to watch the opening credits was because Michael Dorn was listed in them (and a guest star wouldn't be listed like that). The fact that TNG ended and the other Star Trek show not being affected by the events in DS9 because of *reasons*, meant that DS9 had a lot of leeway to make changes in the Star Trek universe, as you will discover the rest of the way forward. And DS9 will become a lot less episodic. Being considered the "red-headed stepchild" of Trek at the time kind of worked in its favor in that way. The main complaint by haters that "They never go anywhere" always sounded silly to me considering that they were parked next to a wormhole that would literally take them farther than the Enterprise ever traveled in more than just 2-3 episodes of TNG,

Bobby Coolbreeze

Loved your reaction! Now you have to rewatch the opening titles! And yes Worf is here to stay! This was a landmark episode for the series and the Star Trek franchise going forward. There is so much to process in this episode! This was truly a historic. It’s gets better which is insane!

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I'm probably gonna watch this reaction like 5 times just to bask in how much fun you had, J, before I can actually analyze the episode again myself and post any intelligent commentary lol The reaction itself was one of the most enjoyable things I've ever watched. Certainly one of the most enjoyable tv show reactions I've ever watched.

Bobby Coolbreeze

I was able to airplay the episode watch along to my tv by turning airplay on and then switching to the streamable link on my phone and it worked. The video was awesome on my TV.

Bobby Coolbreeze

I agree the music changes the tone of the series literally. DS9 is in full swing and seems busier visually in the credits sequences. Very cinematic and exciting. Such a departure from the pilot episode. This is where the show truly matured and came into its own.

Bobby Coolbreeze

I think it’s safe to say now this is probably the most popular reaction of DS9 and possibly all your Star Trek reactions yet!

Andrew Roach

Thank you for doing this watch along version, it won't really be necessary again until the series finale. Epic episode and isn't it really great to have such epic action and still have your characters act like rational and intelligent people? Can't wait for you to actually see the opening credits. Next episode is top 5 or 10 for many people I think.

Markus W.

As Bobby said, it's also possible to AirPlay/ScreenMirror the whole phone to the TV and watch in the Browser. It was a bit wonky for me (using the AppleTV remote to pause / fast forward kicked me out of the screen mirroring, so I had to do this via the phone), but that is workable. Another possibility I've found is that you can easily get the link to the actual video file on streamable using Inspect Element in a desktop browser and either download the video file and play it locally or if you have some video player app on your TV that can play an URL (e.g. VLC) just put that in there. I hope that is ok, Jen? I guess we are "downloading" the video anyway when streaming, and I'm not gonna share it around. So with that Streamable is good for me, Jen. Thanks for your efforts! ❤️

Lee

Your picture-in-picture was actually bigger than the format I use with the DVDs (although in those instances, I put your reaction in the corner and watch the episode full-screen). Personally, I hope the watch-alongs continue in this manner, if possible.

Kev Longley

I always try to sync to the picture, but inevitably when you start singing the theme its clear that things aren't synced, so I then resync the music to your humming

Paul Peavler

The CineBinge team built their own player on the Streamables platform that allows Airplay and Casting, I use it all the time. They may be willing to tell you how they set that up.

Paul Peavler

I think there are a couple other episodes of DS9 that rival Inner Light, one in particular in a later season. But that’s one reason why DS9 is so good.

Paul Peavler

I also think there are characters from TNG that also appear in DS9 and get more development in DS9 than in TNG. O’Brien and Keiko are obvious examples, or even what we’ve seen from one appearance of Thomas Riker in each series. And even better examples coming up that I won’t get into for spoiler reasons, IMO.

Dean

To be fair, the Enterprise cloaked for like only 2 minutes to exit the asteroid and it didn’t have the “we’re cloaked” cool lighting

Brett Whittaker

Your face when Worf arrived!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode so much. I actually read the novel of WOTW before the episode came out, I think I actually still have it somewhere. BTW the Klingon home world is called Kronos.

Bobby Coolbreeze

Something i missed the first few times I watched this episode. Dax and Bashir both get rank promotions off screen. Dax is a Lieutenant Commander now and Bashir is now a full lieutenant We also saw Worf in Command Red in the all the way back in season 1 of TNG.

Summer

So we now have proof that Garak does over hear things while taking measurements…..it is interesting Gowron couldn’t read the room about Worf

MattN

this may be my fav reaction from Jen in a while. There's not much that makes me smile more than when Jen is genuinely excited\happy about something. This was such a good react and definitely brought me back.

Desmond

Yeah, it's kind of crazy, in retrospect, how they went with that one right after WotW.

Nate Gavin

alright Jen, from here onwards, let us know which episode is when you feel the DS9 franchise starts to outshine TNG & TOS - it will happen sometime between seasons 4 and 7. let the Trek wars begin! lol

Mastervodo

Patricia Tallman is ... nice.

Tony Bain

Just an FYI. When they say the Klingons are "refusing to give up Cardassian Colonies" they don't mean on Cardassia itself, they are talking about Colonies on planets or moons or wherever Cardassia has occupied in their region of space. That could be fair distances from Cardassia itself. Cardassians, Klingons, Romulans, all have their own sectors they colonize and given that it's space that means it's not necessarily near the main home-world.

Hok'Tar

Hey Jen I hope you still post the reactions where we use our own copy. The watch along where we don't need a copy is fine but the little window that shows the episode is too small. DS9 has a lot of big episodes. It would be a shame to watch them in a tiny window

Ortizmo

This, in all honesty, was THE reaction I was waiting for. And I was so overjoyed that I wasn't the only thinking "I hope she is duly warned about the opening credits". To this day I don't understand why they chose to spoil it by showing his name WITH THE MAIN CAST. Her reaction was everything I was waiting for. In fact, I'm just gonna go ahead and watch it all again after I post this. Enjoy, Jen. You are in for one HELL of a ride from this point until the finale. And that is no exaggeration. Oh, and then there's Season 3 of.......well, you'll see.

Jen Murray

I would never stop posting the sync reactions. They will always be available. The sync version is available for this one, did u find it?

Hok'Tar

Yes I did. Thank you.

Bobby Coolbreeze

I’d Like to thank you again Jen for this particular reaction to this episode. I felt like this was an “Event” for all of us in your community and you. Keep up the great work. It’s always something to look forward to every week with DS9 reactions! P.S I wanna know what you think about the new opening credits with your eyes open this time😂 I actually love it and the new variation of the theme!

The thing to understand is that DS9 in 1996 wasn't very loved by Trek fans. It didn't take place on a starship and on "Deep Sleep Nine" no one was boldly going to new planets each week. It was too different and dark. Adding Worf to the cast was a selling point for season 4. It was to draw in more of the TNG audience, saying "Please watch our show!" And they couldn't do that if they kept Worf a secret. Yeah, it's fun to watch Jen's unspoiled reaction, but that's not what was wanted or needed of the audience in 1997.

i probably missed it somewhere, but are you doing Voyager as well?

Alexis Vorian

she will think about it when DS9 is through, i think she will watch it

Jim Kolden

I've always understood it as "And I'm a fair sight prettier too".

S4! Woohoo! Let's Go!

The Klingon that Gowron and Martok spoke during the battle at the end was: Martok: They fight like Klingons! Gowron: Then they can die like Klingons! Destroy their shields! Prepare boarding parties! Martok: Understood. All ships, concentrate fire on their shield generators!

I *love* The Way of the Warrior. As far as I'm concerned this is Star Trek's best action movie. And it for some reason I feel like it doesn't get its due from the fans as much as it should or as much as say Best of Both Worlds gets. This is such a perfectly crafted episode of Star Trek. This whole era of Star Trek now from like 1995-1998 is the peak across the TV shows and films.

I really loved the various callbacks to the pilot episode of DS9-especially the "thoron fields and duranium shadows" line-but also how Worf's feelings about Starfleet mirrored Sisko's in that episode.

Now witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational battle-station 😉.

And to think, it was only added because the episode's run-time came up about 5 minutes short.

Marcus Hicks

You mean....hot.....don't you? 😉

Me too. One of the reasons I love Cinebinge so much is because of their "no copy needed" versions of movies and TV shows. As an Australian, trying to synch my DVD's to Stream versions of things is a pain in the neck, so not having that issue is a blessing.

I'd vote for Babylon 5 myself.

Nu-Trek is mostly terrible. Lower Decks is fun though. It works because it's a love letter to TNG-era Trek and almost entirely avoids referencing the other new shows lol.

Dipper

I was looking for this because I was about to say the same. ;)

Woo Hoo! Brand new to being a member and getting to watch full length watch alongs, and it's everything I thought it could be 😆 ... In all seriousness it's like I'm getting to watch these episodes again for the first time (and I've seen them all dozens of times) ... THANK YOU FOR DOING THESE!!

I re-joined just to get a jump and see your reaction to this episode. I knew you'd be on Cloud 9 when you saw Worf join the cast. Worf's appearance was a big deal; it was a cover story in TV Guide and of course the fan community at the time knew he was coming before he showed up. So you got to experience a genuine surprise that most of us missed back in the day. To be honest, at the time, there was some talk that it was a ratings stunt. DS9 wasn't doing as well as TNG. It was the black sheep and many of us were trying to figure out how we felt about the direction it was taking. Bringing in a beloved TNG character generated a lot of talk, and not all of it good. It's funny to think back and remember a time when this show seemed like anything less than the best Trek has to offer, but things were a little tense when this episode aired. I personally loved seeing Worf again and you'll be amazed at how well-suited he is for this series. Just you wait!

Yes, the Defiant is the most powerful ship of it's size
