This is a great psychological thriller that messes with your mind until the very last minute!

Ian

A mindbending movie with a really cool score that was music to your ears Jen , this one was pretty much your expression in the thumbnail , gobsmackingly weird but very cool , cheers Jen for another brilliant reaction 🔥👌

Harvey Lee

I'm getting Vertigo just from watching that spiralling effect !!!😜 Fortunately I don't actually suffer from Vertigo . A great thriller from the master of suspence Hitchcock I'm still trying to suss out the story . Your expression was probably like mine Jen !!😉🤘

Darryl Low

Love this movie and loved your reaction Jen. Excited to watch it again and check out your edit 😊

Drew

I can't emphasize enough that this movie is SO much more rewarding on subsequent watches. Hard not to just focus on the mystery and plot in a first watch, and for those elements I can see other Hitch films as superior. However, this is his artistic masterpiece - there are some great analyses available discussing the symbolism and themes of this movie for those that want to understand why it is regarded as one of the best films of all-time.

Great movie, terrific reaction ! The cinematography, the VistaVision format, the color saturation, set design, costumes, the Stars...watching Vertigo is like getting the inside of my eyeballs massaged(but pleasant). I like how everyone's first reaction to Vertigo is such that we are conned by Gavin's bull...and shocked by the reveal!

Re: North by Northwest and Shadow of a Doubt -- Will there ever be YouTube edits?

Patrick Turman

Scotty spends the whole movie following Madeline down in a slow, hypnotic spiral. Three times he follows her up instead of down (once at the hotel & twice at the mission). All three times he loses her. I LOVED you so, Madeline!

Of Jen's two dozen or so reactions that still remain Patreon exclusives, "North by Northwest," "A Nightmare on Elm Street," "Rain Man," "The Patriot," and "Oppenheimer" probably hurt the most for me. These are all very popular titles that would all do quite well on YT. Hell, I'd help pay for the editing costs of at least one of them if she'd let me. 🤷‍♂️ (I might throw in "Charlie Wilson's War" as well.) As much as I enjoy "Shadow of a Doubt," it's not widely known outside of Hitchcock enthusiasts, so I'm not sure if it would be worth editing for YT. 🤔

Joe J

I agree Byrd, outside of SoAD, the titles you list should get in the range of 15-25k views (say in a few weeks), which is in line with most content she posts.

Jen Murray

I have my reasons for what I choose to edit and not edit. Sometimes I just don't feel my reaction is very good. What I choose to send to YT isn't always just about views but sometimes it is. Just because a video gets 15-25k views doesn't mean it covers the cost to edit it. Some videos getting that amount of views have a higher CPM (revenue per 1k views), meaning they do cover the cost to edit. As example, Ghost which has 21k views right now has recouped the cost of editing. Rear Window which has 34k views has still not recouped the cost of editing it, so I lost money posting it on YouTube.

To Wa

Thank you for your response. That makes sense.

Joe J

Thanks for sharing that insight Jen. I was under the impression most reactions just get claimed by the studios so they can pocket all the ad revenue. Nice to hear you are getting some ad revenue to cover the edits.

Jen Murray

MANY videos are claimed but there is a long process you can go through to get the claim removed. You dispute, then it's rejected, then you appeal the rejection and that is also rejected, then you may get a strike on your channel and a threatening letter from the studio legal department, and then you do a 'counter notification' at which point they are forced to pursue actual legal action against you or drop the whole thing. I only deal with 1 claim at a time due to the risk of strikes. Currently have about 40 open claims on my videos. It's a whole long process and can take months. Many reactors don't bother with it or don't know about it. There is a reactor discord where we share this info. I just recently invited the channel 'Gallifrey Pals' to the discord cause I heard most of their vids were claimed or taken down and they were really happy to hear there's a process they can do👍

I hate to say it, but I've never fully bought Jimmy Stewart's transformation into an obsessive creep. He just couldn't *not* be a nice guy. 🤷‍♂️ I feel as though someone like Robert Mitchum might've been a better choice for the role (he'd certainly have no problem with the creepy side).
